    Much more skin care tips & hacks with daily updates
    Microneedling is a great way to treat skin conditions such as acne scars, open pores, fine lines & textural concerns.
    .
    Quick Guide: Recommended depth for at home microneedling 0.1 to 0.3 mm. Traction on the skin can help with needle penetration.
    .
    .
    Dermapen or Skin Pens deliver needles vertically. This decreases the theoretical issue of tissue treating, however raised the issue of tissue dragging, especially if needles are too long, motor is weak, batteries (if applicable) are low on voltage, technique is poor or skin friction is high.
    .
    .
    Skin Needling via a roller is the most cost effective method of microneedling. Use of needle lengths around 0.25 mm is best. Done properly, it will cause dermal bleeding.
    .
    .
    Derma Stamps: Probably the safest of the lot for at home use. Vertical delivery without drag or potential to tear. Disadvantages include time as well as awkward areas (stamping area is large).
    .
    .
    Specialists employ RFM or radiofrequency microneedling. RF stimulates more collagen as it activates HSP 70-90 (Heat shock protein). I prefer insulated needles over non-insulated devices. Infini & Genius RF by Lutronic are, in my opinion, great devices. They deliver great energy through insulated needles. Impedance control of the Genius adds another layer of safety as well as efficiency. Other RFM devices worth noting include Intensif (getting pretty old), Morpheus 8 (Inmode device, heard a lot of good things about this), Vivace, & Intracel.
    .

    Wow. Extremely impressed with Dr. Lim's honesty. I really appreciate it! I was amazed when he said sometimes there is no difference between the at-home devices vs. in office! I wanted to say that I have had really good results with the Dr. Pen which I have used as safely as possible, at home. I have done 8 treatments. I am not trying to self-promote, though I am, but I am going to post a video tomorrow morning with my results. I've been documenting this self experiment extensively over the past 16 mos. I was really surprised by the results. I'm amazed with what certain skincare procedures and methods can do for aging, lines, etc. The thing that surprised me most about my results was that it got rid of a lot of sunspots, which are normally so difficult to get rid of. Anyway, I am going to finish watching his video now. Just wanted to share this! Thank you, Dr. Lim for your honesty!

Microneedling, in my experience, combined with quality skincare products have been the only effective treatment for my scars and acne. Been doing it for years and I don't suffer from acne anymore and deep scars including some wrinkles have actually become shallow significantly.

    I love my Dr. Pen. I completely filled in a hyperpigmented acne scar. I still have some pigmentation left in spite of the glycolic and ascorbic acids I use on my skin care regime.
    My needle length ranges from. 75 to 1.5mm depending on where I'm treating.
    I don't use numbing cream, but I do treat my face and needles with rubbing alcohol. I only use hyaluronic acid during needling because I'm afraid of getting granulas.
    I've noticed that after a session and for hours afterward my mood is elevated and I feel kind off charged up. Is their something about the mild pain of microneedling that can account for that, maybe the release of endogenous opiods?
    Some people engage in superficial cutting to alter their moods. I suspect the same thing is happening with my Dr. Pen. Think of all the superficial cutters out there who could have beautiful skin instead of wrist scars!

    I've heard that only 0.25mm microneedles should be used at home, but isn't it just the rollers that are dangerous? The stamp-type seems like it wouldn't tear the skin, so why shouldn't I use anything over 1mm? Besides the risk of infection, what other side effects could there be?

    Hi, can you debunk something? I heard this thing that menstrual blood is supposed to be a good for acne prevention, kinda like the vampire facial and some people use it as a face mask. Is this okay for the skin? Is this real? Help I’m debating it.

    • @adylaar6708
      @adylaar6708 Před 3 lety +1

      Some people said the protein plasma in blood will help the acne. But if you think clearly, plasma and blood used in medical ( for various treatment) are drawn out and kept in sterile environment . Ie directly from the blood stream and into medical bag (tube etc), never exposed to the environment.
      Using menstrual blood, is old blood that have died, mixed with uterine lining, passed through various places/ hollow places which would have its own microflora ( i mean we all have some good bacteria on our skin, that can overgrow and cause infection. ive had a keloid scar njection and got infection. The dermatologist said its a common risk and gave me antibiotics)
      Also as a it expelled from our body and exposed to the environment, bacteria are easily attracted to those.
      So nevertheless, menstrual blood is a body waste and gross thing. Pls treat it like booger and never lick/eat those like any 3 y/o might do.

    I've always been curious because many people speak of conservative depth (below 1.00mm) and how it's safer, but I have always been told for scarring, you need to be at above 1.00mm. What is the deal on that?

    • @stevie8849
      @stevie8849 Před 3 lety

      basically, to treat most atrophic (indented) scars, you need to reach the dermis which is the deepest layer of the skin. the thing is, unless you’re a dermatologist or have been trained properly, you could easily give yourself an infection and instead of fix create more scars, etc. so yeah, it’s not impossible but it’s really, really easy, and hence very likely, that using >0.25mm at home will make things worse for oneself
