Best EV for your family?! Volkswagen ID Buzz 2024 review
Vložit

- It's an electric take on the Kombi or Bulli of yesteryear. But way, way better.
I've just driven the VW ID Buzz model in Europe ahead of its launch in Australia in the latter part of 2024, and it is astoundingly excellent.
This is unlike any other EV - despite being about the same length as a Tesla Model Y, it's a boxy bodied family people mover van, and there's a three-row seven seater model confirmed for Australia too!
Watch my review and you'll see why I want to buy one. It's that good!

A great review as always Matt. Really like your honest unbiased opinion. To me, electric vehicles are far too expensive at the moment. I'm keen to venture down that path in the future but the infrastructure in Oz just doesn't cut it presently.
Thanks mate!
Hi Matt, I am wondering is the VW's own new ID.7 Tourer (in EU at least, not sure about AU) not an alternative as well? It is also a 5 seater, big trunk, better range, rear windows go down, but similar price.
Am excited you are on a road trip - an international one!
Haha I was a few weeks ago. Now I’m in Brisbane about to drive more EVs! 🤔
Well as a Queenslander, you've scored the jackpot twice ;-)@@therightcar
Hi Just bought a Commerce plus in the UK. Looking to convert cheaply with plasics & lightweight seats in back. Camping kit porta loo & shower. Hot water from solar & pre heat panels. Control battery 20w panel for dashboard top ups. Tesla Off Grid UK battery pack.
Probably single pop up panel with bed on the roof.
Not sure of time frame. Just enjoying the best dodgem camper car I dreamed of as a kid. Now where do I slot the money.
In the key safe wallet.
Nice.
Great Review.
Nice Van. My first VW.
Partner has a Polo.
I will get a spare & finger jack kit though.
Hoo Roo.
Terry.
Good on ya Terry.
They better price it right otherwise it will struggle against the LDV Mifa.
What price is right, do you think?
@therightcar seems a little expensive. Base trim should start around $85k and go up from there. With such a green house interior, I hope the Aussie spec cars have rear A/C vents.
Rear set climate is coming. Together with the lwb 6 and 7 seater there will be a swb 6 seater option. And a 85kwh battery option, up from 77kwh. 4wd And Heatpump.
SWB six-seater? Ooooh.
Came for the scenic shots ...... Nah, I bloody love this thing and I don't even need an MPV! The Ford Maverick does the same thing to me, I don't need a Ute either, but would own a Maverick in a heart beat! I wonder how much cheaper the ID Buzz Cargo will be?? That might be an option for someone that can't reach that hefty price that's being suggested for our market and doesn't really need an MPV, but still want's one of these things. And at that price, you'd expect rear window to go down and rear air vents!! Or rear air vents because the rear windows don't go down.
I've always had a thing for compact Euro cargo vans and also their MPV equivalents, a SWB Citroen Berlingo Multispace XTR comes to mind and have always thought they'd be a better suited vehicle for people to own than the sea of SUV's in Australia, but it's certainly not the case! Haha!
I love Euro vans too - would love to have a Peugeot Bipper Teopee or a Citroen Berlingo (the new activity-focused one).
This has that vibe. But on a bigger more expensive scale. I loved it!!
Which country are you in , for this short. I really enjoyed the beauti,,,,, of the landscape :)
Thanks! The video was shot in Austria!
Thank you :)

That's my question too... Thank you! Now, i love Austria...
Okay for a Van. People who need space but the kia EV9 will take the people mover for a while in Australia. The LWB need lfp battery and third row seats.
Okay?! Hahaha
I have no need for a van but I want this. :)
It’s that kind of car!
Blackout Bowan sponsor for these EV reviews. Trouble is in Australia the infrastructure to recharge them is patchy at best.
Will be around $100k
Is that a good price?
Ridiculously expensive
Nice motor, but who can afford one, not l!
80K would be a fair price
Here’s hoping 🤞
Should be 450-500 miles on one charge and lower price
I’d love to join you in la-la land champion.
WHAT??? You cant wind down the rear windows??? DEALBREAKER
Yeah, the windows don't wind down, but if you check out the LWB, those windows in the doors slide backwards.
Insane price. Can see why the Chinese are cleaning up.
Reckon a $100K EV Chinese van is a better bet?
The LDV is a bloody bus and luxury at that.@@therightcar
If this is how this car comes at 100k plus then its already a fail before it launches here
What does it need to cost, in your opinion?
@@therightcar I honestly don't know but with all the flaws you reported theres no way I would buy it period. This near enough is good enough give me all your money attitude that car manufacturers have needs to stop. I bought the 22 WRX wagon and it was the biggest mistake of my life, it's a second rate car with no after sales support.
Lost interest at no spare wheel.
Electric vehicles aren’t going to be for you then - unless you want a cargo van like the Peugeot e-Partner or Ford e-Transit!
@@therightcar Can you explain why EV,s don't have spare wheels ?
@@therightcar i wouldnt even know the last time i copped a flat and had to change a tyre> Dont know why no spare is such a deal breaker for some. Looks like a pretty sick van.Hopefully pricing comes out before mid year.At the moment im still looking at the tesla Y
