  • This is the full fitting video of the Rally Raid Soft Luggage Rack to the Honda CB500X and hopefully provides enough detail and close up filming to help those novices, like me, who are thinking about the rack or want to fit it. Like all things in life, take professional advice if unsure and remember this is just my interpretation of how to fit the rack.
    If you would like to support the channel please feel free to donate a small amount, typically the cost of a coffee, it will help to keep me filming and every little helps!

    My goodness you are really getting awful good at this. Nice job as well and they do look really solid. I went for the SW Motec soft bags which are also great and easy to slide on and off by simply undoing a clip on either side. Andymancam did a great review.
    Just back from a trip myself so looking forward to catching up on your other vids.

    Very helpful video thank you Andy. I wonder if you could let me know the sizes of the bolts and spacers etc that are used to fit the rack. I have found a secondhand one but it doesn't come with any of the fasteners. Also what bolts did you use to attach the tool tubes to the rack?

    Having removed the grab rails, is it much harder to manoeuvre the bike with these fitted or can you still get your hand in? Great video as usual, just got a 2023 in black and am working through your vids. 👍

      @thecampingbiker791  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Yes, easy to manhandle using the racks, if anything a little better as you can adjust your grip to various position’s depending on what you’re doing… the new model looks a good evolution of the bike! Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy them 👍🏻

    Great vid as always! Thank you! Do you happen to know how much each rack weighs? I am trying to go light as possible with luggage systems and all the other bits, that I plan on adding! Cheers from Nova Scotia!

      @thecampingbiker791  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi there Nova Scotia 😃 Yes, it’s always been my aim to try and maintain a balance (as best you can) with additions to the bike...each Soft Luggage rack is 2kg, so overall 4kg increase, however you have to take the grab rail off and dispense with it and these are 0.92kg, so the actual increase is just 1.08kg each side with an overall increase of 2.16kg! Ive also taken the rear footrests off and they are 0.53kg (each side) with the addition of a lightweight exhaust hanger (minimal weight) and I guess with the removal of footrests and addition of exhaust hanger the overall (both sides) increase for me is only about 1.2kg.....Bet you wish you hadn’t asked now 😂 Keep safe and happy riding 🇨🇦 🇬🇧

    Hello Camping Biker, just found your video on the install of the Rally Raid side brackets. I have a 2021 CB500X and I've recently fitted a rear adventure rack but I like the look of your side brackets. I live on Vancouver Island but I'm not familiar with Rally Raid products but I'm going to check them out. Do you have the soft bags installed yet? I'd be interested in your expeirence with them if you've installed them. I'm also interested in where you are from, the giveaway is your comments about "ski-wiffed". I grew up in the Stoke-on-Trent area and that was a common saying in those parts.

    • @thecampingbiker791
      @thecampingbiker791  Před 2 lety

      Hi John, actually I’m originally from Cumbria but live in Lancashire 😃 The soft pannier racks are brilliant build quality and solid as anything and allow for strapping soft luggage onto with various tie down slots! I use the 21 Brothers horseshoe shaped bag and it straddles the seat and racks giving perfect positioning. The bag has been used in all conditions and although I do use lightweight waterproof inner bags the main bag has never let any water in ever…and I’ve been out in some awful conditions 😂 The other thing with those racks is that I have attached Tool Tubes either side on the inner side of racks filling a gap which allows me to store some wild camping gear in one and tools in the other. In addition I’ve mounted two small military molle bags on the outer side of rack which carries a small trauma kit in one and small filming gear in other. Can’t just remember weight but the two grab rails that need removing are half the weight of the racks and just don’t notice them. Other advantage is protection in soft drops on trails…great bit of kit 👍🏻 There’s plenty of videos on the channel showing the bike but if you have any other questions or want photos just message 👍🏻

    Hi, amazing video! Very useful!
    Where can I find the torque values? I have the Haynes service manual for my model but can't find these values...

    • @thecampingbiker791
      @thecampingbiker791  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks Ignacio, you will generally find the torque settings at the beginning of each chapter, relating to that section, however I’m not sure there was torque setting for grabrails/rr soft luggage rack fixings..think I just tightened until tight then half a turn 👍🏻
