The Nintendo Switch is literally releasing in a few hours and there has been a TON of HYPE leading up to this, Nintendo's newest console, but when you stop to look at it, the Switch is a pretty bizarre system. The Switch promises the most advanced Rumble features ever, but lags behind the PlayStation and Xbox when it comes to graphics quality. Nintendo keeps pushing it as a portable gaming device, and yet we all have mobile gaming devices in our pockets in the form of smart phones. So what gives? What's the big plan here for this hybrid console? I think there's A LOT more to the Switch than we initially realized, and in this episode, I’ll reveal Nintendo’s Secret Plan to make the Switch a success!

I actually have a rebuttal... the cameras are in the wrong place - theyre on the CONTROLLERS, not the HMD - We need to see what we see, not what eyeballs on our hands would see
the only way to fix this would be a peripheral mounted to the HMD with cameras - which is probably possible

The manual for Super Mario Land 2 said Wario was 10+ feet tall.
Actually, that was a miscalculation on MatPat's part. Basically, he calculated Peach as 5'10" compared to Samus's 6'3" in Smash Bros: Brawl, then applied that height to Peach in SMB1, and calculated Mario's full height as 9', and then used official Mario scales to determine that Wario is 10'

My first thought about the AR "no camera problem" was that the head piece had about 2-6 separate cameras that can film the real world on it. Since the screen is the same as usual, with no camera, it's just logical to assume that the new screen mount head piece would be equipped with cameras that can simulate the viewing perspective of the user.
But hey! That's just a theory... MY theory! xP

They’re definitely testing the waters with things like Labo VR and Mario Kart Live Home Circuit. I wouldn’t be surprised if this all comes to light with the Switch’s true successor a few years down the line.

Its funny how despite ALL THIS the vast majority of Switch games don't use ANY of those functions built into the Joy Cons. :/

Actually now that I think of it, despite the switch having a 720p screen, that patent at 5:46 could make sense. Think about what the switch already does. The game is on the Switch screen until you put it in the dock which then shows game in 1080p on your TV. What if the headset doesn't have just the dock, but two 1080p screens inside the headset that the switch goes from 720p to? It probably can work that way, though I see battery life being a major limitation with powering a Switch VR headset.

it is not possible. the switch is not powerful enough for any vr watsoever... 1080p x 2 is blurry in vr... i should know i got one. vr will not come to this platform in any shape.
The actual VR systems cost around 800$-900$, so if you just need to buy a 200$ equipment and use it in your Switch(that cost 300$) that would be a GIGANTIC step forward and cheaper way to play VR

Art style is what the difference is between the games shown at the 2:30 mark of the video, not graphics. Ask yourself, would it feel right if Mario and Link both started to look hyper realistic with pbr textures in their worlds when Nintendos current art style for their games tells you that your playing a Nintendo game. If Nintendos games started looking like every other hyper realistic game would people really enjoy playing games like Mario Kart and the Legend of Zelda? Yes, some people would still play them but there will be no difference between Nintendo games and other games. I can go on forever as to what will happen if that occurs but the point remains. Art style is the difference, not console computing power. Please do the gaming industry a big help and don't use bad examples to back up a massive misconception.

Phaze u do not need a camera for vr but maybe the switch has a built in gyroscope, which IS what u need for vr
And yeah, you're absolutely right about that except for two things:
one, the JoyCons are easy to switch out, so if an AR game suddenly needed it, you can release a controller with built in camera. Easy fix, just release a riff roller, pack it in with the game itself. But here's the other thing, the switch already has a pretty sophisticated camera hidden in it.

I don't think the Switch will function as a VR Headset. 720p with 60Hz is just not enough for a decent VR experience. It's not about "muh graphics" but rather not getting nauseous in a blurry and choppy VR world.

Well it's 2024 and we are on the cusp of a brand new Nintendo Console, yet they never did proper VR with the Switch.

Actually that's not how the trending works CandyMan... And companies don't "buy" positions on the trending, they "buy" the watchtime, aka they pay people to watch the video to get it watch minutes. Secondly it would cost a lot to do so, compare the other people on the trending tab, many of them are big media outlets that have plenty of cash, but you seem to overestimate how much YouTubing makes, sure it's a good amount if you're this size, but then factor in the rate as which they upload videos, not enough to make tons of money, enough to live sure, but not enough that he would just pay the several thousands of dollars that big companies spend without blinking. The real reason this is trending is because his videos are already popular on their own, and he's talking about a product that just released very recently, as such it's a relevant topic that a lot of people are looking up information on. I mean seriously the amount of people who seem to not understand a single thing about how CZcams works, yet spread incorrect theories around get old fast, but hey, that's just a theory, a relevant topics theory! Thanks for giving a crud :)
