Election fever grips the Addams household, as Gomez supports the council candidate whose campaign promise is to drain the town's disgusting bogs. Morticia, who likes "the lovely bogs," labels the candidate an extremist. But Gomez assures her that all politicians
do the opposite of their campaign promises.

Good genetics, this lady. Cheekbones, so great. She was in a thriller in '53 with Vincent Price, "House of Wax", and you could see how teensy her waist was. Shame she left us early from cancer. Her last role was as a matriarch villainess in a 1980's soap if memory serves; she started to wear a turban a lot at one point.
Always fun to watch her as Morticia.

I don't like the sequels. Ted Cassidy died before the sequels.
The movie were fire but why nobody was talking about the show. The writing is nice for a show of that era.

There is something in Morticia's voice that I find hypnotic whenever she says "Thank you, Thing". Really soothing!
Gomez as a prosecution lawyer... I can only imagine how the accused would be begging to be put into prison just to end the questioning. But how many defence lawyers went the same way or ended in asylum?
In another episode he brags about locking up guilty men. The other man says questioning "you’re a prosecuting attorney?" Addams is offended and says "attorney for the defense", he is a criminal defense attorney.

Personally, I really like how the writers add to Gomez’s character as an experienced lawyer. It also explains why the Addams family seems to have so much money.
Edit - I can definitely imagine Mr Addams in a court room defending the rights of clients

In another episode Gomez says the following to Morticia after Pugsley tells them he intends to get a part time job "We Addams haven't worked a real Job in over 300 yrs, managed sure ,advised? certainly but worked? No"

Mortica (Carolyn Jones) died to young from colon cancer at 53 years old. It’s sad actually, and she was talented as well as beautiful. Her blue eyes were in credible too. I had the hots for her when I was a teenager.

This show aged so well. It’s still amazing.
Watching this from an adult perspective, I realize how much of the humor, and innuendos, i was totally unaware of when i was a child. It is amusing to see how much of the political agenda still plays out today. Carolyn Jones and John Astin were so good in this!

Addams family is suitable for adults more than for kids...like this episode.
The comedy based on comics for adults in papers.When I was so young I found the show so hard to get.. Just the title and theme song and ghoulish atmosphere fascinated me...just understand the real meaning of those dialogues when I grew up with really pay attention to each episode.
Dark comedy for babyboomers of yesterday , teenagers (and kids !!) today...!!!???
All the satire would fly over children's heads. And sometimes the humor is a little too dark and out there for tots.
@@eduardo_corrochio, in a "lighter" mode, "Rocky & Bullwinkle" was multi-tiered comedy at it's best, along with W.B.'s cartoons. Both children and adults would laugh at the same time but at different levels. Genius

The introductory bit with the first campaigner was driving me nuts. I knew the name 'Hilliard', but I couldn't remember where. Then when Gomez mentioned the school board, it clicked. The truant officer. That is a fantastic piece of continuity from a show that doesn't use it much

Unfortunately, while the episode is now in the public domain, the music isn't. Reissues of The Beverly Hillbillies (also an MGM property) either have the music muted out or are replaced with a new (karaoke-sounding) rendition by god knows who (as the original credits are still intact and thus only credit the original version).

Why was this show only 2 seasons?
The company wanted to change their image.
The Munsters was also only 2 seasons
They wanted colorized films
Despite the show being a success, the network wanted more "mature" content. Big mistake.

My grandpa actually did that for a living when I was younger. He is now deceased.

20K was an awful lot of money for one person to give for just a local city/town council election in 1964. That's close to 170K today!
