yeah I am getting full 12V off the switch box when key is on. I thought it was the switch box at first run through so I purchased a new one. however after everything I narrowed it down to the coil.

great videos...i have a problem with my outboard though. i cant seem to figure out how the tilt works. if you can shed some light on this it would be great. i have the same exact motor as you. I just bought it and installed on the boat and seller didnt demonstrate how to tilt it. it does not have a power trim just regular manual one. thanks and ill be looking forward to your response..

I have an issue with my distributor. Not sure if I need to replace the whole part or if I can get a part for it. I have never seen one like that no points or condenser that I could see. Any Info you might have?

So I didn't get a spark off the wire at all. so does that mean for sure the coil is bad?

So the dis should be fine. but is there an easy way to test the coil. the mechanic said to by pass the dis and hook a sparkplug up to the coil wouldn't necessarily give a spark because the dis tells it when to release the spark. I still tried that method and got nothing still. any solutions?

I'm also unsure of how the tilt trim on these work, if you ever have the time and energy to explain what you think happens please do.

I am not getting spark on the test. I just don't understand how the dis knows when to ground the points if its by passed?

Well I know that it is not getting a spark I tested it against the frame and no ark what so ever. I have followed the power all the way to the dis and from there to the spark I am not getting anything. I believe it is a 78.
