- In this video I show how I have built up my strength to go from 0 muscle-ups to 10+ reps and having the strength to do other variations like the slow muscle-up. I also show the technique for the muscle-up to make the exercise easier with timing and momentum.

How to muscle-up, best exercises for the muscle-up
I am 51 years old now, never thought of actually being able to learn the muscle up, until I stumbled over your video. And you know what? I worked! I got up there! So THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Great job🙏
thats amazing, how much time did it take you?
I am 21, and it's so inspiring to read this! Thanks for the motivation
Do you have core strength, six pack abs?
Wow, respect sir
I love that "if you're not spazzing out, you're not trying hard enough" rule. That's my new rule.
Training to muscle failure or close to it is probably the most important rule of all, proper rest being the close second.
I follow that rule outside the gym.
@@bytefu i put proper rest at first. if u don’t recover, the training is meaningless
@@betterfuture231 Agreed.
At 36 yo, I am more careful with this rule. I don't want to get injured again.
It's incredibly rare to see someone make excellent, simple content, and also be effortlessly funny without overdoing it.
Well said!!
incredibly rare? I see comments like yours on every of the last 50 videos I opened on muscle ups...

Thank you!! i've been practicing trying to learn a muscle up for the past month or so, at a rate of two times a week, but ive been struggling! i know ill get them eventually! thank you for this video
This is a great tutorial, thank you. I really appreciate your honest and modest style of presenting too!
This is BY FAR the best muscle up tutorial that I've seen on the internet. I've been doing weighted pull ups with 15% of my body weight since a couple of weeks now and can do explosive pull ups too. However, I still wasn't able to do a muscle up, which for me is the coolest exercise out there and has been my goal. Will try to apply the cues you gave in this video. Thanks, man. Cheers!
Did it work u
Yeah, us guys who live below the bar want to know!
Blessings, keep it up. Love that these videos are pretty short. Long videos put me off, simplified and less info, easier to remember.
It's crazy how fast your channel grow. Simplicity is really the key I think. So easy to understand everting you show and implement my own routines. Keep up G
Some of the best instructors don't talk about going around the bar.. This is one of the reasons I find it so hard.
Brilliant advice ❤
I am learning muscle ups currently, and this video has been one of the most helpful so far. Thank you a lot!
This is the best video I've ever watched for muscle ups!! THANKS
Such a helpful video! 🙌🏼 Thank you for sharing!
You got it man! Pointed out the 3 movements to work separately plus mixing the explosive work and negatives AND the "cheat" move of MU! Very thorough and on POINT! Keep this up man!
Thank you! I'll will
@@colinmurrayYT you're welcome! 8 yr ago, I self-taught MU, had em dialed, & integrated in my workouts within 3 weeks. I believe breakdowns of various moves like this will definitely highlight you & make you stand out In this industry and niche! Excited to see what the future holds for ya dude!🙌🏼
The very best video on the bar muscle up technique I’ve seen, and I’ve seen quite alot of excellent videos about that youtube. Thanks alot!
Thanks for the breakdown & tips.
Brilliant. That was such a good break down of the skill. Thanks.
excellent video Colin. Thank you for taking the time to show us how you met this challange - something many of us want to do, but have not yet mastered.
Thank u for sharing yo journey, it has inspired me to take up this challenge of muscle-ups
Thank you so much Colin!! This was really helpful!

You are a gr8 teacher, thank you for sharing your struggle, your difficults... i thought it wouldnt help me doing negative m.u because i cant control, i just fall too quick.. but after watching this video i ll do this exercise again. I'm on weighted pullups e doing highest pullups as possible.m just completed 3 months, n can only do band assisted. I hope i get it soon, wont stop until i do it!
Thanks, Colin. Appreciate all the details... 💯💪
Finally, a complex video, where everything is said in simple way, thank you bro.
Thanks Colin! Great video
Thanks man! You made it so easy for me to understand what I should be doing to be able to do the muscle up! 🥳 I always had a feeling, but just couldn't grasp it, so to say. And besides, you have a great sense of humor! 🤣
❤ Love ya!
"Negative muscle up,
"Jumping muscle up" - Geez, I've been watching DOZENS of Muscle up tut vids, and no one talked about those!! 🎉
Thank you young man. Nice work
great video I enjoyed watching and listening to you I'm going to give this a go thanks mate.
Will begin practicing these tips today. Will be back to let you know when I do my first muscle up.
Best video ever you will be needing to learn basic calisthenics! You are truly a big inspiration!
This is a great video, thanks :) Really well explained. Trying to get fit again and return to form on these.
Excellent job! Well explained and demonstrated.
Duuuude, great video! Nice info you’re giving us 💪🏻
Probably best training to muscle up video on CZcams.
so nicely explained, thank you!
You did a pretty good job explaining that, bub. Hit the high points. Minimized the fluff. I like it.
Great info. Thanks for sharing
Great video - informative and easy to understand and follow. Thanks
As someone who’s taking small steps each day to progress towards muscle ups and more strength, this is a really great video. Probably one of the best ones out there, tells everything you need to know and the core part too which most videos skip.
Thanks a lot bro. I hope you keep progressing and unlock new feats and share with us. Good luck 🤞😉
1. this made my day 2. that "if you're not doing this" was THE point I subscribed - great work! thank you
Attempting to get my first muscle up in 2024. Pull ups and dips are becoming easier so I hope I’m not too far away. Great tip’s thanks
Amazing advice! Thank you brother
Love this, so practical!!
Thank you for this informative guide!! You have broken down the muscle-up into such good steps that it motivates me to keep pushing and makes me eager for my next session. Keep at it!
Thank you! I’m glad it helped and good luck training
Awesome tips thanks, I’ve been trying it with no success. But I’m gonna try it with your tips.
Good tutorial video! Thanks for sharing!!!
That's really cool man. You break it into much easier steps. 👍👍
Great video, man. Extremely thorough and helpful.
This is great! I follow your hybrid training guide but the calisthenics exercises there are really hard for somebody who hasn't done it before. I'd love to see more videos of the progressions or what you did to get good with the lever, planche, headstand, etc. Thank you!
Thank you! And yeah I'll have to start making some vids on those topics
Thanks for the tips, this is gonna be my this summer´s bucket list😅
great, straight to the point video......thank you
Very good man, "pull to waist" is a critical advice, thanks!
Hands down, best tutorial out there!
I LOVE your channel dude, fr. You've helped me so much since October in my calisthenics journey. I've lost 30 lbs and am looking noticeably strong, and a great part of it, I've just realized, is due to how naturally you add variations and weaker progressions to your videos. It makes it all so intuitive for me. Thank you
I treated the muscle up like pull up and didn't know too much about the technique, this video was so informative THANK YOU
Anytime 🙌
Jan, 2024. Great video for learning muscle ups. And your video made me LOL. "Dorito shaped back" and getting mur.... in your sleep were too hilarious. I am definitely going to the gym and getting started on all the basic exercises that you show in your video.
this is epic video brother. i been doing pullups for years. i always just did slow and controlled pullups with a pause and full range, with reps in the 10+ish range.
once i syarted doing explosive high pullups for sets of 5 with weight... the muscle up came easy and fast.. within a month bro!!!!
thank you so much for this video!!!!!!!
Fantastic video!
Great advice, logical progression and practical humility that is super encouraging!!
Kudos, Sir. This was VERY well done! 🙌💪👏👊🤙
Much appreciated!!
Actually one of the better videos I've seen on this, Gj mate
Great you tube channel , keep it young man and thank u
best video on attaining the muscle up I've seen (I have seen many). Well done
Well thank you. I appreciate it
Nice to see a tall guy doing calisthenics. I weigh 80kg and just recently mastered the frog pose. Your videos are really helpful bro. I cant do pullups yet but I'm working on it
I really love your content man, thanks from Brasil
Like the animation used for flying over the bar! 😁Also the tutorial is pretty decent and one of the best for sure👐🏽
Such great info while being so welcoming and fun hahaha this is the best
He such a beast.. squeeze in alot of info within roughly 7mins. Amazing 🤩
Great tip champ..very well explained..4 👌
Now time to practice these advices, thanks.
very well made and thought through
Great tips. Thank you
I'm 51 too, and starting my muscle up journey. I'm glad he showed the quad cramp on the L sit. I sometimes get those too on the L-sit.
Love this advice, some tips I've never heard before
You're a true inspiration to many young men.
I’ve been trying to get a muscle up and was hoping you’d make this vid!! LETS GOOOO
LETSS GET IT
Very good and informative video! Thanks a lot!
I’ve never been more motivated and inspired by anyone on youtube other than you man. Working on my discipline too, and I’ve been working out and on a caloric surplus to bulk up a bit. Wish me luck
That’s awesome bro keep at it! That hard work won’t go unrewarded 🙌
S tier vid thanks man
Amazing routine, it's my go to session now for limited time and equipment (I've modified for dumbells where kettles aren't available)
thank you, great video!
Very helpful. Thank you!
The cool thing about these videos is, when you start, with no one else helping, you understand nothing, then you come back ti the same video, a year later, after meeting people, after understanding the exercises, understanding the foundations, more informed the video starts to fill the missing pieces of a puzzle, thank for your content!
I've been on your hybrid workout plan and have gotten so much progress for my athleticism and physique. Love your content man!
Ayy let’s go! have you made any progress with the calisthenics skills?
@@colinmurrayYT for sure! I can hold a handstand for a few sec now just 3 weeks in but it's a hell of an improvement of how embarrassingly bad my technique was before. Also, front levers at the 90 deg hip progression. Planche is my weakest but have gotten to holding the frog pretty well consistently. I've been working out for a while with the standard PPL, circuit, etc. but adding calisthenics has been a game changer for just being stronger and being able to perform some cool movements. Recently I've been trying to hone in technique for weighted dips and pull ups to do more movements like the muscle up haha
@@Kiintf2 Ayye you're killing it and that handstand progress is way faster than mine. 3 weeks in mine was still embarrassing bad lol. Hybrid is the best though keep with it!
Thank you so much for these tips!!!
Any time!
Excellent… thank you! 💪
Awesome content! I love this!
Really nice Tutorial. A month ago I was able to make my first Muscle up, and now I can almost do Two in a row :)
I love this channel it has this old youtube vibe

Nice. That's actually a pretty informative video.
Good Information bro! My favorite exercise is the pull-up/muscle-up
I've been working on this for years, literally. Watched many how to-s. I think this is what will get me over the bar. Going to save this to favorites.
