  • My rebuild of RZR 1000, in this video I rebuild bottom end of my Polaris. Installing new bearings, crank shaft, rods and pistons. Also put the casings back together, install cylinder and oil pump. My rzr is running strong, just lagging behind in getting the videos all posted up. Stay tuned for the rest of the build. I’m Installing alba racing 1065 big bore kit but process is the same for standard rebuilds.

Does anyone know what the weight of the Polaris RZR 1000 engine ONLY is, or the engine and transmission?

Jon Castillo I would love to hear back from you I have some questions regarding the problems I’ve been have on my Polaris rzr 1000 such as do I need a gasket for the crank case or could I use permetex gasket maker and also with the rod knock is the problem the crankshaft itself or the piston rods please get back with me I started the project yesterday and I would love to get some advice from you

I use a high temp gasket maker for the casing halves. There is a specific path that you are supposed to follow with the gasket maker. See service manual. As for the rod knock, I recommend replacing the crankshaft and the piston rod that spun a bearing and putting the right size new bearings in while you are in there. Thoroughly clean all parts to get rid of all little pieces of metal that have run through the oil passages

No plastic gage? Did you have the rotating assembly balanced?

I plastic gaged my previous crank, and decided it was no good, so I bought a new crank, and tracked down the right color bearings according to the chart. I did not balance the balancer.

Jon Castillo thanks. I just got everything back from my machinist I had The whole new rotating assembly balanced, it wasnt completely balanced correctly. Not the balance shaft. I mean it was probably good enough for most people. But I always go a little further. And I had all the bearings checked for clearance. I’m about ready to assemble. I’m wanting to get a few more parts for my valvetrain like cams, beehive springs and retainers with new lifter cups to use shims.
