    We adopted a bunny from a rabbit rescue shelter 4 years ago. Sicily had been placed in a box in a dumpster. Shelter volunteers rescued her and nursed her back to health. We were her foster family for a year but knew she was with us to stay. Bunnies, like other pets, have personalities. Sicily has the sweetest disposition and communicates with us in her own way. We regularly take her to a vet who knows how to care for rabbits. Domesticated bunnies cannot survive in the wild. Awareness might prevent some bunnies from being abandoned.

    We now own a big beautiful male rabbit that had been running through our yard and in the woods. I was really worried the first time I saw him because there are coyotes and foxes that come around at night and this poor bunny would be an easy target. After a couple days of trying to catch him, we finally succeeded with carrots and romaine. We brought him to a vet immediately and treated a large cyst and infected eyes and ears. Now he is doing great and he's very happy. We built an 8 x 8 large pen and he has lots of fun play structures and toys. We know someone was cruel and released him into the wild, but we are the lucky ones to have found him.

    I missed my bunny of three years, I still cry every night and he passed away october two years ago just a week before my birthday. I am still hurt till now, blaming myself as a bad mother and I don't understand how come people threw away a bunny, or an animal like that. People should know they hardly survive. When I have more money, I will open sanctuary for bunnies since I couldn't find one here. I hope people will stop eating bunnies too. (Not only bunnies indeed, but from stopping eating bunnies, it would be good start for others). Thank you for saving the bunnies :")

    Please be responsible and think through first before adopting bunny. Thru are harder work than a dog or cat. Need special care and diet. They are precious pets and great addition to family. They do need room and should not be put in a cage with chicken wire type floor. Thru thrive best when they can have free run in your home for exercise and healthy well being emotionally, mentally and physically. Thru are cute to play with.

    • @sinsitysinderella790
      @sinsitysinderella790 Před 6 lety +8

      Stephanie In the wild They are not harder work than a properly cared for dog or cat. They don't need to be walked like a dog, and cats are ideally supposed to get 15 minutes of play time with you a day. Bunnies require neither, though some enjoy play time and or cuddles. The most work you will have to do is wash their greens, refill their hay and every few days clean out their litter box (as opposed to at least once a day for a cat). If you have 2 to keep one another company, and they are free roaming like mine, they are relatively low maintenance (make sure you do the initial set up of rabbit proofing cords). That's why I got bunnies, I'm disabled and need a companion animal, my cats are too independent, and I can't walk a dog.

    This is just like when I adopted my rabbit from an adoption center that rescues all kinds of rabbits. Right before I did officially adopt my rabbit, the caretakers shared with me that she was found somewhere alone near the streets and lived in a foster home. At some point they almost put her and some other rabbits to sleep until someone else suggested them to do a public announcement so people can hear about their existence. Soon enough I heard about it and brought her home.❤️

    "Dump site bunnies" gotta be 1 of the saddest things I've heard. Have so many questions! Who thought it a good idea to put unnuetered bunnies in the courtyard of a mental hospital in Las Vegas of all places? Of course other jerks are gonna dump their bunnies there also. They basically got the go ahead from the hospital. And if they thought this was a good idea for the patients, why are they not at the least supplying water + food? God Bless this woman! Going above + beyond 🐇❤

    I made the mistake and wanted a bunny, without knowing anything about them because it was going to be Christmas soon. I got a bunny! I bought all the wrong things for him. But I saw how fast he was growing and wanted to do better. He lived in my room in a cage that you buy at pet stores till he was about 6 months old. I had him outside then in a enclosure that was still to small. He soon turned 1 and I said enough is enough. I bought him a huge Great Dane crate, and bought him all the nessesities. He is now in my room currently, and even though I have a carpet floor and I dont own the house he is almost free roam in my room. I know I messed up at first but he has turn into an affectionate, lovable, spunky little guy. I love you Georgie forever and always❤

    I just adopted my first bunny, he was abandoned and was very thin and malnourished, I'm not sure if he just escaped or deliberately let out , my thoughts are he was dumped, because any caring pet owner is usually very careful. Awww this is so sweet! I have a bunny named Chloe and she is a rescue from a meat farm. Many people don’t understand what they are getting into when they buy rabbits so most of the time they get dumped. Some people think that rabbits are just pets that sit in cages but they are not they need as much attention as a puppy would. 🐇

    Thank you for all the people who help to save bunnies amd many other animals. I became a bunny person 4.5 years ago when I got a rescued bunny from the meat farm. They are the most loving , affectionate, clever and smart, curious, playful. They know every member of the family.If bunny feels loved and protected - you will get a guard dog in a bunny shape, you will get endless kisses and many sleepovers! I can go on and on and on. They make the best pets , easy to train and can be easily litter trained. Once you have a bunny - you will never have another piece of rabbit meat and will never buy anything that made out of rabbit fur . You need to protect the cable wires, and as long as you have plenty of hay , cardboard and toys - your house will be ok;) They are not suitable for little children, and if you keep them in the cage do not expect much . It is like keeping a cat or a dog in the cage. Unfortunately we lost our boy due to a Pseudomonas infection in the ear, we have tried every antibiotic , injections, every medication for 8 months , but the last resort was an ear surgery. The surgery made everything worse and 2 months later 11/05/20 we lost him. This beautiful bunny boy PUFF changed our lives forever, our household will never be the same without him. 🙏🏻👍🏼🐇🕊

    I didn't know they were dumped. My grandma was in the rehabilitation center there and my children loved it! We brought tons of carrots and lettuce and they fed them for hours every time we went. The rehab center told us they belonged to the property and we were welcome to feed them... I am so surprised they are out of grass and water and are being adopted out it was so lush and green grass everywhere when we went.

    When I had rescued my rabbit Belleview who was being abused by her previous owner, at the time, I already had my hands full with two other rabbits with special needs that required around the clock care. I had decided that I would nurse Belleview back to health that took quite a bit of time and patience to get her healthy,which is when I had noticed that she would attack only men (she bit my boyfriend when he tried to pet her right after she attacked my chiropractor when he tried to give her an ear rub).
    This is when I had made the decision to keep Belleview because I knew she wouldn't be adoptable anywhere else..Belleviw ended up being a pretty great rabbit

    Many people buy pet bunnies near Easter by impulse for their children, the moment they realize that rabbits aren't just cute breathing stuffed toys they are either locked in a cage for the rest of their lives or abandoned like that. So while i really appreciate the effort to convince people to adopt these animals i really hope they actually talk about the responsibilities of raising a bunny so the problem doesn't repeat itself.

    Amazing what we learn on you tube. Had no idea of situation. I moved to Florida over 20 yrs ago. There were lots of wild rabbits running around at night. I saw one the other night, first one I'd seen in years. Since gulf oil disaster lots of trees, plant life gone. People in Fl are big on pesticides. Stores are loaded with roundup especially in spring. I don't use the poison. I don't like surroundings to look to manicured. Like outside to look more natural. Like to leave ground cover for wildlife.

    This just breaks my heart. When i lost my baby bunny, i couldnt stop crying. I could only wish I could prolong his life. And yet, there are people who just dump them like they are garbage. :(
