Knott's Bear-y Tales - Lights On Footage (1983)

- This video showcases the attraction with a flashlight on and was taken by the Wardrobe Dept. of Knott's Berry Farm in 1983. Since capturing blacklight dark rides was difficult back in the day. They used this footage to document the ride and for reference in changing the aesthetics of the characters as well. That and for future use to show people how the ride did look in the dark.
The only negative being you won't be able to see what made the ride quite beloved in the first place. It may not do the ride justice, but it does give you an idea of how vibrant, imaginative, and incredible the set design for the ride was. Let alone the character designs by Rolly Crump.

This ride looked amazing back in 83. This was some good footage of the ride. Although I wasn’t in this world back then, I could guarantee my parents went on this ride. I’m excited for the remake “Knotts Beary Tales Return to the Fair” I know it’s gonna be amazing like this ride was. I appreciate the footage you put here, and I hope to ride the remake coming soon!

The current (2024) version has a sickening scent--not at all like the original. 😢
I first remember this being the back in time dinosaur ride so I guess I wasn't at Knott's for the original ride.
This brings back fun memories when my younger brother and I went this ride a few times when we would go to KBF! I haven't been there since 2000! Moved away but I can now take my little niece's ❤😊

I wish they could of did some additional takes of this footage. Then we could of had every vignette in the ride archived. Even if it doesn't show the ride in its best condition or the way it is meant to be portrayed which is the blacklight and incandescent lit environments.
I loved this ride! It was so cool after a hot day outsidr.

Same track layout as dino kingdom
They both used the same layout and ride system. I really wish the new ride could of found a way to bring that back since the Iron Reef one is flawed, its more manageable in the new Bear-y Tales due to some tweaks. But the system by the older rides was easily the best.
