- Thought we only cover Bear-y Tales eh? Well, it appears that we also cover other Dark Rides too. Here is footage from the Knott's classic designed by Sequoia and Bob Gurr, Kingdom of The Dinosaurs. The attraction replaced Rolly Crump's Bear-y Tales in 1987. Its development was quite interesting that it only took about a good 5 to 6 months to build within the same layout and foot plan of Bear-y Tales. The best part was that it too also had another Disney Imagineer behind the helm that being Bob Gurr. The ride lasted from 1987 to 2004.
This footage was shot by employees and covers the attraction during a time when no guests were in the park. Pretty cool huh?

Anyway, did you know that Halloween Haunt did have Kingdom of the Dinosaurs as a haunted attraction in 1987? It is listed as such on Wikipedia's article of Knott's Scary Farm. Just thought you might be interested. ^_^
I miss this ride so much. Growing up in Orange County, middle class my family couldn’t afford Disneyland & we loved Knotts this was one of my absolute favorite rides

this brought tears to my eyes... idk man as a really young kid i really got lost in this ride. i would ride it over and over and over again. i went back to knotts for the first time in probably a decade and the ride was gone. i was devastated inside. on a whim i just now decided too look up and see if anyone had a ride along video and i thank you for that. something about this ride man, the time machine, the soundtrack, the visual effects, the SMELLL, the sounds, idk man i just got lost as a kid and watching this video instantly brought so much of that back. probably sounds wierd but idk, i think certain things are ingrained into our minds as young children and this ride certainly was. it was like a dream, and watching it again really brought that dream back. thank you so much
It's not there anymore? What a freakin' drag!!! This was my favorite as a child as well!!! I'm in my thirties now and I guess still so naive in thinking that this ride would be around for decades to come. Would've loved the opportunity to buy a prop from it. I too, am very glad someone made a video.
Me this was one of my favorite rides at knots berry farm I must have gone on it at least three or four times but that was back in my early teens and I wish we could bring it back.

As a kid, I used to be so excited to go on this ride...with the effects and everything else....especially since it connected to the arcade that was underneath. As a teenager, riding with a girl, I was excited too but for different reasons. Haha Good times. 👑
yay!! I found this. I told my family about this ride. But no one remembered it. I have distinct memories of going on this ride, I was always scared of the ride but I remember the coolness of the ride and being scared of the Dinosaurs. LOVE THE NOSTALGIA. Couldn't see very well but it's just like when we recorded it too. ✌🏼😁🦖🦕

It felt so real as a kid!
The beginning of this ride used to terrify me haha. I would hate the whistling winds and the sounds the animals would make. Still I loved this ride as a kid and I remember I was super sad when they got rid of it
This Dinosaur ride was seen on that 1988 Dinosaur Movie show called Son of Dinosaurs with Gary Owens & Eric Boardman.
Miss this ride it was always the last ride when you are tired af.
My Dad and I used to love this ride when I was a kid. We would go on it all the time and play with the bumper carts underneath

I used to work at Knott's when Boomerang was about to open. Every morning when they tested the rides they'd let us ride on them.

I wish Knott's can find a way to bring this ride back. I feel that us fans of both Bear-y Tales and Kingdom of The Dinosaurs deserve to have them properly both back in the park. I would love to have the choice of riding either Bear-y Tales or Kingdom in the same park. And with both rides having their own locations! That would be dope and everyone on both camps would be happy...

Lol i remember when this opened and replaced Beary Tales. This dino ride didnt last long haha. Whatever ride was in this building I always loved how it let you out into the arcade below.
I think the reason why these rides don't last long is the location they are in. Like look at the small lines when you see the original Bear-y Tales, This Ride, Iron Reef, and the current Bear-y Tales. The rides being located on the second floor has always been a flaw since Day 1 in 1975.

In the early 90s, I remember the ridge racer arcade game right out side the ride exit before the Sony PlayStation came out.
This was cool, wish it showed the ending though....

That is part of our Blue Sky plan actually. We did it for Bear-y Tales and the goal would be to do it for Kingdom of The Dinosaurs next. We just gotta find the leads for it...

Last time I was at Knotts was 2008… and the last time I went before that was 2001 or 2002… so even then the changes were big. As for this ride, it’s a staple for millennials who grew up going here. I loved this ride but once Jurassic Park came along it kinda boosted the expectations for dinosaurs… and then the Dino craze died off. I’d like to go back some day.

I bet Disney's imagineers were inspired by this ride when they created "DINOSAUR" at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
As a Kid...when this opened and replaced Beary Tales ... I HATED IT...over the years , I still completely HATE it...everything about , has no redeeming qualities at all
