The show’s main character is one of the most important reasons it became so popular. Perry Mason was an ethical, trustworthy lawyer who always sought to find the true culprit in every case.
Supporting cast members were also important in telling the story in each episode. They included everyone from friends who brought Perry crucial evidence to his lovable secretary who helped keep it all organized. Most became a consistent presence on the show and added to its impactful storytelling.
The cast was made up of new faces and familiar actors. Many of them joined after successful careers on the stage and screen, and almost all of them went on to enjoy successful careers after Perry Mason ended.
The cast is still remembered today and received plenty of honors throughout their career. They earned Emmy awards, stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and more. These physical representations of their hard work will help cement their legacy forever.
Only a few Perry Mason cast members were ever replaced, and it usually occurred after their death. They were able to bring life to the series and portray their characters until their last days.
Some cast members, including Richard Anderson and Barbara Hale, died of natural causes after a long, fulfilling life. A few, including William Talman and Raymond Burr, suffered from cancer. Other cast members, like Wesley Lau, Ray Collins, and William Hopper, died due to other conditions.
Regardless of how they died or which character their played, each Perry Mason cast member made their character a powerful force that fans will remember forever.

Raymond Burr, made the fictional family/ marriages have tragic endings. That way, people wouldn’t ask too many questions. Although, all of Hollywood, including his good friend Barbara Hale, (He named one of his prize winning Roses after her.), knew he was gay. Raymond was with a man until his death, for thirty-eight years. Which is pretty darn good, (Gay or straight.), for Hollywood.

My favoite was his appearance in Orson Welles' The Magnificient Ambersons (novel by Booth Tarkington who won a Pulitzer Prize for the novel). A classic movie that all should see. It debuted two actors: Anne Baxter and Tim Holt.

The other salespeople didn't recognize her when she came into our department, but I spotted her immediately and went right up to her and asked, "Hello, Mrs. Hale. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help you." She threw me a bright smile, obviously enjoying that I recognized her. I had to "educate" the other salespeople around me when I finished ringing up a purchase for her: "That was Perry Mason's secretary, Della Street!" Classy lady and still very lovely in the 70's!

In my unofficial poll of the greatest TV theme songs of all time. . .I too rate the theme from "Perry Mason" as tops. Mainly because of the way it "rolls" back around from the chorus. Brilliant orchestration. Second place: "Gunsmoke". Third: "Peter Gun". Back in the glory days of the late '50s' through the '60s, TV sitcoms used full orchestras and great composers. Won't see that around ever again. This is MY poll. Feel free to add your picks, sports fans. Lots of great ones from that spectacular era.

I never missed a Perry Mason show when I was a kid in the 1950's. Still watch the reruns today. Loved the interaction between Mason, Tragg and Berger.
When I watch the reruns today I am focused on the inaccuracies of those shows. For example all the witnesses were present in the courtroom at the same time. So they could hear the other witness testimony. Never happens, today at least. And the guilty party always stood up at the end and tearfully admitted their guilt. No case EVER went to a jury that I can recall. Perry always got them at the very end.

    I have watched every episode
many times and have them all on tape. As with so many great shows they followed a strict formula. In the first scene there is a nasty guy who you know will be murdered. Next, the pretty girl involved comes to Perry with a legal problem of some kind. The nasty guy gets killed and Tragg arrests the pretty girl who fortunately is already Perry's client. Perry tells Della to call Paul and have him investigate. Paul's first report starts with "Perry , you are not going to like this. Undaunted, Perry cooks up a strategy to defend the client, often involving a demonstration of some kind. Trial begins. Paul reports back with good news. Perry gets real murderer on the stand and forces him/her to confess.
