Cholesterol is a waxy substance present in all body cells.
Function of Cholesterol
To build cell Plasma membrane
To make cortisol, estrogen and testosterone
For vitamin d formation
To make bile acids thus it helps in digestion of fatty food
Brain and nervous system function
Sources of cholesterol - meat and full-fat dairy, oil,milk,eggs, meat and Liver
Types of cholesterol
Cholesterol travels through the blood in form of lipoprotein They are of 2 types.
high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol
low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol.
HDL = high cholesterol-to-protein ratio= good cholesterol
helps in removal of excess of cholesterol thus protects against heart disease.
LDL= bad cholesterol. It can clog arteries by making plaque and making them less flexible this causes atherosclerosis. Blood doesn’t flow as well through stiff arteries leading to heart disease, heart attacks, and strokes.
Thyroid hormones t3 and t4 which regulates a lipoprotein metabolism .
T3, helps the liver to process and remove excess cholesterol
Thyroid hormones helps in
(HMG-CoA) reductase, which is the first step in cholesterol biosynthesis.
(T3) upregulates LDL receptors by controlling the LDL receptor gene activation.
T3 prevents oxidation of LDL
IT influence HDL metabolism by increasing cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) activity
It stimulate the lipoprotein lipase (LPL), which catabolizes the TG-rich lipoproteins
It influence adipocyte fat cell metabolism
In hypothyroidism liver cannot process as much cholesterol as usual. This can lead to high levels of LDL and total cholesterol.

It can lead to increased CVD risk
Thyroid hormone levels don’t have to be very low to increase cholesterol.
Even people with mildly low thyroid levels, called subclinical hypothyroidism, can have higher than normal LDL cholesterol.
High TSH levels alone can directly raise cholesterol levels, even if thyroid hormone levels aren’t low.
Hyperthyroidism and Cholesterol
Hyperthyroidism has high T3 and T4 hormones. It can cause unexplained improvement of lipid profile.
Thyroid dysfunction should be taken into account when treating dyslipidemic person.

Treatment
Levothyroxine to treat hypothyroidism. It can also help lower your cholesterol level.
When your thyroid hormone level is just marginally low, you may not need thyroid hormone replacement.
Instead, your doctor might put you on a statin or other cholesterol-lowering drug.
Statin medicine is not recommended during pregnancy and lactation.

Video is very educative. Please advise if continuous use of Ecosprine( blood thinner) after my CAD in 2010 has some bearing with Hyper Theoride as in my case HDL is constant at 38 but LDL is reducing rapidly which is now only 78 against minimum range of 150.
any other medicine you are taking ? it doesnt cause this effet
