I searched this up
When I was about 8, 9 years old, I had a reoccurring dream where a drop of something fell into a funnel that ignited a machine. Then, this machine started moving, puffing and working, and I'd wake up with an awful sensation of watching something that didn't have an ending.
I'm autistic and I have a terrible need for closure. I felt so bad with those dreams that I'd feel nauseous through the entire day, and they happened quite often. Once I grew up, the dreams stopped, but I still remember those in particular because my need for closure was never met.
Today, April 17th, 2024, I just found this video. I feel like this was the machine I was dreaming about.
I finally have closure.

I used to listen to this back in my childhood in our old house and listening to this again paired with how the machine sounds makes me nostalgic for those times...
I remember my dad showing me this when I was 11. He was like "Whoa check this crazy marble machine out!!" I couldn't get enough of it, I'd watch this on repeat.

Little-known fact: A version of this thing was selling like hotcakes in the 1700's. Unfortunately, there was a sharp downturn in the production of marbles, so the instrument became extinct.

The most crazy part about it is that it isn't just the most elaborate music box. There is a need for the player to actively play the guitar, pull the correct levers at the correct time, and then there is intermission. This is not just a feat of engineering but also a true display of skill.

Are you familiar with the Animusic videos from around 2006, specifically "Pipe Dream"? I always thought that it would be fantastic to see something like those animations done with real mechanical machines. This does it!
This video popped up again in my news feed in 2024. No matter how many times I watch this, I am still an awe thinking about the mechanics and physics and planning to make this instrument and then the amount of practice needed to be able to pull off this video
