- Marvel Phase 4 is an unmitigated DISASTER. The M-She-U Phase BORE has been one character vandilization after another to make way for all new, uniteresting, derivative characters proving not everything is a mantel. Many of us for years have been saying this is going to happened based on the data provided by the source material. A comic industry that has resorted to conflation just to look relevant. With their willing and able allies in the access media they have pushed the 'Toxic Fan' narrative as far as they could. Disney Marvel is finding out that the long decline could have been avoided if they remembered a staple of business. The customer is always right. Now, they are the competition.

End Game was a good place to stop. They should have taken a pause and figured out where they were going next. Instead Kevin just wanted more women in the movies because he was embarrassed by Wonder Woman for not. What a mess.
I stopped at infinity war, they lost the end.
I can't stand how Thor was built to the peak we saw in rag, just for him to be turned into a fat blabbering moron; and captain marvel had no place in the movie at all.

I stopped at Infinity War - End Game was utter garbage and the narrative shift was clear as day between the two films.
They are going to milk that MCU cash cow until it turns into dust, zombie corporations follow a more…vampiric strategy now.
Maybe instead of continuing the universe they could just make a new one, a au. Different versions of characters we already know with different villians or villians we already know but more threatening or have a different backstory.
As soon as you mess with the timeline by jumping back in time to change the outcome of some horrendous event, then the audience feels cheated; all their previous emotion was wasted. It's hard to maintain a connection with these people if at any time someone has the ability to alter the timeline again. It's a cheat to keep favorite characters around, but slowly but surely you care less and less about them.
It hurts me so much inside to acknowledge how bad love and thunder is… I think the magic is gone

Funniest thing aside from the MCU itself is how many folks on social media keep tryin to make it seem like they can do no wrong. So much comedy and delusion.

I'm only 3 minutes in so maybe you'll talk about this in this video, but one of the most frustrating 'trends' in all of phase 4 was to turn ALL of the male superheroes into throw away comedic pawns, even in their own movies...
Examples:
Thor: Love and Thunder - Thor is basically an idiot who can't seem to do the right thing without the help and support of Valkyrie and Jane Foster
Spiderman No Way Home - even though this movie got a lot of praise, I couldnt stand the fact that both Peter Parker and Happy are portrayed as male idiots with horrible ideas, and only Aunt May and MJ have any sensible plans while they constantly make fun of Peter and Happy.. even Dr. Strange was an idiot in this movie
Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness - freaking America Chavez... do I need to say anything else? Dr. Strange went head to head with Thanos and an almost completed Infinity Gauntlet in Avengers Infinity War, but cant seem to handle the villains in this movie or the villains in No Way Home
Then there's what they did with Loki & Hawkeye in their shows... which I didn't even watch
It's because they HAVE no story to tell, and rather than spending money on THAT, they would rather spend it on marketing it as "inclusive" and "diverse". Sorry, I watch movies for the story, not the diversity. If I needed diversity, I have the real world for it.
i agree completely but i think for the most part spiderman was left alone because aunt may was being stupid and died because of peter and happy was just really sad the whole movie. plus MJ had to get saved by andrew

Maybe it's already an discussion internally behind closed doors, but it seems things won't change till a shareholder backlash when the stock price really drops.

I have purposely not paid a penny to go see Dr. Strange or Thor 4 because it does eat at my conscience to spend money to support an agenda that violates the morality of my worldview, and also condoning them to continue to put out bad movies. I know I'm just 1 person and dont mean much in the sceme of things, but if we really are getting burned out with the storytelling and we all held back, maybe they get the picture.
I have been to every single MCU release on the Thursday before opening weekend because of Iron Man - Endgame. That world blew my socks off. But for me, the MCU coupd have ended there and I'd be happy. And so far, it has ended there. No Way Home, for me, was brilliant. Maybe it was nostalgia, but I loved it. Thats been it for me for phase 4.
If your product fails, and you have the unmitigated gall to blame your customers for its failure - you don't belong in that business.

You can clearly see that these days, writers sit down and go "I am going to write a strong woman!" instead of "I am going to write a strong character that happens to be female!".

Why did I already know years ago that Phase 4 would tank? You go from Hulk, Iron Man, The Avengers.... to Eternals, Shang-Chi, Black Widow, female Thor.... I mean, it was SO obvious that they would never come close to Phase 3.
I'll never gave money to Disney and Marvel and I said this out loud in front of my homies. They said STFU and don't watch Disney movie in cinema ever again because you're complaining too much. I did it and my homies is one of the normies that still think it's fun to watch.

When I've watched Endgame, I simply told myself that I'm glad what we had so far. It's going in cinema history and nothing can change that. The fact they split the phase on movies and TV shows is enough for me get on the negative side. Spiderman was fabulous but can't tell the same for the rest of movies. I didn't watch the TV shows and not sure if I need to...

Top Gun Maverick opened with a clip of Tom Cruise THANKING the audience and saying the movie was made for them. Now contrast that with Disney‘s toxic, anti-fan behavior, and you have a prime example as to why their movies are failing. They now make them for themselves and their own agenda.
I always remember two clips - 1) Gal Gadot doing a promo for Wonder Woman and saying with a big warm smile on her face that the movie is for everyone, boys and girls alike, and 2) Brie Larsen's sarcastic "the movie wasn't made for some 40yo white dude" when she talked about Captain Marvel.

Top Gun Maverick was a very simple story, the only part I liked about it was the dogfight scenes but other than that the story was really nothing special or interesting it was boring.

You know that later on after they are forced out and the studio starts to make better things that they'll try to claim that they had to do what they did to the MCU to get to that point. Been listening to Nerdrotic for months, and he's always spot on. He represents us older comic fans very nicely. I haven't touched a comic in a couple of decades at least because of what is happening to them. The Demon in a Bottle Ironman storyline, the Dark Phoenix sage (the original one), all comic genius. Now, we got garbage. The Xmen sank when Byrne left the comic, Ironman went downhill after Micheline and Layton left the comic, Spiderman was great under Todd MacFarlane, but has declined since. You get my drift. Comics, and now the MCU, all suck because woke ideology has replaced good story telling.
And there are so many good storylines that they ruined or skipped. Multiverse of Madness didn’t have to be about Wanda. Hell we could’ve gotten Madam Webb bc Doctor Strange was already linked with Spider-Man bc of No Way Home. But nooooo, Wanda wants her kids 🙄🙄🙄

Marvel is going downhill ever since the infinity saga was over. The movies just don't even feel real anymore. They're way over the top, too fluffy, and way to Hollywood.
Considering the success of shows like Reacher and Terminal List, and the new Top Gun film, it seems clear that a film made along the lines of Ironman, which launched the MCU, would be a huge success. That demographic still exists and will fork out their money.
Before Thor I told myself that was their last chance, if it turned out disappointing I was done. It was a pure shitshow. I hope Taika Waititi never touches a Star Wars script or another Thor script. I’m done after this crap content. Kenobi ruined bother the prequel and original trilogies with the absolute mess that story created of everything. Taika Waititi had no business trying to make Gorr the God Butcher. That comic story was one of the darkest more brutal of the Thor comic series. All the off the wall comedy and goofiness didn’t lend itself to Gorr. His character is to serious for all that. It’s a great comic story not meant to be pissed on like it was. It’s painfully obvious they just used the characters and made up the rest. We never even see Gorr take out a god after the first 5 minutes. Hard to be a God Butcher like that.

Already canceled Disney+ after the Obi-Wan Kenobi letdown. The last Marvel movie I watched in the theater was No Way Home. I'm not paying Disney $ just to get social politics hammered in my head constantly. They have been sacrificing good storytelling in order to fit their agenda. Sick of it!
Stan Lee dying is why this is happening. There’s no voice of reason or someone to tell them that everything they’re doing is wrong or stupid. He was the source material. He was the brain and the heart and now we’re left with a vegetable on life support by Disney.
Stan was indeed "The Man". Not just for the profound amount of characters he (and Kirby) brought to life, but his logic and sensibility: "Create a meaningful story" & "Never forget the fans, or as he called them "True believers".

Just because later on “woke comics” were created under the Marvel Comics name doesn’t mean he had anything to do with it. I don’t know how the comic industry works but that doesn’t seem like something Stan would let happen to his “existing” characters which is why the “woke comics” are completely different people under the same hero moniker, like Female Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel.

I remember this. I knew as soon as we let End Game do that whole woman girl power scene at the end; it was doomed. No one bitched at that scene except me who was like was it really necessary? Just fight along side everyone. There was no need for some girl boss bullshit. AND as soon as we all let it slide and didn't complain or bitch about it; it lead us to here and everything transpired. You let 1 thing slide and then the entire party starts planning a coup.
They are trying hard, but they need to ask why. A recent trip to Disneyland Paris the "Marvel Universe" was awful the worst part of the park. They need to stick to what they are good at, classic cartoons and Pixar.

Black Panther, Moon Knight, Blade, Scarlet Witch, Deadpool, DareDevil, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Ant-Man & the Wasp, Loki, Captain America (Sam Wilson), Bucky Barnes, The Hulk, and Thor.
You got all of these heavy hitters currently in the MCU and they're just dropping the ball constantly. Phase 5 needs to really amp it up because if they can't honestly get people back interested in this film universe, I don't believe they'll ever recover. With 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' being the last mcu film for phase 4, I'm hoping they really deliver because this is the shot in the arm that the MCU needs.
Meanwhile DC/WB changed management and cancelled some of their upcoming movies, finally they listening to their paying customers! At least let's hope this is for the better and eventually Marvel/Disney will do the same!

Introduce the Shi'ar ( queen lilandra/ imperial guard). Adam Warlock, Dr Doom, a better Kang, better Celestials, better eternity. The shi'ar would be a great gateway to the X-men and the dark phoenix storyline. But hey, let's go with female(insert silver age male hero), woke diversity characters and the message. They could've made billions at the box office with multi generational audiences.

First they told me "Yes we will realase the OV (English Version)" than they told me "We will not show it" than I got on to the Website a Few Weeks later to see "Oh they Finally Showing the Original Version"! Holy Moly! And I was able to watch the Movie at the last Possible Chance on a Saturday at 11pm in an Empty Movie Theater" LMFAOO! But at least the Movie was Decent! 🙂

My biggest complaint from Phase Bore is the lack of goal. With the previous 3 phases it was clear. Phase 1 introduce our heroes that would become the avengers. Phase 2, dealing with fear and consequences of knowing a threat is coming. Phase 3, well end game. Phase 4 is what exactly? Killing the past?

The main problem with the MCU is they had a story to tell and they told it. Now the goal has changed from "Tell the story" to "create content" and rather than begin to construct a coherent narrative, they're simply coasting on trying to appeal to hotbutton social media talking points. And hey, there's nothing wrong with wanting representation/equality, but if the story sucks, its simply incredibly cheap and annoying to see them hide behind the "oh you're just a bigot and hate progress" wall to cover for the fact that many of these movies are just not good.
There is something wrong with wanting representation. You reduce a person down to their characteristics in order to try to check all the right boxes. It is inherently dehumanizing because it suppresses a person's individuality. You aren't a person. You're just the sum of your categories.

@@gaeb611 that is the problem they aren’t doing it in a way that is clear. By the first Thor movie in Phase One the Easter eggs started pointing to Thanos. Loki series revealed a version of Kang. They have all the X-Men at their disposal and can borrow from Spider Man corner of the universe. They are just doing a horrible job and it’s just too early to bring in the multiverse so prominently. They still haven’t really explored space and the gods of the main universe enough to make people invested in a couple prime worlds. They should have just leaned into the Secret Wars, Skulls vs Kree, great way to introduce mutants. With the infiltration of those aliens into hero & mutant teams setting up phase 5 Avengers vs X-Men.

I use to love the MCU but I have disliked a lot of what they have done recently. I couldn't believe when everyone was saying Black Panther was the best MCU movie. I thought it was boring and just as bad as Captain Marvel. I haven't been watching any of the shows sense the falcon winter soldier show.

Not sure I agree. I haven't seen anything since the first Dr. Strange. I'll probably watch Endgame at some point. I have family & friends who have all bailed on the MCU. Some tried watching Moon Knight, a few had some good things to say about Hawkeye (that is if it was a comedy) and the one who tried watching Ms. Marvel told us not to bother after one episode. Everyone meeting at the movie theatre to watch an MCU movie is a thing of the past. As is purchasing any merch new merch - whereas we all had Captain America T-shirts.

I was reading Marvel comic books in the mid-80s. I watched every film in the Infinity Saga. To me, the MCU as a continuous story arc ended with Far From Home. The only MCU property I've watched since then is No Way Home. And I'm not just boycotting Marvel products while really wanting to see them. I genuinely have no desire to see them. It takes a gargantuan screw-up to take a lifelong Marvel fan who saw every movie up to phase 4 and completely remove their desire to see almost anything else from Marvel.
Then missed out on actual good comics which are DC.

People keep saying No Way Home only succeeded because of Sony, but after the disaster that was Morbius, I really don't think anyone can make that claim. I honestly think No Way Home was just an example of lightning being captured in a bottle. They had all the right people on the right project at the right time, and they made something amazing. I doubt either studio will be able to replicate its success again any time soon.

NWH was successful for the same reason all the Holland Spider-Man movies were successful. In professional wrestling booking, they call it "hotshotting". That is when you throw as many big names at the wall as possible to make the match or angle an event. In Homecoming, Tony Stark plays a major roll and you have a stunt casted villain (Keaton was awesome by the way. No complaints. ). In FFH, Nick Fury takes the Place of Tony Stark and you again have a well known Hollywood Star as the villain. NWH had Strange in for Stark and Fury, and the biggest pile of fan service in MCU History. Now all of these movies were very entertaining and are rewatchable, which is more than I can say for most of the MCU, but Tom Holland has not shown that he can carry a Spider-Man movie on his own. The reason I bring that up is that it Tom Holland was the first (second if you count Ant Man)of the second generation castings. Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Ant Man, Captain Marvel, and all of the Disney plus characters do not carry the charisma or gravitas of the first Gen characters. I believe this is mainly due to poor writing, but casting may be an issue as well.

Hmm, the only three superheroes I knew as a 90s Russian kid who never read a single comic book were Superman, Spider-Man, and Batman. I had no idea who any of the other comic book characters were. That's how you can measure if a character is iconic or not.
Now that they're pushing all those Z-listers to the big screen, I can only become increasingly baffled at their decisions. How filthy rich do you have to be to just throw away the amounts of money 99.99% of the Earth's population will never see on some no-name characters to push The Message?
I think the funny thing is, in a week marvel will release another superhero movie trailer after their new thor JUST movie released! It fwels like they release new movies every months, why? People crap on EA for releasing sports games every year but marvel has already released like 14 new movies and tv shows and its just half of the year so far.

A second phase where the multiverse is on the spotlight now with characters like dr strange, spiderman, thor & guardians and the villain would be the scarlet witch. After phase 2 would end and the multiverse would be safe and scarlet witch dead then introduce galactus or doctor doom.
The mcu could have been great. But unfortunately they didn't learn anything from the comics and we all know how well they're doing now. It's a shame.

I just call Phase 4 "Phase Bore" Phase 5 shall simply be called "Phase Jive" because it's gonna be like Phase 4 just with more Jive Turkeys.
Also. X-Men will simply be called The Mutants and yeah. That's my que to get out of the MCU for good. It literally ended for me after Infinity War. Thanos won. I mean shoot everything after Infinity War has felt like cheap imitation filler. Maybe the MCU should have stayed dead after the Snap? Cause man. The stuff afterwards has been HORRIBLE.
Spider Man has been good-ish. Of course that’s just two things out of a hundred or so, so that doesn’t even come close to saving the MCU.
@@crusader0074 It could have just been a stand alone honestly. Like it is its own thing in my mind. The last MCU title to have the word "Man" in it so yeah. It closed the book on the MCU to me. It also opened up a possible good future for Spider-Man but we'll see. Who knows. I just feel like everything from here won't be good or will be completely unwatchable.

there is plenty of media I do not enjoy and a far easier way to not get frustrated about them is to simply not watch them.
When the first Spider-Man with Tobey McGuire came out, all the industry insiders were wetting themselves with glee because finally the special effects could keep up with the requirements of the stories. Given the volumes of comic books already written, the content was almost inexhaustible. It’s beyond me why the studios decided to forgo so much content and lead us to present day where nothing seems to be left.
Comic books are basically storyboards for films it should have been so easy.... but no.
I think X-Men was the first movie to show what modern technology could do for comic book movies.
Batman style comic book movies were the only real option before that.

It seems to be what's required these days to get there. Big mouth (probably also some connections or a rich dad) all talk, no walk.

Loved the first two Phases of the MCU. Each movie felt like picking up a different comic book with the looming arc of Thanos and the Infinity Stones. There were parts of Phase 3 I enjoyed and others I hated or didn't see. I think the MCU was stronger when it was a joint venture between Paramount and Disney. They had to play nice. It also helped that Ike Perlmutter kept Fiege's worst impulses in check. The other things that crippled the MCU and the comics have been documents ad nauseam on this platform. I hate seeing my favorite characters lobotomized and I dread what is going to happen to the X-Men and Fantastic Four in the MCU. The trouble with Disney is that it's the wrong place for Marvel (and SW).

yeah, I would have disagree with you about FF and Xmen 4 months ago..BUT NOT NOW. I am at the point THAT I DON'T WANT Feige/Disney to make ANY Xmen movie or Fantastic Four movie....BECAUSE IT WILL RUIN the franchise. And then, my comic book collection prices WILL TANK. Seriously, Hold on to YOUR OLD VIDEOS AND MOVIES of Xmen and Fantastic Four...because they will become beloved classics as compared to the SHIT that is coming soon.

Ngl for the longest time now, I was a part of the Age of Ultron hate wagon. I genuinely disliked that movie a lot, and thought it was a candidate for the worst MCU movie out of the lot of them.
Nowadays though, I have so many positive things to say about it and dozens of beautiful memories of watching it and quoting it. It’s a little rough around the edges sure, but you’d have to be either brainwashed/hypnotised or more easily brought off than a poor person on the streets of America to front an argument that any one of Phase 4 Marvel movies that doesn’t have the word Spider-Man in its name is better than it. Hell, even the absolute worst films made by DC are still more watchable and enjoyable than most of phase 4 (key word, most).
So thank you Disney. Thank you for improving my opinion on a 7 year old movie through the complete and utter assassination of one of my favourite fictional worlds home to some of my favourite fictional characters. I seriously hope it was worth it you absolute tools.
Avengers 2 was weak but less annoyingly so than Phase 4.
I will never forget modern Disney, modern MCU oh I'm sorry the M-She-U, Kevin Feige, Taika Waititi, Victoria Alonso, Jac Schaeffer, Brie Larson, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Bad storytelling, Natalie Portman & Tessa Thompson for what they've done to our characters.
