- The plaintiff says she and her cousin, the defendant, were raised together like sisters. The plaintiff claims after she took over the defendant’s lease, the defendant came over and attacked her, so she’s suing. The defendant insists the plaintiff was the one who instigated the physical fight, so she’s countersuing for assault.

You and I know that her "everybody fight" comment don't represent the black community but JM was speaking on racist whites and other groups who don't understand black people. Most of them think that's all we do and if you're a racist cop with a license to kill, that's all you have to say as it was justifiable to shoot a black person....because they all are violent, confrontational, and "like to fight".
I understand the plaintiff stating "everybody fights" wasn't right, but dang judge Mathis dismissing her claim was absolutely terrible...smh

I honestly feel that the judge goes off his emotions that day and never really gives some of his cases a chance whether they’re right or wrong. Just because this defendant rubbed him the wrong way he threw out the case.Does he not know that some people get nervous because of all the lights and cameras that are in their face. He truly irks me sometimes!
I agree I watch this show everyday and I love it but it makes me sad when I see people acting out of nerves or trying to even say things to bring themselves down because they don’t want to put down their family even if there is a law suit involved, I wish he would realize that some of these people dig themselves into hoesvto him because they’re trying to save their families name, if one of us go down we all go down

Fighters don’t cry? I know people who cry first, then it turns into rage. I’m one of those people. I’m not violent, aggressive, or confrontational, but I will cry before & after getting physical BECAUSE I DON’T LIKE TO GET PHYSICAL!!

Judge Mathis is the biggest joke. When the girl said everybody fights I do not believe she meant physically. There’s not one person in the world who hasn’t gotten into a verbal argument or back and forth before. To call her out for crying is crazy. I am someone who is a cryer when I am upset, and that can turn into rage if you don’t know how to control it. The girl walked up on her. She was assaulted. She didn’t hit the woman. To dismiss her case is insane.

The judge was harsh but you can’t come to court and say “everybody fights” and then sue someone for beating you up. That makes no sense. It’s going to sound like you were cool with fighting and you lost the fight and now want to sue.

Usually professional in their line of expertise come off as "know it all's" because they should "know it all" or be very close to knowing it all. When I go to a professional, I expect them to know it all and definitely know more than me.

He was overly harsh with the plantiff and actually misinterpreted what she said. One thing about Mathis is if he decides he doesn't like your character you lost the case. period. Doesn't matter if you are in the right or the wrong.
IMO it wasn't a matter of misinterpretation of what she said, it was a matter of her not thinking before she spoke and unmindful of her environment (a legal setting.
Her comments reflect her personal exposure and life experiences. And the smaller cousin has potential because her candor indicates she has an honest soul. The bigger cousin is comfortable lying through her teeth and is adept at placing the blame on others.

The judge blandly handled this one . As a judge it is important to not let your emotions take over .
The plaintiff came on the show talking about how much of a fighter she was and then turns around and sues because she lost the fight. It was tough to see her crying but she could have walked away after getting punched the first time instead of sizing up the defendant and hitting back. The verdict wasn’t based on emotion it was based on law with an emotional lesson being taught at the same time.
