    Thanks for the review. Ordered a pair for my KTM 390 Adventure. It's foot pegs are mounted to high for me (and many others) so look forward to a better riding position.

    Those rally raid ones look massive and very utilitarian (I like that sort of look), I think the SW ones look a little more fitting to the look of the bike.
    Commiserations on the loss of the beard.

      Hi Carl, best description of them yet! ‘utilitarian’ would sum up all the RR bits I’ve fitted....and I too like the utilitarian look along with it actually being practical. The SW were good but for the trails I’ve been on the RR is better 👍🏻 Yes, I’m already growing the beard back, although wife thinks it makes me look old(er)! With barbers closed under restrictions I tried trimming it and it went rather wrong 😂

      My other half has frequently told me I’ve ruined my bike with additions such as the translucent large tank. She still wasn’t sold on it when I told her that it was the utilitarian look haha. Oh well.

    Love my sw motech Evos. Fully adjustable. Think you said they had two positions? It was either the advertising or the instructions I received but I'm sure it said Evos had 36 different positions. I lowered and moved my footrests back a bit. Perfect for me. Obviously with 36 different settings, each setting is only adjustable by a tiny amount but I'd say everyone should be able to find their perfect setting with these footrests. Never had a problem with vibration. Glad you're happy with the RR rests though.

    • @thecampingbiker791

      The Evos sound the ultimately for adjustability! SW is great quality kit, had their stuff on various bikes and always good. Funny how on this bike it’s not quite worked that way, but wouldn’t hesitate on any future bike. The RR pegs are working great for me, all the best Andrew

      It's the SW-Motech Ion footpegs that have 2 positions, they're not the same as your Evos.

      I'm considering the EVO on my Tenere 700, but they look a bit short. Do they work well off road?
      I got some NiceCNC ones as well, but they are way to grippy for me and I find it difficult to slide the boot forward to shift up.
      Would be interesting to hear your opinions.

      @@thecampingbiker791 I don’t know how the things will work with the Covid and for how long but I’m tired of being restricted all the time. I have my plans to go in a couple short trips for 3 to 4 days just to see how it’s gonna work and how my body will take this type of trips. The idea here is just to try to get an impression what is going to be when I travel to Alaska and back. Of course a trip that is 3 days cannot compare to a trip that is going to last 40 days.
      I ordered the same bag as you and Riley Reid Skid Plate and Barkbuster hand guards.The problem though is the delivery time is it going to take between 6 to 10 weeks. I’m not in a rush, I guess 😁

      @@dimicha same here, fed up of it now! Doing the short trips is a good idea to get a feel for longer travel and something I did early on with the bike...also, spending a few thousand miles travelling and camping over last summer helped me get body and bike prepared for my planned trip to the US, and allowed for fine tuning of the packing! To be honest I’m fairly comfortable and ready to travel but it’s not going to happen this year, can’t see travel across borders is going to be very easy for a couple of years unfortunately 😞 Sounds good for your bike development and hope all works out for your plans 👍🏻

    • @thecampingbiker791
      @thecampingbiker791  Před 3 lety

      Hi Mal, sorry mate, it can’t be turned as the hinge fixing point goes to tank at rear....also, any substantial alteration may invalidate insurance. It’s not the easiest tank to fill and although here in UK your supposed to get off your bike to fill I find staying on the bike but standing holding bike upright and just watching carefully as it’s nearly filled works okay for me (I’ve no centre stand though) How are things going in Australia with Covid, keep safe, regards Andrew

      The Camping Biker Many thanks Andrew ,I thought that would be the case . I'm pleased to report that the Covid situation here in Australia is going really well ,especially here in Victoria . After a second wave of Covid about six weeks ago the Government acted quickly and closed meeting points etc and since then we have had 28 days with no local confirmed cases . I will be talking with my brother in Rugby later tonight ( late morning for you ) . Hope the snow has cleared so you can get back on the bike .
      Take care Mal in Australia

      @thecampingbiker791  Před 3 lety

      Good to hear about your situation in Victoria, the lockdown here is fairly restrictive, can only use bike/vehicle if going to work, supermarket, and to get somewhere for exercise unfortunately, but as you’ve seen weather has been a bit crappy for biking anyhow! Fortunately I live in a village in the country so going to supermarket on bike still involves a nice ride 😂 One good thing here is that vaccines are being given in large numbers daily and we have plenty of pre paid vaccine to more than cover the whole population...roll on the summer 👍🏻

    Do the Rally Raid footrests raise the level of the footrest at all? Even the slightest? My wife is quite tall and all legs and is already about as bent as she feels comfortable with on the Honda. I’ve seen a couple aftermarket footrests that look impressive but are indeed a bit higher. But I’ve never been able to measure the Rally Raid. Hang in there with the covid lockdown.
    Truthfully, I wish the States would take more drastic action, too. I am self-imposing a quarantine, have been all along. My wife, thankfully, got her vaccination yesterday as she is in the healthcare industry and at a higher risk level. But it won’t change our safety precautions for many months at least.

    • @thecampingbiker791
      @thecampingbiker791  Před 3 lety +1

      No, the RR is slightly lower than the standard Honda pegs, with the SW ION being adjustable between standard Honda height and lower. The Sw on lower position is roughly same height as RR. Hope that helps! UK is rapidly vaccinating so fingers crossed we’ll be in a different situation by Spring, but I expect some form of restrictions going on into next year!! Anyhow, you and your wife keep safe and at least we can dream of biking and traveling 😆
