How do you create a multi-million dollar Hollywood franchise? Give Kathleen Kennedy a multi-billion dollar Hollywood franchise.
Also, give her permission to burn it to the ground and she does it with a smile every fucking time.
Brilliant!
*destroy?
accurate
More like 10 cents....
There’s NO WAY Kathleen DOESN’T have blackmail against some people in Hollywood, it’s the ONLY explanation for her being around.
She know where the bodies are buried, no question.
Well, look who she hired for her showrunner for The Acolyte: Leslye Headland...Harvey Weinstein's right-hand lady.
Nooo. It's progressivist snarkiness. The destruction of our favorite characters is an excercise in power to show how "godlike" they are. Oh you like Indiana Jones a strong confident capable man? Oh you love intelligent, charismatic, competent Captain Picard? We'll destroy them and there's nothing you can do about it. They have nothing going for them and they know it. Misery loves company. That's it.
She has the Epstein Docs!
Oh, it’s not blackmail; it’s narcissism. Narcissists are scary good at charming people. She manipulated her way to that position.
There was already a tough female character who fought evil alongside Indiana Jones in his stories. Her name is Marion Ravenwood and all the fans love her!
Yes, they saved each other's lives many times.
I also liked that woman from temple of doom
Yes!!!
@@jonslade17 (sarcasm) saved each other? how problematic! she should be saving him without ever needing help herself
Yeah no, she sucked, she was just one of the many Bond, I mean Indy girls. Things already went wrong with that character in Crystal Skull, utterly pointless and terrible movie as well.
i went to this movie with my son. Halfway the movie my son asked to go home, he hated it that much. He actually didn't relate to any caracter. We were maybe 10 spectators in the theatre.
Amazing. Everything you just said... was wrong.
Nah, it was spot on 👍
And you’re son is like…. 12? 😂😅😅 Most kids get bored easily and don’t recognize art.
@@RussellGreerOfficial Kids are more intelligent than you think. It's what we teach them that makes the difference between making them smart or not.
Kathleen Kennedy did this on purpose! Imagine the hatred needed to spend 10 years destroying two of the most beloved franchises of all time. She is insane.
you are right, insane enough to burn money, like the joker
although actually this is not insanity, it's stupidity
Somebody -- a board? -- had to overrule the direction she has gone in: killing off male franchise figures to replace them with female figures. There has to be a better way to continue stories and sustain franchises, surely?
I strongly believe Kathleen Kennedy is psychotic
They are NOT giving all they can, and they aren't trying to cater to fans or continue a beloved series. They, like all media, are not genuine anymore, this is just another pricey virtue signaling propaganda piece. White man bad, masculine man bad, masculine woman good, independent woman good, minorities good, whites bad, Nazis bad. Consume new product, be excited for next product, say byebye old ways, spry new woman is in town, yass queen. They don't even care about profits, they have merch, and even if that doesn't work to make up the cost, they checked every esg score box well and will still get big funding and approval from blackrock and other conglomerations that don't allow anything that sends "the message" to fail. It's meant to demoralize those who don't loyally eat up everything their favorite corporation dumps out, and those who don't align with "the message".
She ACTUALLY believed those words were for her. She ACTUALLY believed Spielberg was going to kiss her ass. What a glorious moment.
"Actually"? Wow! You sound pretty sure with your, "Actually"!
Actually, one should never begin a post with, "actually". Because, actually, beginning a post with, "actually", comes across as arrogant and condescending.

The scene with Phoebe riding a motorcycle into a hurricane to jump onto a moving airplane, with her sidekick 10 year old who has never been inside of a plane, piloting in a hurricane category 5 storm to fly has to be one of the worst things I've ever seen.
Omg that is as horrible as it can get 🤦😔😁

@@VincentPolite I get what you're saying but the idea of a 10 year old never having been inside of a plane, just randomly launching and flying inside of a hurricane while the college graduate with 0 training girl launches herself into a fast moving plane from a motorcycle in a hurricane did it for me.

Holy s*** that recording of Spielberg complaining about Kathleen Kennedy is absolutely brutal. I had never heard that before. It's damning proof of how much of a egotistical fembot she was even back then, sitting in a room with arguably two of the most successful filmmakers of all time.

This movie wasn't poorly written. It was deliberately written like this.
Dial of Destiny is NOT bad up until the midway, last 1/3 3rd act. Then this 🎞 goes completely crackers!!! 🙀

@Frosst because these people want to desecrate the beautiful things of the past to make room for the things of the future they want to replace them. Indiana Jones represents a strong male lead. They hate that and they want to embarrass him and make him look stupid so when they replace him with a girl boss all you can see of the past is mockery and scorn.

As much as it hurts to see my beloved childhood heroes desecrated by this wretched harpy, hearing Speilberg say out loud that Kennedy was an incompetent twit brings a slight smile to my face.
I am surprised they didnt fire her ass back then why keep her around
I totally agree with you.
Exactly. He just confirmed what we knew all along! What qualifications does she even have to be part of this team? Infuriating!
Unfortunately this isn't a phenomenon restricted to the world of cinema. I work in live theatre which is full of talentless hangers on who think that just because they were in the room when the grown ups were talking qualifies them to run the show. Kennedy is definitely in that category.
I used to work in a healthcare facility where a new director was brought in and he replaced all the department heads with his friends who were all completely incompetent. The facility was suddenly being run into the ground and we had no way to make things better so people started leaving. It was a nightmare. This kind of crap happens in every industry. You realize that people at the top of the ladders are usually completely useless and do far more damage then they are worth. Warren Buffet once said that he never understood why CEOs are paid what they are because they either have a slightly positive impact on a company or a very negative impact. Very few were ever actually worth their salary, there’s one Steve Jobs to every 10k Kathleen Kennedys
you'd think after Top Gun Maverick came out, filmmakers would get the idea of what the audience wants
they know what we want but there ESG score will not let them have it
I came here to write the same thing

I watched it twice in theaters and I really enjoyed it. It wasn't as good as Raiders or Crusade but was enjoyable.
It's a pretty good movie. I really liked it, apart from a few scenes and characters.
To see Kathleen Kennedy snubbed on stage (rightfully so) warms my heart and gives me just the barest glimmer of hope. Also, at 1:58, with KK sitting there like that, am I the only one that thought of Jabba the Hutt?
Why does Harrison Ford keep returning to allow his beloved characters to end like this? Does he hate them that much? He doesn't need the money. I wish more actors would pull a Henry Cavill and tell them to eff off and walk away. That sends a pretty clear message. Unless, of course, the actors are drinking from the same Kool-Aid. Is Harrison Ford drinking from the same Kool-Aid?

The moment I heard Stephen said that Kathleen was good at interrupting mid sentences, it all makes sense to me now.

I didn't know it at the time but the 90s was the last golden age of cinema - Goodfellas, Misery, Schindler's List, Heat, Seven, Groundhog Day, The Usual Suspects, Boogie Nights, Carlito's Way, Shawshank Redemption, Fargo, Pulp Fiction...an almost endless list of brilliant films. So glad I experienced it - so sad that quality of film-making has disappeared. No wonder cinemas are struggling today.
I think the last decent year was 2007 with american Gangster and no Country for old men.

I didn’t realize just how awful this was. Thanks!! You saved me 2+ hours of teeth-grinding misery.
These clowns are so out of touch that they actually believed the audience would accept (maybe even support or root for) a main character who’s completely insufferable, unlikeable and condescending, all without the benefit of being even remotely easy on the eyes.
From what I’ve seen of her and read about her, I’d surmise that her outward appearance is a strong indication of what she’s like on the inside.
BTW: setting aside for a moment what ultimately transpired, wouldn’t the mere act of sending planes through a Time Fissure back to 212 BC change the course of history in itself?
Engineers from that time could’ve created quite a bit of havoc after getting their hands on the 60’s technology found in the wreckage of those planes. They could’ve created devices that would’ve caused mankind to take a huge technological leap that would’ve completely altered History.
People in 212BC wouldn’t have understood modern technology or been able to fuel or use it in any capacity.
I wish I had the level of job security that Kathleen Kennedy has.
She is like a super hero and her power is never getting fired no matter how much money she loses.

Looking at this story I can't help but recall an old joke from the cold war era: The americans spent 20 years training a perfect spy to infiltrate the soviet Russia. They taught him every aspect of the local culture and he was speaking grammar perfect russian. Then as a final part of the operation they air lifted him to deep Siberia where he begun his mission. Much to his surprise, the first villager he came in contact with asked him if he was a foreigner. The spy was dumbfounded, how could his cover be blown so fast. So he asked the villager: What makes you think I'm a foreigner? The villager responded: We don't see too many black people here in Siberia 🤣

I find it interesting that Hollywood treats old characters exactly the opposite of what Japan does with its manga and anime. In Hollywood almost all old characters are fragile, demented, old farts that need to go away for the new more smart and awesome generation, while in Japan old characters usually are the most badasses of all.

I saw the writing on the wall and it costed me big! I was invested in Disney with my whole retirement fund. After seeing what Kennedy and Iger was planning, I set out to get out! Yes I had to barrow two times my investment off my home and leverage down next to my original investment. I just had to wait and then my chance came two months ago and I sold everything. I even sold my time share back to Disney as per the contract. I made the right decision and now I’m free of complete Morons in Disney!!! What a shame such a great company gone to. And it was the complete incompetent CEO, Bob Iger & Exes like Kathleen Kennedy!!!
Drove an hour to see sound of Freedom in the nearest theater to my home. It was SO worth our time and effort to be there. Indiana Jones music was playing from the adjacent theatre when we left & I felt pity for the folks who’s spent their money on trash like that- when real heroes’ stories were being told next door. Seeing this film with my husband and son has made a huge impact on us: meaningful discussions, personal resolutions, private donations- we are moved to do our part. That’s what those who appose this film are afraid of. Be brave- go see it. It’s deep, it’s important, & it reminds us all- how Precious a gift it is to be freed. It will move you.
Well said
I find it crazy that the writers never realized how Helena Shaw is the antithesis of Indiana Jones. She is just like every other enemy he fought in the previous movies.
Helena Shaw seems more like Beloq's Goddaughter than Indy's.
Yup, she’s basically the antagonist most of the movie. I was waiting for her to hit indie over the head and steal all his property.
To the writers, she is a hero. It's because the writers are part of the mentally deranged rainbow group.
@@AlexanderShibilski Well... If she's in the next one, then I'd say you are a fortune teller. Right now you're sitting at %50.

That little behind-the-scenes recording of Spielberg laying into Kennedy as being a talentless hack who didn't do the job she was hired for, writing down notes on ideas during brainstorming sessions, but instead butting in mid-sentence with her own garbage takes, is quite the epiphany-inducing revelation of why she should have never been allowed anywhere near the creative process.
Indeed...but as with most powerhungry despots..they know better then anyone..and take no prisoners... won't be talked back to...why is this woman still a thing.... can't she just go away?
Especially when she admits she isn’t creative - at all, and “is in awe of those who are creative.” Her words. She says this in “Light and Magic”

I was curious when was that Spielberg interview done? The time and context?
Exactly, and that makes me think she might be blackmailing them.... Who knows with what if this is the case. There has to be something going on so she could climb so high....
I thought I was watching Polar Express for the first 20mins. Harrison Ford's CGI attached head was terrible.
I'd be interested to see Kathleen Kennedy's take on Lucas' American Graffiti. Should we message and remind her that there are still a few Lucas works that need to modernized with the MessageTM?
As someone who grew up in the 70s and 80s I absolutely loved these franchises in a way that most younger people may not fully comprehend. You have to understand that back then we didn’t have internet or cellphones, and only had four or five TV channels. This isn’t a dig on today’s generation, but we generally had to rely on our imaginations. On cold, snowy days, I would pretend I was Han Solo on Hoth. In the Summer, my bicycle became a ROTJ speeder-bike. Cardboard Christmas paper rolls became lightsabers. An old cord became a bullwhip. Etc etc.
It’s hard to overstate the emotional bond some of us had with these characters. Pajamas, curtains, lunchboxes…. We ate, lived, and breathed Star Wars and Indiana Jones.
I say all of this to emphasize just how personally some of us are taking her treatment of our childhood heroes. It’s like a personal insult. I understand that Harrison is aging and needs to retire from these roles, but the INDIGNITY that she is putting them through, all apparently for the sake of her woke ideology, is infuriating.
I also grew up watching great Disney shows like The Cat from Outer Space, Escape from Witch Mountain, Dragonslayer, etc. as well as many hand-me-down comics and books from the golden classic era, featuring Mickey, Donald, and the rest.
Disney didn’t suck. They produced outstanding, family-friendly classics, and they set the gold-standard for high production-values and entertaining movies.
Now they have sunk so low and milked their franchises so utterly that many hardcore comic/super hero and Star Wars fans aren’t even watching half of the crap that they are putting out. (I’ll probably never finish Andor or some of the last Marvel series shows).
It’s disgusting and sad.
As a 46 year old, this resonates with me massively. Those of us who were lucky enough to grow up in the 1980s developed a huge 'bond' with characters like Han, Luke, Leia, Indy, and Willow and to see them mistreated this way is genuinely heartbreaking 😔
I know exactly how you feel. Tragic ending to these wonderful movies.

There have already been attempts to modify classic works of art, and I don't mean remakes, I mean actual changes on old classics. Some of them have been successful on a level of removing Bad Words from new prints of old books etc. If things were allowed to take their course without any resistance, we would some day be in a situation where those original movies would not exist, at least not in the form that they once did. That is essentially what people like Kathleen Kennedy are aiming at. They want to completely hijack the work of others to the point where even the original work becomes theirs.

What these companies and directors are doing to these franchises, trying to change their DNA to meet some aggenda, reminds me of a prank I saw a long time ago. They gave these kids these vanilla ice cream cones who were excited to have them. However, they were served mashed potatoes that was made to look just like ice cream. Obviously, they immediately spit out the potatoes making all sort of faces of disgust. That's what all these re-engineered franchises are experiencing right now. Everything about this review is spot on!! Especially the de-aged Indy that still walked and talked like an 80 year old. Plus, all the plot holes/dead ends: what happened to him being framed for murder and his bloody prints being on the phone? How did the arch villain guy survive that incident/injury on the speeding locomotive in the beginning? - no one could have. Thought they were going to explain it by having him had used the dial to go back in time to become a version of himself right before the incident, but nope, no explanation there. And most of all…when captured/wounded Indy was flying into the time fissure with the Nazi’s and he noticed bullets rolling through the cabin that made him think of “continental drift” and realized they would not be traveling to 1939 - the way he came to notice that and the immense emotion in his voice when urging them to abort mission confirms that this was intended to be the villain’s vital mistake, like choosing the wrong grail in The Last Crusade. However, when Indy and Helena land and speak to Archimedes, it’s revealed that the dial was designed as a “forced deck” by Archimedes as a cry for help and that it’s only capable of bringing them back to that one place in time, no matter how it’s used. And in the beginning of the movie, Indy explained how it could find time fissures in thunderstorms, but the scene in the ancient times was on a sunny, cloudless day - so how did they get back to the 70s so fast? And how much fuel did that little plane have? And who was the black chick? Was she an undercover agent? A villain with a moral compass? If so, why?
This movie was clearly chopped up and re-written several times to improve the storyline, to no avail

This is not a quote he ever said. Please stop virtue signalling with lies.
@@apk4381 It's a paraphrase of his writings (Frodo says something similar about evil in Return of The King). One can argue that the quote is simply from a piece of fiction, but anyone that is familiar with Tolkien as a writer and person knows everything he wrote was rooted deeply in his own beliefs. So he may have never directly said it himself, but I think it's fair to say it's what he believed. That being said, we've all seen the quote 15 billion times on every video Nerdrotic has uploaded... we don't need to see it again.
@@AdoreYouInAshXI I don't remember the exact quote, but I seem to recall Lewis making the same point in Mere Christianity, that good can exist for its own sake, even in the absence of evil, but evil can only exist as a corruption of good. Considering the only reason literally anyone on the face of the earth knows who KK is is because Spielberg and Lucas let her hang around while they created masterpieces, she sure has a high opinion of herself!
The ONLY reason she's in her position in the first place is because of her gender. Gotta fill those quotas in fancy positions somehow, you don't get those DEI/ESG points by luck!!

Mr''s, Spielberg and Lucas chose their coffee girl,,,,,poorly.
The hilarious thing is, it would have been SO easy for her to be a success. Literally all the hard work had been done for her. Multiple beloved franchises, and enough expanded universe material that could have been milked for decades. She could have done basically nothing and been remembered as being a success. There were 1000 paths she should have walked and 999 of them lead to incredible success and billions of profit. She managed to find the 1 path out of 1000 that lead to the destruction of lucasfilm. What an absolute fucking loser she is.
She must be an exceptional modern chameleon.
She was just the wife of some wealthy guy that put up $ for all the great movies they cranked out back in the day. That's it. She was married to $ but somehow got added to the 'Producer' title card.
Unexpectedly, I would have preferred to see Mutt again at the end. However, I think he wanted nothing to do with the film. So, it's better to write him out than recast. As a parent, I believe the loss of Indy and Marion's son would cause debilitation between them to the point of great emotional wreckage.
Exactly
*Spoiler Below*
Though the ending was nice having both Indy and Marion reconcile which really elevated the film from “meh” to passable
I saw the film in a theatre last night, and out of all the Indiana Jones movies, The Dial of Destiny was by far the best acted. It showed Harrison Ford as a mature actor and human being, who could convey deeper emotions than just the adrenaline action of fight scenes and daring escapes. There were plenty of those too. It showed a hero who was nearing his sunset, and there was a poignancy to the end result. So, to all the detractors, too bad you missed the point. From Young Indiana Jones through to this final chapter, it shows that heroes also come to an end. Hopefully with more compassion, kindness and understanding toward life than they started out with. In that respect, it is a fitting ending to the life and legend of Indiana Jones. It's a good movie - WELL WORTH SEEING. In that sense, IT IS NOT A FLOP. Having read a lot of the reviews, I can see that what the audience wants nowadays is to shit all over someone - at least the audience that listens to this nullity of a reviewer.
Did you get chatgpt to write this nonsense? And the movie is a financial disaster, that's not opinion, it's a fact, the masses hated it and at least the people who made the movie lost a bunch of money! lol
@@bobmcthirth I wrote this review after ACTUALLY seeing the movie. In this final chapter, Indiana Jones was diminished. He had suffered deep personal trauma and tragedy. He lacked his old confidence, and his sense of inadequacy and powerlessness at helping others also came through in different scenes. His life no longer commanded center stage. Harrison Ford's acting clearly showed all of that. His life wasn't just a comic book action hero - which I'm sure many fans were looking for. He showed deep sensitivity and regret for his past shortcomings. It wasn't all just bravado, action and violent reaction. Sure. That's not what all the toxic reviewers were expecting, and IMO, their denigration is quite revolting, because they missed much of the subtlety. Why? Because the the acting overall was quite good - and in Ford's case, excellent. Just because a movie doesn't make money, doesn't make it a "flop" artistically. The scene at the end where Indiana Jones is pleading to be left behind is viscerally heartbreaking - because for him the grief and pain of returning to that suffering filled reality are just too unbearable. Those scenes in and of themselves, were worth the price of admission - because most "action" movies, don't actually have actors acting other than as talking action figures. "BAM", "POW", "SMASH". Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, surprisingly wasn't just that. Sorry so many fans were disappointed in that fact.
The fact that I lost my job for accidentally double-scanning a $3.84 item in a Target checkout lane, but Kennedy is still employed after losing Disney over $900mil combined at the box office is how I know we are in the matrix.
Also, Harrison already did a proper movie where he plays an old, tired, sad man. Blade Runner 2049. So I don't buy for a second that Indy 5 "appealed to him."
At least his character was not ruined in Blade runner. His legacy in this would not be forgotten.
Money is no object
I think Harrison put it best "how much"
It's weird but Ford never really like the characters or stories that made him famous. The stuff he liked was the pretentious trash he did in-between that nobody wanted to see. I guess that's why towards the end of his life he's willing to trash those characters and stories for a paycheck. He doesn't believe in legacy, or else, he doesn't want the legacy he had.
That's called capitalism
Boy, that video of Spielberg not calling out Kennedy is the best Plot twis he wrote in his life, Priceless.

Disney has destroyed Indiana Jones franchise.
Spielberg's take on Kennedy is amazing. I actually never thought about the idea she isn't evil, she's just not smart or creative but is desperate to prove herself so keeps showing up.
When she suggested that Indy should get the dog instead of getting the girl, that was her way of trying to insert the feminist teachings she loves. Now, we get to see the true deconstruction of the characterizations she opposes. She's a vile beast.

The determination to have a strong female lead and ending up with a character that’s just insufferable is very reminiscent of The Rings of Power 🙈
Hearing Spielberg talk about Kathleen Kennedy supposed to be taking notes, from better story tellers like Spielberg and Lucas, but offering her ideas instead suddenly makes all this clear. I didn’t even realize this movie existed until like a week ago. I honestly thought this just came out. I guess it was that unimpactful.
Disney / Lucasfilm have actually achieved something - they’ve made us immune to feeling any excitement for a new film based on classic IP - Star Wars, Indy, Willow, Pixar animation, Marvel, … You have to be really commercially ignorant to do that. Thank goodness for Tom Cruise and Super Mario!

I have almost entirely stopped watching modern movies and when I heard that Top Gun: Maverick was good I refused to believe it. When I finally did see it I was so stunned that I nearly shed some tears of joy and I genuinely think it's better than the original.
@@nkw1985 It's crazy that these companies can't even understand how to make a good movie anymore. Even worse is that Top Gun actually conveyed the messaging these newer movies spend the whole time cramming down our throats. It had diversity, everybody at the academy was on equal grounds and it didn't have any 'I'm better than you because of my gender/race' bs... How to normalize things? Act as if it IS NORMAL... That's how good "strong female characters" actually work, they act as if it's normal. The more time you spend talking/complaining about how people like you aren't in these positions (ironically while being in that position) or how you'll never get this/that opportunity, then all your doing is continuing the stereotype that people like you can't be in those positions or ever get that opportunity so don't even bother trying....
Also, it's almost comical at this point that the only solution hollywood/liberals have to all these problems is to just subject someone else to the same thing they claim IS the problem (i.e no more damsel in distress, instead man in distress. No more discriminating people based on being black/women, instead discriminate against people based on being white/man. And so on and so on)

I like how they portray their savior girl boss in the same way that Belloc was in the first film. He wasn’t saving history for everyone to enjoy in a museum, he was selling artifacts to the highest bidder.

And yeah, that’s about as far afield from the point of Michale Crichton’s books as possible.
They have a character like that in Spriggan (anime), but it works because her stealing of artifacts for money is shown to be the flaw, of an otherwise quite good-hearted girl. She's one of my favorites from the series, and a proper well-meaning rascal.

The CGI in these clips are shockingly bad. The original trilogy are triumphs of practical effects, this is sacrilege. One being that Indy would hop into a plane and fly off into the sunset and that as the plane was flying into the sunset Indy looks over and sees his father, recreated by way of Deep Fake or something like they did with Peter Cushing in Rogue One. Another ending apparently that was partially shot was where Helena and Indy walk up to a house, knock on the door and an older Short Round answers the door, hands Indy a map and says "Let's go.".
