    Man, thank you so much for this vid! Spun a rod bearing about two weeks ago and while mine is a 2017 turbo, they obviously were very similar! Vid was a great help to me! Will be watching the rebuild when I get my parts. Thanks again!!!

      Ceasar D. Thanks dude haha. Probably could have used a hand... I could have dropped it... don’t drop it! because breaking the casing would be a disaster since it’s aluminum

    Awesome video! I don’t have patience to film while I’m tearing stuff down or putting it back together but much appreciated. What was the magnet you showed in the first few seconds? how did you know you were getting shavings and the oil? Round rollers I see on the secondary?

    • @joncastillo2714
      @joncastillo2714  Před 3 lety

      I put a magnet in the oil pan when I drained the oil to see what I had going on. I suspected spun rod but this just verified I need to tear down and rebuild

    Thanks for posting this. Would you still remove engine if you just needed new top end, cylinder, piston, rings?

    after the build have you noticed much of an increase with power with the mods you put on ?

    • @joncastillo2714
      @joncastillo2714  Před 3 lety +1

      MotoTek58 yeah, definitely a difference in throttle response and sounded a bit louder to me. Uses fuel faster too

    So what causes that? How many miles did you have on the machine.

      I spun a piston rod bearing. Low oil. My rzr was using up oil for some reason. I’d always had to add oil. Like every ride. But motor didn’t smoke. Just caught up to me one day too far out from camp. It was knocking so I towed er back. 4400 miles on it

    Did you already drain the oil in this ?

    • @joncastillo2714
      @joncastillo2714  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, found metal shavings in the oil then drained it

    Is the clutch reverse threaded?

    • @joncastillo2714
      @joncastillo2714  Před 3 lety

      No, first remove clutch bolt then use clutch puller to remove primary clutch

    What kind of luck have you had with that kit?

    • @joncastillo2714

      I did the alba racing 1065 big bore kit with a fuel controller. Been running well. Alba supplied the mapping on the fuel controller. I ended up getting the right color bearings instead of just going with green, which is what they sent out with the new rods.

      @stevebutler6581 Před 4 lety

      Jon Castillo so I just pulled my motor this morning. Have something internal that went bad not sure yet. How was the build? When you say green bearings what does that mean?

    • @joncastillo2714
      @joncastillo2714  Před 4 lety +3

      Hot rods sent me bearings with the crankshaft (green size). But when I compared my new crankshaft codes to the casing codes and the numbers stamped on the rods, the chart said I needed blue bearings. I called hot rods but they told me they send everyone green, they don’t have blue. I wanted to be in spec so I ordered blue OEM bearings from polaris before I put it back together. If you split the casings, my recommendation is make sure you use the right size new bearings.

      Jon Castillo one last question. I see at the end of the video you have a sheet pulled up on a tablet. Where did you get that info from. Sorry to be a pest.

    way to much stuff taken off to remove that engine. you can easily pull it with just removing the belt box and RR shock/spring... pull it from the passenger side..

    • @joncastillo2714
      @joncastillo2714  Před 2 lety +1

      How do you remove the intake? Fuel line? If you have a video I’d love to see it

    • @fireworks1727
      @fireworks1727 Před 2 lety

      @@joncastillo2714 the fuel line just unclips from the throttle body. You have to remove the clip with a flat head screw driver. Pull the throttle body off of the I take boots then you can remove the big plastic air intake.
