It’s time for an almighty V8 showdown!
We’ve got Mat in the all-new Audi RS7 Performance, and he’s lining up against a BMW M8 Competition & a Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-Door!
So let’s see how these ferocious machines compare. Starting with the Audi, it’s packing a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet that can produce 630hp and 850Nm of torque. Power is set to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it weighs in at 2,067kg. If you want to pick one up, it’ll set you back around £133,000.
Then we have the BMW M8. Under the bonnet, you’ll find a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, and this can put down 625hp and 750Nm of torque. It comes with four-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it tips the scales at 2,074kg. It’s slightly more expensive than the RS7, with a price tag of £138,000.
Finally, we have the AMG. It’s powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 639hp and 900Nm of torque. It sends power to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox, and it tips the scales at 2,045kg. It’s the most expensive car here, costing around £154,000.

tbh the merc and bmw times werent as good at theyre used to be in previous races which were better than audi’s current time so idk
but the audi did fantastic on the rolling races so fair play for audi on that note it absolutely destroyed them in that department

Nice video but it is a bit frustrating as an GT63s owner, I have GT exactly same as in the video and this is not the full power of this beast ,the one in the race has a problem with boost and turbos one of them is not working well and I had the same problem before in mine and I already fixed it, it's more like a manufacturing problem in almost all GT63s 4-door, also you see at 16:29 in the middle gauge it should be 900Nm stable when full throttle not less with 1Nm at all, As an AMG owner and On behalf of all AMG lovers we demand carwow team to bring another clean and healthy GT63s and do this race again!!!
I only own an S5, but it has a standard Drive mode, and a Sport drive mode. Does the AMG also have those options when putting it into drive? I feel like the AMG is in a comfort mode or something like my Audi can also use. That AMG should be nasty

magic, m8 gc is faster, in older videos m8 grand coupe with mat driving took a time of 1/4 10.9 sec, in several videos, it is faster than rs7 performate, if the driver is good😂😂😂😂

@@ionutsolovastru1686 It also depends on the tires used. It is possible that the cars in this clip still had winter tires. There is a major difference between winter and summer tires. And it also depends on the heat of the track surface, if the track is warmer the tires have a better grip.
So crazy to me that so many people love the RS6 but hate the RS7, they're literally the same car except one has a lift back😂
I’m probably in the minority that’s not too keen on estates so I would buy the RS7 in a heartbeat.
I prefer the rs7 over rs6 cuz im more of a fan of coupes/sedans than estate

@@roddur1000 the rs6 performance did 11.1 in last carwow tests so. Rs7 performance did perform the same i would say. Bmw was 0.6 seconds slower then normal. Dont believe the rs7 performance do the quarter mile under 11 seconds so

GT63 definitely broken, healthy one should do low 11s all day. Seems to be missing 150 bhp atleast. Boost gauge seems to not be showing full boost.

Rather than mentioning the times for the penultimate race, I think it would be better to mention the fastest time each car recorded from all the races (within that video)

@user-bk6ds6qc8z nah ,I don't think they've ever gotten 10.9 sec with the m8 on their drag races,it was always in the 11's,also could be due to the conditions but even on the rolling race the rs7 pulled on both of them. Maybe there was something wrong with the merc but I doubt anything was wrong with the m8.

Hi Mat, if you put the gearbox in Neutral (handbrake on, for safety) you will be able to rev the cars more then 4k. I have my RS7 and Panamera and I have discovered this myself. All the best with the sound reving/exhausts tests.

those cars in unison really sounded like a push mower when they were revving to launch.
Here's a tip for at, least VW group for the soft limiter, if the car is rolling (+/-5kmh) and you pop in to neutral, than you're gonna override the soft limiter, as long as you're moving the soft limiter is off!

For the M8 and AMG to have such significant drops in performance is very strange. 0.7 seconds slower something clearly isn't right.
It's probably weather conditions
Audi is usually better in wet, that's where the quattro shines. As a BMW fan I think that the M8 would beat the RS7 Perf in dry conditions

Yeah defo something is wrong with the car, they are customer cars so CarWow doesn’t do like an full on inspection before any races so who knows how the owners have treated the cars and what the maintenance history has been of those cars. Even the Boost gauge wasn’t showing full boost. Something is for sure wrong with that AMG.

To be fair, the AMG GT63S does the QM in 11.1s, and the BMW M8 Comp is a sub-11s car (most drivers have accomplished 2.7 to 2.9s).
A brand new 11.3s QM Audi RS7 Perf dominating a race against an old M8 and AMG GT63 was almost inevitable
Matt did 10.9 in the same model Amg in the past. It seems strange how much slower this car was today.

not really times vary depending on tyres ,,,on my tuned rs7 c8 i get a 10.3 quart mile or other days a slow 10.6 ..outside temps tyres road surface and all vary. the merc is just not that rapid as guys think, my mate has one as it doesnt blow me away when i go in it...@@Tom_Mroz

That M8 most likely running on 95 octane fuel for sure. That thing did .5 second slower. Usually does 10.9 on quarter mile.
Another win for Matt, what a surprise. Also, the explanation of the hand drop doesn't change the fact that it's stupid. Hand drops leave too much room for error. They should use lights or they can just use a Vbox , so it doesn't matter if someone leaves earlier than another driver, just use the data for all the tests.

It is funny that in some videos the M8 Comp has done a sub 11 sec quarter and here is doing a mid 11. Something is fishy with that M8. I wonder if it’s all ragged out and not making power. It does have suspect silly body kit. Also the leather interior would make it slightly heavier (leather dash, etc).

Double negative makes a positive 🤓
formula 1 blackout lights are random, when the red lights turn off (called lights out or blackout) it is random, so the drivers have to just react as fast as they can which works because they are timed individually by each car. If they were all timed by one stopwatch, like in carwow videos, It wouldn’t be as accurate because you can’t guarantee they will all launch at the exact same time. With the 3,2,1 countdown, and the arm drop to start the race, It gives them time to prepare for the launch and have them launch at almost the exact same time, which will show the cars pulling away from each other / crossing the 1/8 mile a whole lot better. It also lets them only need one stopwatch, since they all take off at the same time. Vs the lights out, where the racers have no time to prepare cuz the lights just go off randomly leading to different launch times = different 1/8 mile times. 🤓🤓🤓

About Mat's comment at 6:55 😂 Dear Mat, you are the only one that has become such a genious at the hands down launch, you launch as soon as your lazer eyes detect a hair movement at the hands ready to go down 😂 no one else manages to do that therefore it is not fair, your launches are always just at the edge of jumping. My parents have a RS7 and that thing is absolutely insane to drive. Any time I get into the driver seat my heart rate instantly skyrockets because I know what the driving experience is like. It’s a legitimate street legal race car.
