Gomez is my favourite character (it's so hard to choose one!). He's fun and free-spirited, he fences, plays with model train sets and can walk up walls! (as seen in Scooby Doo meets the Addams Family) - Pugsley takes after his dad at climbing walls (he climbs them in anticipation in the animated movie). Gomez is hardly ever serious, loves everything and everyone and takes most things as as a game. His looks are weird, he is the epitome of kooky and I think he's great. Love him 😂
Best sitcom ever...I love the way Morticia moves and the way Gomez worships her. Couple goals!
I like the show, but pedestalizing women is a terrible idea and never works out like it does on a TV show.

The Addams Family are living every part of the American dream. Big beautiful house filled with nice things, hired help, harmonious family and perfect marriage with loving extended family, literal money to burn.......sigh
truth, and they're immune from discrimination for their spiritual practices, nobody is burning down their house for growing some plants or speaking with the dead.
They really are my favorite TV family. Same with the Simpsons before season 8...
But the Addams' hold a truly special place in my heart particularly because of the relationship Morticia and Gomez have. Someday I'm truly hoping to find my bulbula...🖤💋🕸

The happiest, healthiest, most lovable family in TV history. How many married couples on TV not just loved each other, but LUSTED for each other, the way Gomez and Morticia did? And they loved their children and everyone else, too. Next tosomeone like the Cleavers, who seemed so emotionally icy that they were TRULY eerie, the Addamses were a dream family. I was about 12 years old when they were on, and I used to have incredible happy fantasies about having them as neighbors. I would have spent ALL my time at their house!
And such a sweet menagerie of pets! (and Thing)

If you watch throughout this episode you can see Thing change back and forth from being a Left and Right hand. Traditionally he's been a right hand.

So funny because this show, filmed in the early 1960s, also takes place in the early 1960s, yet she is using a 3-D photo viewer from the 1800s. THIS is one more reason I loved this show! And the house from the opening credits shows an antenna on the roof yet never is a television set shown. The family plays games together, reads, dances, plays music, fences.... No time for television when they were so busy living!
The political episode had a TV in it. I think it was called "Gomez the Politician". That's the only one I can think of with a TV in it.
I have the whole series on DVD, but, it's nice to find something like this on the internet once in a while.

Uncle Fester was everyone’s or almost everyone’s favorite Uncle during the run of the Addams family run on ABC from 1964 to 1966 on Friday nights.
Back then, I wished I could be in their family, rather than my own. They loved each other. They had what they needed and anything they wanted. They weren't cruel or hateful to each other.
I was 8yrs 1964 ,Love this rate G show prime time. Nothing like it today. Funny

Like "The Andy Griffith Show", this sitcom rarely ever dates itself with a reference to current events or something like that. Good of the writers, as it makes the show timeless.

Carolyn Jones really is an extremely talented actor. So natural. I love how subtle she played the part.

Carolyn Jones only made two season what a pity. This was one of the best performances I have seen from stage actor from the movie after who played alongside Marilyn Monroe ever! They really had something here and after two seasons it was canceled. The munsters and bewitched were released the same moment as the Addams family. Hey the world went silly and I loved it. All I hope is that people know that Carolyn JonesWas not only a great actress but she was a wonderful human being I love her very much and would like to see more people engrossed in her work.
Anjelica Houston said that when she played Morticia in the movie, she really had to work hard to recreate the part for heself, because Carolyn Jones basically OWNED it. Anjelica did a good job, but to me Carolyn is the one and only Morticia.

It was Ted Cassidy's idea to say "you rang?'. The producers were so taken my his magnificent voice they gave him a few lines in every episode. Originally, he wasn't meant to talk at all.
