- The plaintiff says she hired the defendant to take photos at her wedding, but she claims the color was off and her skin looks so patchy it appears as though she had third-degree burns. She’s suing for the money she paid the defendant, as well as emotional distress. The defendant says he could re-edit the photos, but he’s dealing with some computer issues.

As a professional photographer I'd feel completely disappointed in myself and wouldn't be able to live with myself for not coming through for the ppl that entrusted me with such an important task as a wedding . That can't be redone. It takes more than the ability to take a nice picture. It takes ethics to be a pro photographer.

As soon as he said his drive was corrupted I knew this case was over. As a videographer I backup my files to multiple devices for situations like this. I feel bad for the defendant because losing files on a lost hard drive/ computer is heartbreaking and trying to recover it can be very expensive, especially if the recovery is not successful. This was definitely a learning experience for him as a photographer moving forward. I also feel bad for the plaintiffs because it was their wedding photos. I bet that they would rather have their photos over the money.

He backpeddled real quick. He said he was going to take the hard drive to get fixed and he did take the computer to be repaired. Then in his next breath says he already took the hard drive to be fixed and the computer can't be fixed and is not functioning. He's dirty and underhanded, he got mad because she slammed his "skills" and poof, wedding pics go bye bye!
The fact that the defendant has no remorse leads me to believe there is more to the story. I suspect the bride came off as a bit bridezilla to him, so he decided she’s not ever getting her pictures.

She’s saying that she believes he has ulterior motives for what he did and it prob had something to do with her behavior, which a lot of photographers, caterers, decorators, etc have been known to have to deal with. I had the best photographer in the world! I paid him $150 and he took tons of pix and just handed me the film! I got them developed in proof!! It was awesome!
She could take half of the money and do a re-do of the wedding day with a professional photographer to get pictures.
Depending on where she lives, it might be the whole 2800. Wedding photography can be expensive

There’s an old saying that applies perfectly to a situation like this: “You get what you pay for”! Why on earth would you trust such an important day to a cut-rate photographer? I would have thoroughly checked him, his past work & even references or reviews about his work. But I guess since he was just someone who “dabbles” in photography, he probably wouldn’t have had too much of that. That should have been a huge red flag to anyone. I hope he’s able to retrieve something for her and I’ll bet she’s learned her lesson hopefully!

This is why you don't hire people who offer you a service "as a hobby". You get what you pay for, and these are the kind of risks that (thankfully) she was almost stuck with.
Neither microfsoft nor Apple have cloud backups thst would be able to hold hundreds of raw photos.

If he just "deleted" the pics, then they are easily recovered.
He probably either lost the memory card, or its a corrupt card, or accidentally reformatted the card . That's the only way those pics are unrecoverable.

So the moral of the story is to not hire a barber who moonlights as a photographer to take your wedding pictures. Too bad the plaintiff didn’t at least download the pictures when they were available. At least she would have some pictures, even if they aren’t the best.
My classmates day job is a postal worker and he moonlight as a photographer difference here is is professionalism, his portofolio is great!! Hes great at it

In the black community everyone wants to be black but no one wants to be black black 😂 she was probably told by the men she dated that she’s light skin and not dark like them. It’s sad to see, I love reading books written by black women but 99.99% of them will make sure you know the character is brown, medium brown, caramel, peanut, beige, pistachio or anything but dark. I’ve never read a book about a white character where they specified how white the character was. Or worse look for food name just so we know the character isn’t black black. I want to write a dictionary about all the ridiculous name black authors use to describe black because they don’t want the reader to picture the typical dark/ brown woman.

My wedding photographer was amazing. I also placed multiple disposable cameras on every table. Some of those photos were more enchanting than the pro’s.

I know people who went to school for photography and they have a main career but they make sure to keep the photos they take on separate hard drives and save them to multiple sources and they even use a separate computer for their photos and editing.

This was such a familiar story. Had someone do this with my first-born child's newborn photos. Took until she was 4 years old to get 5 of the photos from the person who did it 😞
