- It was a Saturday afternoon and I just wanted to get out of the house. I swear there is nothing more enjoyable and relaxing than plant shopping, and not just any plants, cactus and succulents! I'm not willing to stray far from the house these days because of my little furry sweetheart. Luckily I always have my trusty Arizona Cactus Sales nursery down the street, where I'm greeted by name and always feel super welcome.
I know we've already visited Arizona Cactus Sales several times on this channel, but the fun thing about plant nurseries is that the inventory is always changing, so it's always fun to go back and see what new things they have in stock. They have also started carrying handmade pottery by BoHo Ceramic Studio, who is a local pottery artist in the Phoenix area. By the time I made this video, someone had already come in and swooped up a dozen pots!
I'll also show you a little baby Welwitschia mirabilis that they planted in the ground. We'll see if it'll turn into the giant monster we saw at the old location.

Yesss! Plants for the Southwest is next on my list of Tucson nurseries to visit and film. I can also take my sweet time since the size is manageable. Once I feel more comfortable venturing a bit further from home, that will be my next destination.

@@cookiescacti It's a great idea. I live in Columbus, Ohio which is a fairly large city and in all of Central Ohio we have like 3 cactus and succulent shops. I belong to our very small central Ohio cactus and succulent society and we have sales every April. We also collect and grow from seed. The Big, trendy thing here in Ohio right now are houseplants. Succulents are gaining more interest every year though. Thanks for what you do! I love AZ. My daughter and husband live in Phoenix so I visit often. 💕

A couple of those Astrophytum definitely would have come home with me, dang! I can't even go to Lowe's without bringing a succulent/cactus or two home, so I can't even imagine having a cactus nursery like this close to me 😅. Also, don't be afraid to get that second opinion for Cookie, all vets see things differently and sometimes one can find what another doesn't even just based off of a previous case they may have had. I am going forward with that second opinion. It's been so tough getting an appointment as a new client with vets in the area. Just 3 more weeks until our appointment with the new mobile vet ... I just need Cookie to stay relatively stable until we get another pair of eyes to look at her health history and current condition... Wish us luck!
@cookiescacti it's really hard for a lot of people to get appointments as new clients with vets these days. I thought I was going to have a hard time when I went on the hunt for a new vet at the end of last year but I got lucky and only had to wait a week to get in. I really hope you can keep Cookie stable for a few more weeks and hopefully a fresh set of eyes will see something the others aren't. Me, Colby and Olive are wishing you all the luck!
Our appointment with the mobile vet is coming up this Monday. It felt like an eternity! Cookie is still slowly declining, I simultaneously can't wait to work with the new doctor and see what new perspective she can bring, but I'm also very scared about what she will find. But knowing is better than not knowing so we can figure out the best way forward.
@cookiescacti having to wait any amount of time seems like an eternity when you're trying to get them help. Anytime in situations like this it's terrifying knowing you might get answers you don't want to hear but if you don't hear them you can't help. It's so rough though. I don't remember if I've asked or if you mentioned before but how old is Cookie? Have you found out anything new since the visit?
This was such a relaxing video and the music was also very relaxing. I needed this today. I'm a new subscriber so I'm not sure if your cat is better or not but I'll try to watch other videos to catch up.

When i lived in Arizona my cats really seemed to get sick from the tap water had to make sure they either got purified or distilled,

That is a very interesting comment regarding the tap water here, Tom. I actually switched to 5 gal bottled purified & RO water for drinking over 2 years ago. You know why? Because I watered my Adenium with filtered tap water from inside the house and the leaves immediately started wilting. I don't know if it was just the Adenium being a diva but it made me suspect the water, so I switched all drinking water to the purified, RO water for the humans and little Cookie. Thank you so much for noting that and for the well wishes for Cookie.

I’ve always wondered if cacti is cheaper in Arizona (Im in San Diego, CA) but it looks like prices are about the same. That nursery has amazing selection though. Looks like a fun place to visit. Hope your kitty is feeling better. Really liked the music choice too, I’m going to have to borrow it. Thanks for taking your time off of work to film.
Hello and welcome! What are your go-to spots to buy plants in San Diego? I lived in San Diego before I moved to Arizona but that was before I got into plants so I never got to explore. Southern California seems to have a much more active C&S community which I am very jealous of 😁

@@cookiescacti I leave in east county so close by there is Hunters in Spring Valley and Planters Paradise in El Cajon. For a huge selections I usually drive to the Vista area. There are tons of options there like Waterwise Botanicals and Oasis as well as other more mom&pop type places. Unfortunately(or fortunately for my wallet) it’s a good 50 mile drive.
A little bit of distance between us and nurseries is probably a good thing 😉 Thank you for the information! I'll definitely check out those spots if I have a chance to visit

They do have an online shop: www.arizonacactussales.com/ The prices are higher online because it covers shipping and handling and the inventory is a little different between online and retail too. I hope you come visit Arizona some time, Ana! You'll have so much fun visiting the nurseries, especially if you make it to Tucson. There are so many cactus nurseries down there, both public and even private ones available by appointment. Lots of well-known and prolific growers. You'd have a blast!
Oh I just saw on their website that they are revamping their online shop and re-opening it in April. I can't wait to see how they update the online side of things. I hope you find some cool stuff!

The struggle is real... ha! And the fact that AZ Cactus Sales is just a few miles from my house. I stop myself from going there to "window shop" because I know it's impossible, otherwise, I would be there all the time!
@@cookiescacti a few miles from your house would make it a real problem lol. With some of the better nurseries being an hour or two away is what keeps me in check.
