  • Its almost time for the track rental. Everyone at ‪@TheGarageShop200‬ has jumped in to make this thing happen in time. Originally starting with an ultra sketchy build that has a blown engine...knocking super badly.
we yanked that out in part 1 and started to drop in the replacement engine...HOWEVER that was not as simple as we initially thought. It is going to come down to the wire! Darrell Waltrip even showed up unexpectedly to set the scenario and share a couple stories!

Straight lines 1/4 miles at a time is racing with a purpose too… Some of my good friends from high school have run dirt track late models since Then. If you went to any races at Lernerville or PMS when you were a kid, and seen Their Dobnak #42 doing anything they could to make the main, that was them. I’ve been to a number of races of the years. As a spectator I can’t get into circle and oval tracks. I can go to a random test night at keystone, and have a better time watching than any big oval race, even when I have a personal investment wanting my friends to win on dirt ovals. Only NASCAR I’ll stop and even watch the highlights (besides crashes) of is road courses.

In either 79 or early 1980 Richard and Kyle Petty were at Howard's Department store in Slidell Louisiana just North of New Orleans. I was 4 or 5 and my mom took me & my older brothers to get autographs. Richard picked me up & put me on his lap then passed me off to Kyle,I remember Kyle telling me he had a little boy at home about my age (Adam) we talked with them for probably 20mins or more. Felt like we were visiting with family they were so down to earth. I'd love to see them again with my little boy now. Awesome car guys!

I mean this as the highest compliment I can give...I've binged about 8 hours of your videos this past weekend and it must have been a dozen times that I paused and thought "Damn, my Dad would just LOVE this guy and what he's doing." He was a straight track local racer, muscle car restorer, tinkerer (put a GMC engine in a 33 ford, chopped 9" off the top and tubbed out the back wheel wells and put fatty tires on the back) who crammed a lot of life and a LOT of racing into 49 short years. I'm sure it's a helluva undertaking to film as much as you do and to later edit into vids, all I can say is your hard work pays off! As usual I watched the whole video. My first NASCAR race was the 1964 Daytona 500 and Richard Petty won the race. My father was into drag racing then onto asphalt stock car racing around central Florida. As a kid my earliest memories were in the pits and watching my dad and his crew working on the car. Growing up in this period of time, I actually thought fist fighting was a part of racing. I can remember on the way to the track getting excited and thinking about how big a fight would take place in the pits at the end of the race. LOL

Dude this content is sick! You have quickly become my favorite automotive channel right there with Vice Grip Garage. I have a lot of older videos I still need to watch of yours and I still need to order me a shirt. I no longer have my Yukon XL. I loved it but it was killing me on gas.

I watch/listen to every video until the X appears in the upper right corner which means the content has been fully enjoyed. Guys, DW showed up. Pretty epic. Ya'll worked on that blasphemy Dodge really hard. Why is it blasphemy because it has SBC when it should be Dodge. J/K. I can remember working on race cars in the enclosed trailer rolling down the highway from Indy to Florida just to make the show. Hotel parking lots became work areas as well. Lol 😂

3rd time/engine is the charm. Good to see the Petty car move under its own power. Looking forward to the next video. I'm really missing the people's track content but excited to see what's in store in NC.

Awesome stuff!! I'm watching this from New Zealand, and I'm hooked. I'm a big NASCAR fan from way-back, and it is so good to hear these historical NASCAR stories. Thanks so much.
