Introducing the ID.Buzz. After an almost 20 year hiatus, VW decides to bring back this icon to the US and electrify it. Inspired by the VW minibus, which looks like this, the ID.buzz has short overhangs, nice long wheelbase, these “air vents” on the d-pillar which is a nod to the original Microbus’ cooling slots, and a large illuminated VW badge on the front. Even with its boxy dimensions, it still has a drag coefficient of 0.29. The two tone paint gives it a retro vibe, the large 20 inch aerodynamic wheels give it some style, and the LED light treatment in the front and back give it some modern flare. Let’s sit back and gaze for a second.
The ID.Buzz that we’ll be getting here in the states will be the 3 row version which is almost 10 inches longer than that of the 2 row European version that debuted back in 2022, and will have more horsepower and a bigger battery. This bus rides on Volkswagen’s MEB platform with a low mounted battery pack that not only saves space, but also give it a low center of gravity. Like the original microbus, the powerplant is out back giving it standard rear wheel drive and has a 91 kWh battery and 282 hp, which is more than the 2-row euro spec bus’ 82 kWh battery and has 201 hp. Opting for available AWD with a dual motor setup in the 3 row ID.Buzz bumps up output to about 330 hp.
The ID.Buzz actually looks much larger in person, but doesn’t seem overwhelmingly huge which should be good when maneuvering around tight spots. It’s 192 inches long and it’s as wide as the 2-row VW Atlas, but stands 5 inches taller. All that to say the inside is plenty roomy. Seating for seven is standard, and available 2nd row captain’s chairs make seating for six. The high seating position up front gives drivers great visibility outward, and there’s standard 12-way power adjustable driver and passenger seats with memory settings, ventilation, and massage functions. Oh, and don’t forget these fun ‘Pause and Play’ brake and acceleration pedals.
Apart from the center console, there’s also a storage spot in the dash, a wireless charging slot next to the steering wheel, and 8 total usb-c outlets around the cabin including one near the rearview mirror, and on the passenger door. With a removable console and a flat floor, you and your friend can compare socks or whatever the kids are doing nowadays. But let’s see how a tall drink of water like myself fits in the other 2 rows.
2nd row occupants will also have a USB-C port on both sliding doors and a control switch that opens up a small square window which is a modern take on the classic sliding windows. It’s not the biggest window, but if your rear passengers want to adjust the temperature, those controls are located above the doors, and each row has their own dedicated air vents. But now, I know you’re dying to ask “what about cargo space”?
The second and third row provide some good flexibility when hauling people and cargo. The 3rd row can slide forward for more cargo space, and the flat floors help maximize cargo capacity. And for those who don’t even need that third row, the ID.Buzz has another trick up its sleeve.
Along with practicality, this EV wouldn’t be complete without some good, modern tech. There are 30 ambient light colors, outboard second row heated seats, 5.3-inch digital gauge cluster that displays important driving information, and a 12.9 inch touchscreen with wireless apple CarPlay and android auto.
Available features for the ID.Buzz include an electrochromatic sunroof, heated windshield, 14 speaker Harmon Kardon audio system, and that flexboard with 2 fabric storage bins.
Standard safety tech worth mentioning is Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive, which includes blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, lane assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, and additional features like 360 degree camera, head-up display, and park assist with remote parking.
I have to admit, the ID.Buzz has charm. From its many easter eggs to the functionality of the interior, you can tell a lot of thought went into reinventing this VW icon, and will definitely look to spark up some interest with older and younger buyers.

USB power for dash cam is genius! Should be standard on all cars.
Agreed, but I think it would be better if the front facing cameras that all cars have could be used as a dash cam itself instead of installing an aftermarket one.
Or could just have one built in, like tesla has.
All great comments gentlemen. Hopefully they lower the price of ev’s like they did for weed 😂
Second best option next to having the car use its built in cameras but I honestly prefer to have my own separate Dashcam
Mike Danger you’re a National Treasure. I’m so glad you and KBB found each other.
Aww thanks so much!
For sure!!! I started watching this channel with Funny-guy Micah, then there was cutie, Lyn. Now, there's Danger.. No, not that stranger danger!!!! The danger which you want to have with you in case you get flooded(Yeah that was a dad joke, and an attempt to joke about his stature) LOL!!! We all love ya, Mike!!!
@@Kiss__Kiss 🤣🤣🤣 i love a good dad joke. LOTS of love comin right back to ya! Thanks so much for tuning in 🙏🏾
Only review/person to show how to easily remove 3rd row and lay inside while 2nd row and 3rd row are down.. Good job 👍
Happy to help show simplicity & scale 😊 thanks for watching!
Ok, this is the best review I have see you do for KBB! I was smiling and giggling all the way through. “I’m not judging”…LOL……oh yeah, you are!
Haha thanks! 😉 no judgement!
Mike Danger, I thought you were going to sing Don’t Worry Be Happy when I saw how you were dressed at the beginning of the video. Very chill, man, very chill.
Mike Dangerous.
Making us fall in love with cars we don’t need in our lives.
🤣🤣🤣 hey that makes me feel like I’m doin something right! 😎 thanks for watchin!
Dangerrrrr killing it yet again. I have a 2020 Pacifica PHEV and love minivans and after watching the video am considering trading our 2018 Rav4 for this.
That shirt is 🔥. Keep doing your thing!
Always appreciate hearing from ya, Eric! Thanks brotha!
I am SO grateful for the team we have. Honestly, I'm not sure where we'd be without Mike.
that usb placement for a dash cam was pure genius
I told myself that I would never get a minivan. But i think this might be the one to get.
Not “Ah Tall Drink Of Water”, I just LOL’d at work 🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣
I can't wait to see one in the wild! I currently really enjoy having a real 4WD truck, but after this "phase" I could totally see getting one of these for surfing / cycling. Very cool!
Was looking for a fun, engaging review of the ID Buzz and y'all nailed it. Finally!
Haha thanks for watching, Thomas!
Thanks for the great comment!
Nice seeing two grown men can sit in the third row. Very impressive space.
I can see a Mystery Van wrap creating peak nostalgia
Mike Danger is the coolest and has the most Swag auto reviewer ever. 🙌
Aww dude Raymund I appreciate that!! Thank you!
We think he's pretty great, too.
I’m very surprised this is coming to the North America market. Let’s see if the soccer moms actually buy it. Looks very roomy, practical and utilitarian. I absolutely love how they modernize the original design, great job VDub! Per usual great review Mike Danger ⚠️
Nah, it doesn't have a lower trunk bed and the 3rd row seats can't fold flat into the ground like every other van. No 2nd row stow-n-go option. No sidewall space for vacuum or charger cables (?). No passenger cam or rear entertainment (?). It doesn't seem practical for parents. Maybe hippies from the past will get it for nostalgia.
Seems narrow, not adequate cup holders, no federal tax rebate as the vehicle is built abroad, second row windows too small, not adequate cargo when third row seats are open and yet this costs more than a spacious Toyota Sienna.
If I were to buy a van this or the Sienna would be my choice
@Rocky stow and go is only available on the Chrysler/Dodge Van's. It being fully electric is enticing as the closest to it is the PHEV from the Pacifica which loses the stow and go feature due to the location or the battery. Rear entertainment is something that can be added after market so it's not like it's the end of the world for this not to come from the factory that way. I do wish it had a little more room with the 3rd row up, atleast enough to fit a stroller
KBB has the finest presenters! Great review Danger, super cool retro EV!
Thanks Jim! Good to hear from ya!
Absolutely love the looks of this van, awesome work vw
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada I really enjoyed the video unfortunately with ev if you live in an apartment building there is no charge station you have to utilize public level 1or2 chargers
First time watching this presenter....I could watch his content all day. .A relaxed presentation with some goofy humour. ❤
Glad you enjoyed the video! 🎉
This looks like a winner! Or at least that’s what Mike Danger’s managed to convince me to believe! 😂
I think this will be a fun ride!
Danger Mike is here baby!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
🥳🥳🥳 booyah!!! 💥
Such a great looking car. Was hoping for this to come to the states.makes me wonder what configurations can be made to it in the future for "activities" 😂. Love the shirt! Let's see if this can be added to our fleet or replace my old 13 year old car.
Mike Danger I enjoyed this so much! It's as much about the person presenting it as it is about the product.
Thanks for watching!
I'm not even close to being the target audience for this car but I admit it's very cool!
But it will be popular on the used EV market in 10 years. But not many can afford a new car these days so they probably won't sell many.
An ev beetle would be a big hit!
It really is traditional Volkswagen which I haven't seen in a while. It has personality and has the old school VW coolness and quirkiness. I'm actually odee excited for this
Good job. On the review. I enjoyed every moment of it
The "Love Van" is back baby!
🤣🤣🥳
Great review Mike! Love your takes on these fun models
Hey thanks for watchin, Ashok!
really like the ID Buzz. Just surprised that the second row seats do not come our or have a center fold down cup holder arm rest. Will they have the two tone seat?
I've never wanted a VW more than I've wanted this.
The best review I have watched yet on this vehicle and I have watched a bunch. Thanks and God bless,
Hey thanks for tuning in and joining us! Much appreciated 🙏🏾
Love the vibes & song !
great review!
Can't wait to see some camper builds
Right! This is gonna be a customizer’s paradise.
🤞🤞on the price. One of the best reviews I've seen for this. Great work!
Hey thanks for watching!
Always loved the vw bus! Loving the upgrade
Seems like a cool car, great video Mike!😸
Appreciate you as always, Ryan!
It's perfect!
Fantastic! I want one hehehe. Great review guys!
Thanks for watching, Guillermo!
GROOVY!!!
great review as always!
Thank youuu!
The old “VW mini Bus” said no one ever lol. Just Bus or Microbus lol.
Anyway the details are looking great. Americans need that long wheelbase. No mention if option for facing seats with pop-up table like the Eurovans, or any mention of a Westfalia pop-top version. The host seems unaware of any of this history but that’s ok. Most folks will buy it because “it’s cute” lol. But it looks like a serious German platform that could be built or modified to many versions. The prior Bus versions were van life before the term existed. It’s back!! 🌴🥥🤙🏼🤙🏾🌊
Europe will get a California version next year. Probably not the USA, however...
Kudos to VW for pushing the boundaries of electric vehicles!
Okay this actually got me hype!!
They should have given it round LED headlights as a nod to the original.
Will there be a pop top option? Swivel seat options? The third row seats are removable -- are the second row seats removable also?
A pop top option would be awesome.
Absurd and I want it.
I like the differences for the North American version, especially the glass roof panel. But not a fan of that blue. I hope it will come in the metallic lime green (with white). Or maybe orange. I like how you laid down with the seats all folded down in it in the video because I am thinking about this as a great car for camping with a memory foam mattress in the back and the other videos I've watched haven't even bothered showing all the seats folded down at the same time. Looks like I would need to choose the row 2 bench seat instead of captains seats to be able to get a long enough flat sleeping surface.
Mike D brought the funk on this one! Groovy!
Thas right! Thanks for checkin it out!
The camerawork in this video was SPECTACULAR! I'm surprised it wasn't photobombed by a certain blonde car reviewer.
The background music made me think I was watching The Why Files youtube channel...lol.
Actually that may have been her socks.
@@br4nd0nh347 Oh yyeeeaaahhh.
It just stunning!! I need to start saving for this one.
Nice review Mike.
Thank ya Steve!
I really want one, I love it!
Dash shows 65% and 175 miles which means 269 mi full range. Great for such vehicle
Best rundown on this vehicle
Appreciate that, Aaron!
Your so tall you kneeled to open the hatch? Or is the latch really below your knee?
Cool looking.
Apart from being such a cool EV, I’m not judging 😂
🤣🤣
@volkswagen - please keep this buzz going for a few years!
Expected range at 260 miles? It's just not far enough. Remember you're really only supposed to charge most of these cars to a max of 90% daily. And then when you take into account AC/Heating and then higher speeds on road trips that range will drop probably another 35-40% (speaking from experience with multiple Teslas). The other issue is generally poor/unreliable charging options. At least with Tesla the range drops on longer trips aren't that big a deal since the charging network is so good.
My Golf EV gets about 100 miles a charge. I drive about 25 miles a day and charge at home. Most Americans drive less than 40 miles per day. The anti EV crowd keeps pushing mile anxiety, when the reality is it is a non issue for the vast amount of people...
a fancy car 😍
This will sell like crazy! But I feel they could do better with the interior packaging..
Great job, M danger!
Thanks for tuning in!
This is kind of the mini van I would like to buy, so sick
Is there a Fast Forward pedal? Eject seats?
“EJECTO SEATO CUZ!!!” -2F2F.
Totally cool van. Would be great if VW offered it in a camper version.
He mentioned the didnt release range yet but i did noticed at 3:43 the dash says 65 percent battery and 175 miles left. Fyi
I’m hyped!!!
I love it!!
“I am not judging “ famous last words, hehe
Hey Mike, where is the Camper-van?
been waiting for years to come to usa. this bus is really awesome. wish I could afford it, @ $50,000, wonder, will offer leasing ?
VW can have a commercial for this van with That ‘70s Show cast 😂
It's cool, but very much a luxury vehicle. I wish vw would make a stripped down model to capture the vibe of the original.
This is gonna be a hit
I need one
Suddenly i want to open a food truck
I want this
When and where can see the car?
Okay..... I've always said EVs will never have room in my garage. BUT, this thing? With AWD? I'm a likin' I'm picturing myself, driving the grand-kids everywhere!!!!
I like the older one .
Interesting
This is the car americans will flock to when they can't afford rent anymore lol start rhe revolution! Everyone go van life !
The only electric car I want! It’s so fun looking
And again, my bro here, is not judging 🤣
Prob the few times I actually want a minivan
Fit a 4x8 sheet? :)
keep it PG!! 😂 got it 😂😂
😭😭😭
They should have kept the original styled steering wheel!
Plugin hybrid would be better for me. Still like it though.
Wish it had a wider three seat backrow like a real minivan... We need a 8 seater.
finally after years since they teased with with the concept...
My first EV will be this one, hopefully is sick expensive!
Just wish they made a gas engine version so i could actually road trip that vehicle.
Will it run the same software as the ID4? If so, no thanks! - Zoomer
That’s a new of Johnny Cab’s Vehicle company
If this thing wasn’t an EV, I’d be all on board man.
The reason VW stopped selling the Eurovan in the USA was because of poor sales. These will sell out because they are electric...
Love that it's finally coming out (in a year) but I just feel VW is going to make it stupid expensive. I hope it's at least built in the US for the tax credit. Also limited to 99mph, really? Pass two cars on a two lane road and you can be over 100 no problem with 330hp and probably 400-500 torque.
It's 10 inches shorter than an Odyssey, significantly less cargo space, will probably be $15-$20k more (optioned similarly) and not easily able to long road trips. Also major lack of cup holders (typical trip, coffee in the AM, lunch on the go means at least 2/person) none in the 2nd row that I could see since the tray table is Euro only.
Fine for grandparents but I don't see many families getting one unless it's only one kid. (Had an Odyssey for 17 years with two kids and used every bit of it, 4x8 sheet goods, and soccer teams).
