How NOT to install the wall bracket! - LG G2 OLED

- The LG G2 Evo OLED is a beautiful bit of kit & certainly a front runner for Flagship TV of the year in 2022. LG does not provide a stand in the box, only a special wall bracket. If you decide to buy one of these & install it for yourself, you are going to want to watch this one. I discovered many need-to-know things that are not explained in the manuals. Great overview thank you. Im close to installing my own G3 and this has given me a good overview. I've just purchased a cheap laser level to assist with this along with mounting speakers, seemed like a sensible idea!
Don't understand why the paper for marking out the mount doesn't show the full size of the tvs, so you know where the bottom of the TV is. For me it's the most important dimension and a quote obvious requirement.
Just measure the top to middle distance and add that from the middle line down; that’s your bottom measure. I think LG thought this was obvious for people, but my dad didn’t understand it in the first place either.. And besides of that it would be nice to see how the whole TV will end up on the wall indeed
Climate change bro
they probably just think people have a tape measure
I bought this TV. Took ages drilling holes, making sure they were level and in the perfect spot. Once I finally got the TV into the bracket and presses the ON button it didn’t switch on! Ended up having to return it! Now got to wait another 2 weeks before I get my replacement
Wow, I can understand the fear in chapter 7!! I'll bet the Lady in France felt like a Chapter 7!! (OK! That's the last time I tease you about that!) Congrats on your success.
The LG installation video is excellent and paired with this real world vid, I think I'll be good to mount it up!
Great step-by-step video mate. Question, can you please make another chapter on how you went about covering the cables?
Have one of these getting delivered tomorrow. Great breakdown man
Thanks 🙏🏼
yer its a nice tv...one of the best...its scary pushing it back as the screen is so thin...it looks like it could snap......yer i found out long ago its 10mm masonry drill for most TV brackets...and have you not got a sprit level in yer tool box...think a trip to screw fix is needed lol....but surprised there's not one with the tv bracket. Considering the price of it...because yer get the little ones in some and they cost pennies to include with bracket ...and a tip ...if your holes end up too big/loose due to a wonky drill...a match stick or piece of twig from bush in garden push inside the hole with the wall plug. Makes for a tighter fit. But well done yer did it
Thanks for the video.. is it possible to attach the sound bar holder to the wall mount ?
Hi . I have purchased today for almost 2k € Im going to do this tomorrow or sometime this week … Im really excited how will my PS5 look .. I’ve recently moved away from Munich so my Samsung QLED broke down! 😄
I like the Chapters especially last 3 😂
you dont have to fully push back or? I have in wall speakers and the center would be in the way...i have an outlet behind the tv but it is in the middle - which doenst fit the 83" so i would need a tiny bit of room to get the cable out of the middle outlet....otherwiese I will have to use a comercail vesa holder...any thoughts?
thank you so much for this video. my hands were wet when you put the tv on the wall. haha
Probably one of the best looking TVs on the market. Question: So is there no possibility (with the 'correct' anchors) that this tv cannot go straight onto a drywall?
I installed my g2 77 and I got stuck into one side of the bracket and the TV would not pop in and one of the bolts popped off. So I had to return it I got a new one coming but not sure how you got yours in the mount did you loosen up the 4 anker bolts ? Mine we didn't as we did not see they were adjustable
Thanks for the video! Would you so kind to measure the distance between the holes of the mount? I'm going mount it to a drywall that has a concrete wall behind and I'm gonna do some prep work before I get the tv :)
Please tell me you drilled extra holes, seeing as the far left, and right, holes were too high. Wonder why you didnt hold the bracket against the hole markings BEFORE you drilled? Thanks for the video
Not sure if it’s different sizes for the 55inch but given what it’s like drilling into brick I would recommend you drill with an 8mm drill bit… this was sufficient for mine.
Can a different articulating mount be used on the 77" G2?
Pleeeeeaaaaase tell me how to Adjust the angle!!!
I’ve just finished installing my lg g2 but it’s not level and it was extremely difficult to fit it on the wall
Hello... Can you angle the TV once it is wall mounted?
Looks pretty nice
It's a very nice design! It's incredible how close to the wall of is! The picture is amazing as well
Great video 👍
For times when you may need to pull out the TV and turn it like on a motion mount, can this be achieved with this bracket?
Thanks
I believe so. You can pull the TV forward again and tilt it to the left or right if you need a different angle.
Is the lg g2 wall mount good and safe or should I buy another mount?
No one talks about that
On the 83” G2 do you have information on the distance from the top of the TV edge to the top of the wall mounting bracket? Bottom edge to bottom of bracket would be super useful also - I’m framing and need this impossible to fine info prior to thE TV arriving.
Did you ever find this out? I’d like to know too and it appears others as well.
Very good video. Just one thing, the SDS drill bit required for the supplied plugs is 100% 8mm & not 10mm. I know because I hung a 55” G2 this past weekend.
i have a 55 G2 on the way right now, coming in one week - can you give some tips on your experience, if you had to do it all again, that might be useful in my own attempt?
It's 8mm
The included screws, are they for wood?
Do I have to use that mount can I not just use a mount already on my wall?
Thx for the vid. Is there a slim mount like this for an 83in C2? Would it be as flush to the wall as the G2?
No only G2 has the gallery bracket unfortunately
@@WhatGear thx for the reply and the heads up. That’s unfortunate but Appreciate it.
Can you mount this TV with a conventional wall mount?
What about drilling into the studs?
Good explannation! I have ordered the same nice LG2 65 inch tv. Mine view distant is 4.3meters, do you think that is too close?
No, it's perfect 👌
@@WhatGear Oke thank you!
What's the distance from the TV to the wall with the bracket fully extended? I want to install a hue lightstrip behind the TV and it needs atleast 10cm to have a good effect. Can you even leave the bracket fully extended or will that damage the bracket over time?
I’d say about 10cm, but it’s extremely flimsy when pulled out
Please advise how long the power cable is and if it is fixed permanently into the TV or is on a 2/3 pin plug? Tks
Can’t comment on the length of the cable but can confirm it’s wired into the TV so if you need to drop it behind the wall, you’ll likely have to cut off the moulded plug. Hope that helps
Mine didnt come with the guide paper what are the measurements
Hi, I have a question. Today I had an lg oled 77 g2 TV installed. It is placed in a high position in the room. At the moment of installation, the installers placed it on the fixture. One side sat well and the other side did not. As a result, it came loose from the fixture and its rear plastic has some marks from the fixture. Would you require a replacement for a new TV? In such a situation because of some signs that are not visible or remain with the existing TV?
how did you align the tv straight? the bracket i put on is level, but the tv is wonky! How can it be adjusted?
It just kind of let me twist it a little bit when it was extended off the wall.
Can you please tell me if this Wall mount bracket fit for a 2022 LG C2 65 ?
Thank you
No, Only standard vesa
Just a quick query ,you mentioned the larger drill bit being 10mm , my 77" had 8 X 8mm diameter wall plugs x 60mm long .
Must admit it's a well designed bracket , just waiting for a second pair of hands to mount the TV .
Good video 👍
Yea I also used an 8mm masony bit for the plugs after a 5.5mm pilot. It was a nice snug fit which is exactly what you want.. mine also lined up 😆
True. It‘s an 8mm drill hole, not 10mm.
Hi, what’s the distance in cm from wall to the TV? I have electrical sockets on the wall installed, literally behind the TV.
wondering if LG G2 is actully bad idea for me.
You can actually use the bracket to space it away from the wall if you like. Fully closed, it's literally a few milimeters away a from the wall
@@WhatGear so you are basically saying not to fully close it ?
@@lekutano5355 the bracket is rigid enough to hold strong even when fully extended. So yes, you don't have to push it all the way back
@@WhatGear this is the part that isn't explained. It's always shown against the wall. So you're saying we can still use bias lighting. Nice.
Best looking mount for the g2!! But the biggest pain in the ass
Did you screw them to the stud? I did not hear you mention and thought that was a requirement. Looking to buy the 77 and would like to know what I am in for lol
My walls are old school solid brick... If they weren't then you would absolutely need to
Do u have to use the lg wall mount or can u use a different one ?? I want to ordered a g2 to but want to use my old wall mount
I believe it is a standard vesa mount
My 77" has a standard 300 x 300 Vesa bolt pattern. I used the Gallery mount though..
@@lannym ah ok sweet I am going to order one
hello. please tell me, I choose between 55 g2 or 65 c2, I will look from a distance of 2.3 m.. I worry that if I buy 55 inches I will want more, and if I buy 65 inches it will be stressful.. the room is dark
Why stressful? Go 65 for sure
@@JoShUa95160 thank you, I 've already bought 65. and I really want more
Why not show how you adjust the angle after the tv was installed?
From one novice DIY to another. You dont need a 10mm drill bit to get the plugs in. U need 8mm and then use a hammer (gently) to get the plugs in. 😅
I found that the two clips that are supposed to be snapped in place after the TV is mounted to the wall bracket do absolutely nothing at all. They do not secure the TV to the wall bracket. I went out and bought a stand.
The wall bracket has four keyhole slots, and on the back of the TV are four large screws that slide into the keyholes. Once those slide down into their respective slots, there's no way way that TV is coming off the mount. Unless, someone were to lift up on the TV for some reason. Which would be a strange thing to do, but I suppose someone could do it, although I've never seen anyone do it or even try. So, those clips snap over the top of the upper slots, making it impossibe to lift off the mount. Now that you have a stand, you have to worry about somebody knocking it over. And that is something I have seen happen...
Does the type of wall matter? I got a 77in and an engineer is advising not to use the bracket that came with it because its "too small" and my wall is a "dot and dab kinda wall". I am just unhappy with this as the TV wont be flushed on the wall with a different wall bracket. Just need more inputs from other people.
From the common sense standpoint of liability and warranty, LG's provided wall mount is likely over engineered for what it's intended purpose is. As long as your mounting surface is suitable for having a TV wall mounted on it, the mount is the least of your worries.
Japan retail box does NOT contain a wallmount but comes with a stand...
This was so annoying, found this out a few days ago.
Too bad the LG G2 wall mount is so narrow. Having mostly drywalls with a distance of 62,5cm between the studs, I don't see an easy and reliable way to mount the og wall mount to my walls :(
That sucks. There is a stand option available
Theres alot of drywall ankers that support over 20kg per hole. And the tv only weighs 35kg for the 77inch and 23kg for the 65inch. So probably not a problem imo.
@@pontuswetterstedt6485 Agreed. I use toggle bolts that support 250lbs each but I won’t mount it unless I hit at least 1 stud in the process. As strong as those bolts are I do not trust drywall alone. Better safe than sorry.
@@krylonblue yup, one stud for peace of mind, for the rest, toggle bolts for the win
@zurak71 My studs were to far apart, I used two 5mm thick steel bars into my wood studs and mounted the tv bracket directly to the steel. Sticks out 5mm more but isn't noticeable.
can i mount it on a arm? for desk use
Yes
Why did you drill 8 holes? Wouldn’t half as many work the same?
It depends on the wall and the weight of TV
All my drywall anchors like ripped through the drywall when I tried to screw into them. Just used 2 for each side into studs. Wasn't a fan of that process.
Same here . Had to move the bracket where the studs were which of course it’s not centered , really annoying looking at a tv not centered between my windows
Question... did the screw just screw onto the wall? Or did u manage to get the stud????
It's mounted to a brick wall in this video
NA moment
👍👍
Can you use any brand of brackets to Mount this tv?
It comes with a wall mount but it’s not a moveable one and they don’t recommend you use other mounts
The one in the video basically
And no tv stand it’s sold separately 😊
Hi!
Hey Priyam!
Nice video! Choosing not to hide the cables inside the wall, how did the cable bundle sticking out under the tv effect the slim gap between the tv and the wall? Can you push the tv all the way in not squeezing the cables?
My only issue with this mount is how poorly designed it is in terms of properly securing the TV to it. There is no reason to have the bottom holes enclosed while the top is wide open. This means one must line up the bottom holes ahead of time. The issue with this is on a larger G2 there is no way, even with the poorly designed guide stickers, one can see the proper mounting points because it’s in the center and up top. In my experience most people want the TV mounted way higher than any other TV and you just can’t see a damn thing.
Its not terrible, but i get your point. About as annoying as the Samsung Frame tv. Itd be nice if they'd just make it one piece instead of two separate brackets
@@DR.K14 Agreed.
I had to do an 83 inch a few weeks ago and it went well. But there is very little room for misalignment when setting it on the bracket and if only one side goes on it’s difficult to get off.
Samsung and LG really need to make better brackets here. The LG bracket will surely hold the weight but I wouldn’t hang my tv from it that’s for sure. I’d be using a more premium mount but I don’t care about the flush look.
@@krylonblue any mounts you recommend for the g2? And any of those make the TV flush to your wall?
@@NYC_Goody There won’t be any that go flush because the reason the included G2 mount can do so is due to the recessed area the mount rests in.
I am not one that wants my TV to be absolutely flush. I want my TV to be easily accessible along with the soundbar being mounted to the TV. Because of this I use a Sanus Advanced Tilt 4D in tandem with a Sanus soundbar mount specifically made for my Sonos Arc and Beam soundbars. It comes in handy that my TV can pull about 7 inches from the wall for cleaning and whatever else I need.
@@krylonblue I'm probably going to have the TV sticking out from the wall anyways for a better viewing angle
Look people, measure your center point on the wall where you want the center of the TV, forget about guide, all you need to do is measure the length of TV. Then if you mount the bracket to the TV 1st then measure distance from the top of bracket to the top of the TV. Simply remove the bracket from the TV then mount it to wall. Then mount the TV to the mounted bracket. Don't be making hard work for yourselves.
Theres a Real problem with this Tv it can rock out of alignment very easily which makes the bracket not worth pulling out, It also renders you with fear wondering if its stable or not, The problem is the bolts rest in Slanted orifices that can rock up and down
Thank you!! Just a suggestion? Everyone stop adding music to your instruction videos...it is soooo annoying and hinders people's ability to hear what you are saying. Speaking for myself I don't want to hear someone else music to begin with, but when I'm trying to learn, the music is a real pain in the ars! I would never do it. Thanks, Again.
THAT'S WY YOU WATCH A CZcams VIDEO BEFORE DOING THAT! LOL.
It's that low on your wall, you might have well used a stand 🤣
