    3:17 Actually a single H on German license plates means it's registred in Hannover, not Hamburg.
    Cars registred in Hamburg instead starts with HH which is short for Hansestadt Hamburg.
    The Volkswagen Transporter/Multivans are made in Hannover, so it's very likely that the Buzz is made in the same factory.
    In Hamburg the VW Group only have a small MAN Diesel & Turbo SE plant, manufacturing components. They don't assemble any cars in Hamburg.

    Kyle, as an owner of multiple VW vans, I’ve always felt like a big part of the noise was from wind, but a lot of the sensation also comes from the echo and resonance inside that big box with lots of flat glass. Did you get any sense of the source of the noise?

    The wind noise is disappointing. As a kid who grew up being driven around in the back seat of my family's dark green 66 VW sundial camper bus, I can vividly remember the hurricaine-like wind sounds at the windows, especially the windwings, competing with the din of that little air-cooled engine giving it's all at 60 mph on the freeway. Perhaps VW is allowing a little too much nostalgia to creep in to offset the quietude of the EV drivetrain. We loved our 66 and kept it until the late 80s, it was my first car but was not up to daily commuting across LA to my first professional job so I sold it to a VW enthusiast and bought a new car. I regretted selling it then, and I still regret it to this day. Perhaps this new EV will find its way into my garage.

    I had a 1967 VW Bus when I was in college in San Francisco in the late 70s. It was not fast, nor powerful. But I sure had some good times in that 😉!
    I may not be able to wait for the Buzz to come to the US. I may have to go to Europe and rent one for a road trip there! But when they come here, I’ll be in line! White and blue, just like my old Bus.

      Well they are different categories of vehicles of course. One's a family friendly suv the other is a 486 HP sporty sedan.
      My id4 has alcantara massage heated seats. With the help of lumbar support and much softer suspension compared to a sports sedan, both my boyfriend and I agree the id4 feels so much more comfortable.
      The rwd offers 0-100kph in around 7.5s. Definitely slower than my M3p's 3.3s but enough for real world usage. Handling is not as good either except during tight space parking thanks to the surprisingly tight turning circle. It's always more practical when i need to haul stuff around. Once i had trouble putting all my 4 cats and their traveling cases inside my M3P sedan trunk.
      However there are disadvantages over a tesla: software sucks, phone app sucks, no supercharger network, low effiency, slower charging speed, no tesla cam and sentry mode.
      Overall i love them both. Hope it helps.

    You know, I and my husband were both REALLY excited when we saw that VW was FINALLY coming to market with a production version of this new "Micro-Bus." We are HUGE fans of the original bus, which has long been an icon in automotive history. But where that original bus was a built specifically to appeal to the masses and especially those who didn't have a lot of money to spend on car, VW has decided to make this new bus a high-end electric status symbol which will be WAY above the financial means of most people here in the U.S. If this starts with a base price of $60,000, the trim levels with all the most loved features will be $70,000 - $80,000, which is not just a shame, but it's insane! We are talking fully loaded Mercedes E Class or BMW 5 series money here. You could get a fully loaded Genesis GV80 AWD Prestige with a 3.5 twin turbo V6 for that kind of money, which just blows this vehicle away in regards to luxury appointments, power, quality and reliability. VW missed a GREAT opportunity here to make this an electric vehicle for the people, like the original was. What they are bringing to the U.S. instead, is a vehicle targeted to the upper crust with fat bank accounts, who have fond memories of the buses of their youth, but who are discerning and are going to be disappointed in the level of luxury features and quality that this ID. Buzz will offer for such a high entry price.

      the one single good thing in this car is the beautiful and cool look, except that, it's an expensive piece of crap (nothing exceptional in the interior or the tech, everything is usual and cheap build plastics).
      if u like the VW bus, look at the new T7 hybrid, it's a little bit more expensive than this one, but at least you get a high specs and build quality for your money!!

    • @lorenzmuller4000
      @lorenzmuller4000 Před rokem

      I think your estimated price is way too high. A fully equipped ID BUZZ costs 74000€ here in Germany which of course includes the VAT. That would translate to $60000 in the US, with a base price of $50000.

    • @primemoverRR
      @primemoverRR Před rokem

      @@lorenzmuller4000 74,000€ converts to $74,989 US dollars. That would also not account for the extra cost for the AWD, dual motors and larger battery pack which will be for the U.S. model, along with the extra costs for extending the wheelbase and adding a 3rd row seat for the U.S. model, so my estimates are pretty much right in line with the current pricing and probably under-estimating the extra costs associated with the upgrades planned for the U.S. model.

    • @lorenzmuller4000
      @lorenzmuller4000 Před rokem

      @@primemoverRR Again, you forget that the European prices include the VAT which you need to deduct to get a comparable US price.
      The easiest way to compare the US price to the German price is to look at existing models.
      The ID4 AWD Pro starts at $46295 in the US (with everything you need already included), while in Germany you need to pay almost 65000€ to get a similar equipped ID4 GTX.
      What I want to show you with this comparison is that even after deducting the VAT from the German price, the US price is still lower.

    • @acchaladka

    @richard--s Před rokem +1

    I guess, the rear center arm rest would be an option, maybe locked to a trim level or a premium package or anything.
    Maybe they have it by chance in another review ;-)
    This car is so new, there would not have been any detailed information out when you were driving it.
    But another CZcamsr was test driving another car and said, oh it's a bummer, it does not have a rear center arm rest, so he does not like that car. (Mr. "Newland" on the e-C4 back then).
    Well, of course they have it, just in another trim level, even with cup holders - in the e-C4, already at that time. He was testing the basic version... And the car was already out for some months, he could have looked it up easily.
    But as I mentioned, the configurations surely were not released for the buzz when you were testing it. Maybe someone from VW could have answered that at or after the event.
    And I really would guess that the ID buzz would have an option to get a rear center arm rest, maybe with cup holders. It would really be weird if they don't have that.
    ----------
    But the charge ports in the rear sliding doors of the "buzz" are not ideal. You also mentioned that.
    Maybe the idea was that the car is so wide, that charge ports in the door could be more convenient than in the center. That's the only thing I could imagine why someone would put the charge ports on the sides and not in the center. Yes and no, but the sliding doors would pull the cables as you mentioned it ...
    Maybe having charge ports in the sides (behind those doors) makes sense for the third row that might be accessible through that same door with the seats of the second row tilted forward - for the long version. Typically the seats could be removed and charge ports in the sides would not require a rear center console for the third row which would take up space even with the seats removed.
    But for the second row, charge ports in the rear end of the center console between the first row seats would be way better than in the sliding doors.

    Great video, seems to be a very nice car with a few details not too great but maybe fixable. But definitively, charging port should have been on the rear left side, not on the right side, and definitively not in front ! Snowy roads, salt, freezing rain making the front covered with ice, not thanks. Yes, I am driving in winter Norway with CCS in front and talk by experience.
    And really nice pockets on the rear front seats to forget your phone in !

    Funny how you don't like a bunch of stuff, but are so stoked to drive it that it all sounds positive anyways. Sounds like you enjoy retaining invites from manufacturers to review their products. A fine line to walk I guess since that is your job. In these types of reviews I pay attention to any criticism over any hype or feelings because I know you have a job to do and you try to keep things positive. Batteries must not be very good if they keep more than 10% off limits and don't allow very high fast charge or for a very long period. That will need to be improved for the US model.

    Give me this..., but make it the long wheelbase version, with a rear engine 2.0 litre turbo (like the one in my Passat), Syncro drivetrain, give a 5 spd manual transmission, sunroof, dual sliding doors with split window sliders (like on my Micro Bus/Vanagons). Thank you...Did anyone pick up on how much i miss my Vanagons...RWDs and Syncros!

    Can tell you never drove the original VW bus. What you call semi slow acceleration would be like a rocket in comparison. The 'neet' hand hold straps in the back and the hand hold I see over the driver's door is straight out of the original bus. I have a 71 Westfalla camper I would love to get working again. To bad they do not have a Westfalla version of the buz
