The show’s major success came from its stellar cast members. Sadly, some of the main My Three Sons cast members have passed away. The My Three Sons cast members brought us some of the most memorable characters ever featured in an American sitcom. These actors also had incredible lives and careers.
Fred MacMurray played Steven Douglas, the titular character of the show. He began his career as a singer and musician before graduating from acting. He became a favorite of top Hollywood directors and eventually became the highest-paid actor in America! By the time he was cast in the show, he was considered a national treasure.
The show also starred William Frawley. Though he was perhaps best known as Fred in I Love Lucy, his role as “Bub” O’Casey is also one of his most popular roles. He appeared in the show for 3 seasons. He sadly left due to poor health and passed away in the mid-1960s.
His character was replaced by Uncle Charley played by William Demarest. The veteran actor was a favorite of director Preston Sturges and had established himself as a formidable character actor. His work on My Three Sons made him a star to TV audiences.
We’ve sadly also lost Don Grady, Meredith MacRae, and Beverly Garland who all had integral roles in the show. They also had successful careers in both film and television and their work as part of the My Three Sons cast remains some of their best work.

Why did you fail to mention Tim Considine? He played as the eldest Douglas son: Mike. You only referred to his character when you mentioned the girl, (I believe her name was Meredith), had decided to leave the show.
I was pretty young when I watched the show, but not to young because like every little girl I had a mad crush on ROBBIE!!

Meredith MacRae, daughter of Gordon MacRae n Sheila MacRae, also acted in one of my childhood favorite TV shows: Petticoat Junction. She was awesome on the show n even sang in some episodes. RIP Meredith MacRae.

Beverly Garland was on the last 3 seasons (not just the last season) of My Three Sons (1969-1972) appearing in 74 episodes. Also a sad note that yesterday Tim Considine who played oldest son Mike has passed away at age 81.

Very, very sad to hear of the passing of Tim Considine on Thursday, March 3, 2022, who played the eldest son, Mike, on the show. I grew up watching this show from its beginning in 1960...I feel like I've lost a real brother, just as I did when Don Grady (2nd oldest son on the show) passed away a several years ago.
Just noticed that Tim Considine also died, yesterday at age 81.
You forgot to mention Beverly Garland's role in the TV series, "Scarecrow and Mrs. King where she played the role of Mrs. West, Mrs. King's mother. It was a great role for her.

Nice piece but why not double check your information? Meredith MaCrae left My Three Sons after two years, not three, because her love interest, Tim Considine, was leaving. Her only connection to the show was her character's relationship with Mike. Her most memorable role was as a regular on Petticoat Junction for several years. And Beverly Garland came on the show three years before it ended, not in the last season.

Stanley and Barry Livingston were actually brothers. They eventually ""adopted" Ernie in the show.
I loved watching these episodes and wouldn't miss them when I was in my elementary school days . Robbie was all the girls favorites Chip and Ernie were great in their respective roles as well. Ernie could really shift from funny to heart felt scenes . I used to wish that 'Dad'would get married so the boys would have a mom . Uncle Charlie was a gruff old codger with a big heart . I still have a spot in my memories for all the times it brought me joy ! Thanks guys ! . . 🥰

I had no idea Don Grady was the brother of Lani O’Grady, who played “ Mary” on 70s TV show, “Eight Is Enough”.
William Demarest also played Ann Margaret's father in "Viva Las Vegas" as well as the Iconic voice of Charlie The Tuna in Starkist commercials in the 70s.
And Meredith Macrae was on the Green Acres spinoff "Petticoat Junction". In real life, she was married to actor Greg Mullavey of "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman".
A smoker and lived to 83. Jesus. Lucky guy to live so long

Great very popular hit show! The late great Fred MacMurray was multi-talented and so handsome when he was young. He also owned a fabulous ranch house which is the MacMurray Winery which one of his adopted daughters runs and lives there now in her late 60s in a cabin he built. Their beautiful home has been lovingly preserved just the way it was when Fred bought it in 1941 and where his kids spent many wonderful days there while growing up. I always had a crush on Tim Considine and learned he just passed away recently. May they all rest in peace.

William would be my top favorite of "My Three Sons" he did an excellent job. I also liked him as Fred on "I Love Lucy" and his role on "Miracle Of 34th Street" which a favorite classic Christmas movie of mine.

We use to watch this show as a family when i was a kid. I still enjoy watching it today,as the writing has jokes for kids and adults
I watched the show, it was OK. To me know it was more interesting to see how the show was made, a very good example. For the most part Fred McMurray shot all his parts at the same time, came in did his thing, left. There were other folks who did the same thing, I think he was first.

I remember my grandfather watching My Three Sons in the 1960’s. Never cared for the show until it Went on MeTV a couple years ago at 6:30 in the morning before going to work and now I am a big fan of the show!

While I wasn't alive during this era, I do miss the re-runs when Nickelodeon was worth watching. There was a lot of love and attention put into the scripts and most TV just isn't worth watching anymore.

Meredith's character married Mike. Tim Considine wanted to do something else and clashed with Executive producer Don Fedderson. That's why Mike and Sally were married in the first color episode on CBS. They moved away and were only mentioned two times after that.

I never knew the warmth of this show as a child. I loved how it would start, with Fred MacMurry to camera say, "Hello, and welcome to our show". Very classy. Thats what shows miss today. They lack character, constructive criticism, supervision of children. An overseer of family and friends. A dad in charge of his family. Words of wisdom un each show. The writers knew something about parenting skills. Nothing like it has ever been seen since.

The show is both dated and "comfort food". The low-key comedy and relaxed chemistry between the actors holds up. No mugging for the camera as you see today.

What happened to Mike, the oldest son.
I was born a dozen years after the final episode was broadcast in 1972. But I have watched reruns for the past year. I First was interested in the show when finding out william frawley was a main cast member of the show. I first seen Mr frawley in the movie one night in the tropics (1940) with bud abbott and lou costello. Rest in peace to all the departed cast and crew of my three sons.
Beverly Garland joined the cast in Season 10, which is when I stopped watching the show because it seemed to be getting away from its basic theme.
Also, the great film noir 'Double Indemnity' is from 1944, not 1941 - maybe a typo there?
I liked all of them, but Tim and Meredith and Tina were my favorites.

You need to learn how to pronounce the names of towns. Kankakee is pronounced Can-ka-key.
And, Claudette Colbert, pronounced kohl-bare.
There was an episode I hated- Where the middle son found out his dad was very competitive about golf- What ? at age 17 he just finds that out ? Ok, so the dad in getting the boy ready to play in this 2 person tournament -orders the younger son out of the backyard while he gets the older boy ready to play with a lesson from dad. What ? the younger son cant watch and maybe learn something about golf too ? And what is it with his sons being so alien to golf like they just found out about golf and that their dad was a golf enthusiast ? Anyway the boy blows the tournament on the final hole with bad shots and throws a fit storming off the course . What - they expected to win with a total beginner at golf ? Give me a break. Total unrealistic script. Not plausible , insufferable and stupid. However, Usually the show was believable and a good watch..

Revelation 1:14-15 Jesus's skin was a darker hue and his hair was woolly in texture. His eyes were like a flame of firer, his feet were like burnished bronze, refined as in a furnace. Looks like your every day so called black man because this is he was and is.
I didn't like it when it was on because I was a small boy and it's intended for adults. It's far from being a children's show.
