They’ve been around for a loooong time. We used to call them Yard Dogs in the Navy. And in the shipyard, we had some that could move 100,000lb trailers with up to a 30,000lb tongue weight. And yes, they could move 40,000lb trailers through snow and slush without any hesitation at all, although they did have tracks rather than tires. Super efficient for moving cargo around without tying up drivers for hours and hours. Doesn’t replace drivers, just frees them up to drive.
Thanks for an informed opinion.
My dad was UK Royal Navy and our sailors called them that too. He started on Ark Royal (aircraft carrier) and finished on mine sweeper (HMS ST DAVID M1124) weird how memories kick in from being a kid isnt it (I'm 63 so dementia NOT kicking in JUST yet) 😂😂❤
@@karenhowells1455 Yep, I’m 62 and I’m proud to say my mind is like a steel tarp!…or is that steel trap?….steel part?…🤔...anyway, I’m gonna go watch The Price is Right and then take a nap. 😬😂
Some come with caterpillar tracks, called mules, to move sheds and things. Hyderolic drive means plenty of torque.
I saw one of those small devices that's been around for years, stopped at Love's and got coffee and a shower.
( uh, no, truckers have not been replaced)
You can get these that can move your camper around by remote control.
Dude that is not even gonna replace yard dog.Who is gonna want to stand in the summer sun pushing trailers around on the hot pavement
What took so long for this to come
out? We’ve been doing this for airplanes for decades.
It’s been around for years called a Yard dolly or switcher used to move EMPTY trailer’s around the yard also only works on blacktop or concrete
We have also been doing this with trailers for decades.
We used to call them jitneys. I wonder if the term is still used today.
I can see bob from garden center driving this around and running into everything in the parking lot trying to get the trailer to the loading dock!!!
I'm Bob and I support this message
I'm the cashier in the garden center and I also approve this message 😂
I see Bob huffing nitrous in the dairy cooler. Whip it's.
Bob got replaced by jose
Now push it 1000 miles up and down steep grades on through interstates.
I don’t understand why so many people hate truck drivers, it baffles me…😮
Aircraft spotting dolly on a Navy aircraft carrier. That's where this idea came from. Looks very similar !
So, no one noticed that he hit the cab on his left?
No one noticed because he didn't.
He didnt
Everyone noticed he didn't. Except you.
Its about how they switched trucks
@moebetter get his eyes checked.
I was a truck driver for 7 years, never saw one of these, I dont know if it's a good idea because truck drivers need to be good at backing their trailer up, especially the new drivers, this slows progress down, if this replaces a mule truck, Ok then.
We have one at work. It spent more time in the shop for repairs than it did in the yard. Eventually, they replaced it with a truck. 😂
Yes my "X" endorsement means absolutely NOTHING anymore!!😂😂
Do you know what the "x" is?!🤙
The X is a huge waste of money and lots of problems. Tanker and hazmat btw. Drop the hazmat tho it’s not worth it.
Coming from a local fuel hauler around DC and Baltimore I'm home every night and clear over 100k in a company truck. Yea I'll keep my hazmat... 😎
But not for all areas in the U.S. totally agree... If ya don't use it there's no point. 👉
@@xVxHELLOKITTYxVx so hauling fuel is not terrible if ya find the right company to go with i found the mom and pop owners are the best
Should add mirrors to that set up.
Should add mirrors to that set up.
Or cameras
Ha! Good luck with a human and air compressor moving a full and loaded 53’er. I would pay to see that Shi Show!
what a great invention, this is needed in New York wow nice Think about it, drop and hook and go let the warehouse guys back into the dock when they need it.❤
Companies always trying 2 replace drivers but will end up paying more money in the long run. Expirence is earned and cannot b replaced by machines
He's moving an empty trailer. Definitely not replacing a driver and a truck.
It's called a yard jockey. It helps companies move their trailers around to yard that they fill b4 the driver pulls up
Truckers would probably love this, they get payed by the shipment so not having to wait for everything to be unloaded would be a good thing
Don't underestimate a real PROFESSIONAL Truck Driver! I have seen a few that could make their trucks stop on a dime! And park that truck as easy as you can a bike.
Dude we can make this like a NASCAR pitstop. When the driver comes in, detach and reattach another trailer and keep moving - "Someone in FedEx and Amazon"
It's not like no one has ever knocked down a bunch of shelves or destroyed an entire storeroom with just a pallet jack. Cant wait to see what this puppy does.
Gen Z or whatever they call the kids these days making fun of truck drivers...sounds about right.
By the way, in case you genius business operators don't know truck drivers still drive the trailers from the supply warehouse to the stores.
Best part, no crying, complaining from a driver
Yeah they some crybabies, always trying to run people off the freeway too
@@ericcavin2246hi I drive a big truck for a living I have a dash cam send me your link and I can show you the fools in the cars that run me off the road every day some idiot passed me across the middle of the road and picked up a piece of gravel and busted my windshield I have hours of footage don't get me wrong I've seen some ignorant truck drivers too but mostly cars❤
That just put the trailer in a hole! It ain't moved thatload one block! Replaced my Butt!
😂 and to think just a little while ago everyone was telling us truckers how much we were loved and appreciated. They done went and forgot about us “hero’s”. 😂🤣
Truckers will not be replaced. When you have multiple trailers dropped you need to move them around as needed.
I wouldn’t say it replaced us drivers but now those damn yard dogs are in trouble 😂
Still have to drive it there...
How many nonsense comments over here? This device is by far one of the best for a warehouse operation, because the truck drivers left the trail and keep going in their Bussines right away without waiting a lot to others get out of tge discharge points..Some merchandise no need to be downloaded right away, and they need to wait some time 1 week or more on the container because a Warehouse have priorities..In the yard of the warehouse is more practical and cost effective use this kind of machinery...
😂😂😂 Ok, let see if that can move 46000lb like that😂 that was a empty trailer😂😂
Yup yup
Now hire 5x as many technicians to upkeep those machines lol. Just pay drivers what they’re deserved👍🏽
Yea, that's a flat surface. Now, use that thing to back a full trailer up to a loading dock with an incline. I'll just sip my coffee while I wait.
Tired of these (truck driver) or wheel holders running over or into destroying property. They give cdls out to anyone just about for free
Same as regular class c driver licenses🙄
Hey, this is pretty cool, this helps those guys, that can’t seem to do a 40ft dock, watching them struggle over an hour, trying to get in the door.😂
Yes, Wife could only be useful in drop yards. Actually, it would help reduce chances of accidents in tight spaces
Hyster already did this and it’s a soul crushing experience. Moving trailers around a massive industrial lot in a hyster is awful.
Truck drivers hate shunting anyways. It's always a trouble when you don't have a driver onsite. This machine is a god sent.
This seems like a invention that would come out before yard trucks, not after 😂😂😂
I used to work at this furniture manufacturer before i lost the tip of my index finger sued them and got 30k but anyways we had a yard truck that one assigned employee drove to move trailers in n out of loading docks during the day it wasnt a actually trucker with cdl which is okay cause it ever left the plant thats pretty much what this if for so they can do it themselves most people working at warehouses dont know how to drive semis so this makes it convenient for the warehouse
All I know is.... I want one. And I'm a Senior who can't even drive a truck.😊😊
It's not replacing truck drivers. It might replace yard jockeys at distribution centers. The other drivers are safe.
Not to worry truckers. Before its a threat of replacing you it has to learn to tailgate & flip everyone it see's the finger.
It has replaced them for walmart, and if the average associate knows how to use a pallet jack, now they can move an entire truck of inventory. For minimum wage, of course.
Thats the only truck a Walmart/Swift driver should drive!!
We have one of these. Use it to move a boat around the yard. Expensive but wonderful tool
Most big companies have their own switcher The truck driver just hauls it across the country and drops it off, they load it on the dock
