- -RF Microneedling Acne Scars or radiofrequency microneedling is the newest generation of microneedling devices. This treatment differs from other microneedling devices due to insulation of needles & impedance/resistance control. The latter delivers safer and more efficient energy to within 0.1mm. I have replaced older RF devices including Infini, ePrime/Profound RFM & Intensif RF with Genius RF.
.
RFM or radiofrequency microneedling can be an effective treatment for-
- Acne scars
- Wrinkles & skin laxity
- Stretch marks
- Poor skin tone
- General skin rejuvenation
.
Microneedling and laser resurfacing are two popular treatment options for acne scars. It involves using a device with fine needles to create tiny punctures in the skin, which triggers the body's natural healing process and collagen production. This can help improve the appearance of acne scars by smoothing out the skin's texture.
.
Laser resurfacing uses a laser to remove the outer layers of damaged skin and stimulate collagen production, which can also help improve the appearance of acne scars.
.
Both treatments can be effective, but the best option will depend on the type and severity of the scars, as well as the patient's skin type and goals. It's important to consult with a dermatologist to determine the best treatment plan for you.

Thank you-for such a clear simplified explanation.
Thanks Dr Davin,so informative 😊
Thanks I have confidence in your input!
I’m getting some eCO2 laser treatments done very soon where my derm is going to do some focal treatment on specific scars as well as passes over the whole face for texture. Hope it goes well. It’s good to know that RFM is an option too.
Always appreciate your clip
Hi Davin, I hope you’re doing great! I was wondering the non insulated needles don’t they target the epidermis too?
Wonderful Video! Thanks for the information I was thinking because RF was heat based it would cause hyperpigmentation on indian brown skin like mine.
Hi Dr Lim, thanks for the informative video. May I know it Venus viva is rfm or just rf? Thank you.
If you use retinol between microneedling treatments, will that interfere with collagen production and hinder your results?
Hi Dr Davin. Thanks for the thorough explanation on the 2 different procedures. I have always been keen to try RF microneedling to deal with my pores, minor acne scars, fine lines and hyperpigmentation but for some reason, my doctor advised that Pico Laser would be a better solution for my skin problems. Any idea why one would recommend pico laser over rf microneedling? I'm Asian (Chinese descent) FYI. Would appreciate your opinion on this. Thanks!
Hello! I want to treat some rolling and boxscar acne scars but also have melasma. Microneedling is best, right (to avoid the heat)? Thanks and great video as always
Same with my son. He applies the Banish Pumpkin Mask 2x a week on his nose then Banish Vit C Creme every other day
What is better for a hypopigmented chemical burn scar on the face. Recell or Rigenera? Please do a video comparing these two thanks
Please make a video on pigment treatments with lasersss thank you~~~
How well does RF microneedling compare to fraxel?
so you say specifically for acne scarring ,but is it suitable for aging skin with rough surfacing (but not scarring)?
what are your thoughts about Hifu 12 for the face and body?
What are your thoughts on Tixel laser?
Hello. What is your opinion about microplasma , like acentpro
Hey I have ice pick scarring. I have tried Tca cross and I got about 20% improvement. Would you recommend rf microneedling?
Wish you were in Chicago 😭
@drdavinlim I am worry about loss fat on my face if I get this treatment. Some people says had loss fat with Morpheus8. What is the reason of this result?
What do you say about Kl blue derma laser? My doctor recommended for solar spot or lentigo
Is microneedeling good for skin tightening?
Yes! My hubby has boxcar scars and the Banisher 2.0 faded them
Hi doc, what about pico scar which comes with the discovery pico/pico plus?
For everyone who’s concerned about fat being dissolved (subcutaneous face fat), it’s essential to consider the depth being used during RF Micro-needling. If your provider/esthetician isn’t skilled in using the device (knowing the appropriate depth for specific parts of the face), that’s when issues with face fat melting can arise. Before undergoing this procedure, thoroughly question your provider/esthetician and hold them accountable. Don’t simply choose where to get the procedure done based on the lowest price; prioritize finding the most experienced provider. Best of luck!
I did both laser and micro-needling and still have scars 😩
What is the best treatment for broad boxcar or rolling acne scars more than 1.5 mm deep?
My hubby has boxcar scars.. the Banisher 2.0 helped in fading them
is eco2 good for asian skin? or should i go for subcision +rf have deep and superficial scars from conclobata.
I have a chickenpox scar in the middle of my forehead I hate it I’ve done rf microneedling a couple of times, and I’ve haven’t seen any results so far. Maybe I need to do subcision or fillers ?
yes that will be better to get filler if you have only one scar
Does RF microneedling cause fatloss in face?
Use a provider who knows what he or she is doing. The parameters has to be safe. It is not the machine--it is the provider behind it.
radiofrequency microneedling causes fatloss. non-ablative lasers don't destroy the top skin layer and are also successful in scar treatment.
It dissolves fat
Yeah, but it’s a very rare occurrence. Fat loss happens due to overheating of the tissues during the treatment
Hispanics are not genetically linked. Please keep the following in mind: Race and Hispanic origin are distinct and separate concepts. The labels "Hispanic" and "Latino" are not related to biology or skin color. Individuals of Hispanic and Latino origin do not fit into specific biological, anthropological, or genetic categories and can belong to any race, including white, black, or Asian. Any study that associates biological, anthropological, or genetic criteria with individuals of Hispanic origin is a systematic distortion of statistical outcomes, resulting from an unaccounted factor in its derivation. Perhaps, if the media were to give proper recognition to the above point, it could prevent misguided individuals with racist tendencies from hastily jumping to conclusions about the implications of being Hispanic.
Thank you for saying this because it is exhausting to keep educating folks. You can be Hispanic and white, black, Asian, indigenous, etc. Most of the time folks are only thinking of those of a mixed heritage or a certain phenotype. It is not.
@@Moi_81 He also called black people African Americans, despite being an Australian.
Dont make this complicated. We are talking about rf microneedling
Jesus calm down. Everyone know what he means. He essentially means indigenous people of Latin America (as opposed to Caucasian and black Latin Americans - plenty of straight up white caucasians who trace genes back to Europe almost exclusively even though their ancestors have been there for 300 years lol) or people who have some mix of those races in Latin America. He means brown people ffs. He said African American but he means black. Not all Africans are black (North Africa is Arab and Mediterranean) and groups all over Africa have different genes. Should he name all of those too? You think Latin Americans are the only ones who don’t share the same genes so we need to specify every single one?
Not everything has to be a learning moment. We get it, Hispanic isn’t a race. Plenty of white nationalist racist Latinos for sure. Good point.
@@samtron5000 “not everything has to be a learning moment…” this one does though, because this is just ignoring the scientific consensus that race isn’t a biological concept. I’m a longtime follower so not new here. He could’ve just said “darker skin types” rather than bring race or ethnicity into this discussion.
