      My favorite point about the Addams is that they care about each other. That was one of my problems with the Munsters, as much as they "loved" each other, they still seemed to need to needle each other in a way that the Addams never did.

    In some of the interviews, Lisa Loring, Wednesday, said that Ted Cassidy was one of the sweetest, kindest and funniest actors she worked with, and the kids just loved him. You can see that when Wednesday offers to teach Lurch to dance.

    How silly that they cancelled this wonderful show after only 2 seasons. They could have run off a whole plot about Lurch meeting a similar woman and settling down with a family. Better than the Friends Ross and Rachel saga. Still a very entertaining show even after all these years. The black and white just makes it better.

    I can't be the only one that thinks Lurch is kind of cute... I mean he's tall dark handsome and if you pay attention to him he's actually very expressive. Him being such a minimalist you know he's more akin to a Vulcan like Spock or an elf in Lord of the Rings. He's completely capable of expressing himself and showing his feelings and even having them it's just it's more subtle than it is with other people.
    I think he's cute ^_^

      Leonard Nimoy revealed Spock's character actually started out less expressionful but when he improved the eyebrow raise in one episode and it looked good, the scrip writers started having him raise it at various parts in later episodes... same with Lurch's groan. He wasn't meant to speak at all until Ted came up with "you rang"... and John Astin the groan...

      There is an intrinsic warmth in the original Addams family. The new writers think making it darker, moody and more sullen will enhance the creep vibe, but the Addams never supposed themselves creepy and only appeared that way to outsiders.

    When I first viewed this episode I was 8 - 10yo. Seeing Carolyn Jones do her 'Twist' then and forever etched her into my heart. Naturally, there were other boyhood crushes; but no IT girl since has matched Carolyn Jones IMO.

      Ted Cassiday who played Lurch had respect for his cast mates and said they were wonderful to work with along with the crew. he began to hate the role because he felt he was typecast by it.

    Pugsly is such a nice older brother,
    Morticia and Gomez are relationship goals
    Fester believes in himself,
    Grandmama helps in any way she can,
    And there is a whole heck of comedy squeezed into this all!
    How did anybody not like this series?!

    this is one of the most heartwarming, kind and cheerful TV series ever. besides jokes and dark humor it teaches you that being diffrent & eccentric can go along with caring and love. Absolute classic. Ted Cassidy - you'll never be forgotten.

    Lisa Loring has passed away. This is sad news. She and the rest of the Addams Family were an important part of my childhood. John Astin is the only one left now.

    It's so nice to see these again, I loved this show when I was young. They were ahead of their time in a lot of ways. The utter love between Gomez and Morticia. Their complete kindness and openness to each other. The idea that it's okay to be who you are was kind of central.
    If someone freaked out, screamed and ran away they would calmly theorize on what may have upset them and what they could do about it.
