#trucking #cdl #trucker - Zábava
That takes GOAL to a whole new level.
My Dad was a trucker for 30 yrs and got his 1 million mile safe driving award and told me your mirrors are your best friends.know what is around u at all times.
Love to see old timers spread knowledge! Experience matters!
That powerd passenger side mirror was a God sent gift
That's why I love the trucking industry I've been in since 2014 and every day you will see something new and crazy it never gets old
Thought I heard it all until now. WOW. Standing on the step while backing up, that guy is lucky he still has legs.
Yep I saw a back in the 80's that used to do that. I always thought it was insane.
Yupp. Never stand on the battery box so make sure your rig has a left side fuel tank to stand on. 😜
Mine is remote controlled I just get out and grab my PS5 controller and just back it right in
😅😅😅😅
I've seen dudes stepping out or backing up with the door open
I open the door but never step out. I turn and make sure my foot stays on the brake.
Never had to get up.
A friend of mine actually ran over himself that way… he lived, but was never the same
When I was a greenhorn I was in allentown pa and a guy pulled into a shipper with a green pete and did that. I was in awe I'd never seen that and id never do it either. It did look pretty slick though
Do it every right back! I love his videos but this one I don’t agree with! My truck barley crawls in reverse!
@@johnmoor86 I definitely couldn’t do it with my truck. Allison tc10 with 2.49 rearemd. Low reverse at idle is 4mph. I got it used and I have no idea what idiot specced an Allison this way, but as soon as I get a chance I intend to redo the entire low range to something that makes more sense.
I'm not a driver, but I used to move furniture and spent a lot of time in and around trucks..the best drivers I saw would pretty much explain being able to back trucks up so well especially to the blind side, as being intuition. They were so good at it and so used to it that they knew where the trailer was and where it was going to end up just by mastering their craft. I would probably be one of the guys who gets out every 2 feet to look all around the trailer just to make sure everything was going how it was supposed to.
You're 100% Correct
My dad has been backing like that for over 30 years. Standing outside of his truck on the steps. Oddly enough he’s never had to pull forward
Skill
Yeah I’m a millennial so I’m just going to get me some Wi-Fi cameras and set them up to stick on the back of whatever trailer I have might as well work smarter not harder
GenXer... I still agree. Work smarter.
I lost a friend in fourth grade , he was on the back of his dad log truck trying to help back up and he fell off and his dad backed over top of him his dad didn't see him fall off until it was too late
Safety first I love this guy
You’re a personal hero of mine. I love your advice and extensive knowledge of the industry. Thank you!
I've seen them totally standing on the step with their back to the front facing the rear of the trailer. 🤪
I think we’ve seen the same guy(s)! Never underestimate the power and creativity of human stupidity.
I had a guy who was "training" me do that. I told him, "don't do that!". A few years later another did that and wound up falling off and got ran over. His body was found a day later because the lot he was putting the trailer was an auxiliary lot that wasn't used very often.
Very good PSA, very useful.
Sir you are absolutely correct thanks for sharing your good driving
I completely agree. If you’re going to get out of the truck to see what you’re doing when backing up, get completely out of the vehicle with both feet on the ground away from the moving truck. Then after you have a visual on what’s going on, jump up in the truck and continue backing appropriately.
I’ve seen this before, it’s hilarious 😂
Set up right and shouldn’t hardly ever have to even get out
Part of Get Out And Look should be Air Brakes First !
OMG 😳 that's funny 🤣🤣🤣!!! Man I had a dude fresh outta trucking school doin that! You can only imagine what I was thinking 🤔🤔🤔 sir!!! 😂
I’ve seen a guy do that in a custom Pete backed into a tight spot perfectly.
In the comments, it seems like there's a skill wall - the best of the best can do it safely and quickly, while it's dangerous and near-impossible for average drivers
Worse thing I ever saw was a guy blindside backing, truck in gear, and he was hanging out the passenger side window to see where he was going 🙄.
That's legendary
but was the truck moving
Worked road crew, one of our dump haulers was just a little 5 foot guy, just backing up the dumper he would jump back and forth to the passenger door and the back to driver door while raising the dumper loaded.... whenever I heard the kwopper rolling in I got the fuck out of the hole.
There's no way...Are you serious?????🤣🤦🤦🤦
Aww, c'mon, truck surfing is the next Olympic event.
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the helpful information.
That’s how my great grandfather showed me and ever since that’s how I done it.
And mi daddy and his daddy a4 him.
We don't need no snow mexkin B in all high and mi tea tellin us wats bin doin it sins B4 noah was a boi, how's it gunna be dun did in thes her parts 🖕
Sounds like a good way to lose your legs lolol
AWSOME
I've seen this! So dangerous I'm gonna try that door swing move though.
If you have door mounted mirrors the door swing is the best way to do it.
It works just stay belted just in in case.
Just keep your seat belt on. Almost have to if you got stacks blocking your vision.
I agree 200% I'm been driving for 34 years never opened my door while backing I use the mirrors. Always good stuff keep teaching us
I thought he was going to say never get out and look what’s behind the truck I was about to lose it lmao
My old boss’s father was killed by his truck when it ran him over after he fell out of it - stupid way to go
I open my door all the time, can't see nothing with them big stacks on the side of the truck🤷♂️
Sad thing is is that I don’t doubt you
Safety before glamor. Unless you're as fixated as a woman about appearance before going to work. That's why I don't like anything unnecessarily blocking my view. Including exhaust stacks.
Those things just to avoid getting out of the truck and looking.
Thank you for the video.
Keep up the good work.
Yeah one of those super truckers lol
Great video my friend keep up the good work and stay safe, that goes for the rest of my fellow truckers and much love.
The one trainer at my school thought he was cool showing off backing up standing on the steps, also seen a few people do it at the truck stops too.
One of my older coworkers told a story from the old days of someone doing this. Standing backwards with his left hand on the wheel.
Facts unc!!!!!
Thanks for sharing this great insight!
Everyone knows you find a random person to back up while you guide them 😂
I was standing on the step backing my semi up while watching this video on my phone.
I couldn't be truck driver my road rage kicks in lol
You are so right, also all these guys riding with the tandems all the way under the belly of the trailer makes it harder to back up, but they dont have a clue, this new breed of trucker are a piece of work, i been driving 39 yrs and i see something new everyday
Got out and look...
Don't be afraid, of what the other "drivers "think about it.( been doin' it, for more than 20 years )
Most underrated advice ive read yet!
I always explain to the new drivers that the 1 - 2 max pull up rule isnt really a thing in the real world .
I really wish they'd stop teaching that when they go get their cdl's.
That's impressive, good job man. I'd rather see that than standing on the outside.
I agree some big scrappers have really develop that skill those exhaust Stacks really create an issue. When you got to bump the Doc skills pay the bills
Well said sir.
Opening the door period is just funny to me I’ve never had to open a door to back the many truck I’ve driven local and otr
I witnessed a guy do this backing his tanker trailer into a very difficult to back into tight Ass spot at a dairy I delivered at also .
Usually took me about 5 tries to get into this tight bay and not hit the church in front of you .
This guy came up the road on reverse hanging out on the step and nailed the bay nonstop in one try.
Impressive but all I could think of is how wrong that could go quickly south.
I impressed a guy today in New Jersey! I do it in every tight spot!
I approve this message but I still love opening my door to back up when the mirror is no help anymore. 🤷🏽♂️
Thanks for the idea
We never covered that in truck school, I'll take your word for it. 👍🏻👌
Dude I literally saw that like a week ago at a really tight shipper I was on the phone with my dispatcher and stop talking and she’s like is everything OK I said yeah just something I haven’t seen before
I see guys do this all the time…. They are usually awesome drivers
My truck has a voice that will talk to me. It does everything for me. It keeps calling me Michael, but my name is Jeff.
You can tell this man respects his rig. He drives with his house slippers on. Where I work we see a lot of truckers come and go picking up or dropping off loads and all the career guys with nice rigs has 2 sets of foot wear. Indoor and out door shoes.
Brother I'm so short . I have to get out and run to the back of the trailer to look While the truck is backing up. I leave the door open so I can run and jump back in before it hits the building. I don't shut the door anymore because the last time I did that it locked and the truck hit the building...
You must drive for swift?
Or you could look at it this way so many guys are guilty of bragging about their ability to back into a dock perfectly but that guy who fell off the truck and yet the truck still hit the dock he can say that my backing skills are so good I don't even have to be in the truck and I still get it in the hole
If you're unsure about ANYTHING with your trailer, stop the truck and GET OUT. Walk back and take a look.
There's NEVER anything wrong with getting out and figuring out what you need to do to back that trailer up successfully.
This story made my day! 😂😂😂
Ok, I’ve heard of popping the parking brake and getting out to check where the trailer is(like a spotter), but I’ve never heard of anyone standing half in and half out.
My immediate impression of a driver opening his door to reverse is, what an idiot. If you cannot back up with your mirrors, then you shouldn't be in a truck.
Well just like with cars, most truckers probably don’t have their mirrors adjusted properly either.
💯
Would it change your mind if that's how they've done it for years? I hear some truckers complain that the stacks block their mirrors, so they have to open the doors.
😂😂😂 I see like 5 dudes a day in flip flop screaming on the phone
thanks for the tips
Seen a CZcams driver standing out and driving.
Good way to get yourself hurt.
i seen one video the guy was legit standing on the top stair holding the door open and was steering from the outside with one hand if that doesn’t SCREAM STUPID I don’t know what does
Backing up with style!!! Hahaha
Some ppl give u the energy that is so positive its makes your day
Good Citizen to share the knowledge. A real caring professional. Thank you. M
Great tip 🎉
Ive done it for 27yrs and nailed it every time IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE DRIVER 😂
Damn and all this time I would jump on the hood 😂😂😂
I usually reverse , open my door and quickly run to the back to check the angle is perfect . Then go back into my truck to set the parking break .
Well said Bro.... 😂 😂 👍
Great advice 👍 👌 👏 😀
I started driving in the 1970's and I never saw it done until I saw it on youtube. I move all kinds of crazy stuff, oversized and all, and I never needed to get out on the step to back up. And I regularly worked NYC
Ive seen it also i knew it was dumb. Thank you for confirming
Electric positioned mirrors are a godsend to doing blindside back ups
The guy recording: “cmon man it was one time. Can I try again?”
I've always stuck my head out the window , never fails.
Seeing your American Classic interior sure makes me miss mine. 2002 379 Flat Top Pete.
Do whatever you need to get the job done.
Truth!
Safety harnesses tied to the door frame and toes on edge of the battery box ❤😂😂😂
"And I knew this guy personally "
Sorry Frank.
I’ll do everything to have a clear look at where I’m backing, but standing on the battery box.
Wise words!
Battery Box? Really? It's called GOAL! LOL!😂
Looks like Mom and all those airline pilots were right about staying in my seat until it complete stop. lol
I like this fella.
When I was driving a 379 I would stand on the battery box all the time and found it very easy to back into a space.
This is exactly a perfect reason to have a drone. Just have it hover above in a birds eye view.
Thank you
I’ve seen that multiple times over the years myself. CRAZY as it is DANGEROUS.
thought we were getting a Super Trucker for a sec with the clickbait😂
First 3 I've done when I backed up a dump truck for the first time, door wiggling was surprisingly effective. I'd never get out of the truck while it's in gear, the thought of that just makes "Shake hands with danger" play in my head.
