Yes
@@TheLastBaconohhh, hell yeah, good luck. :)
The sheer fact that only 25% of the ocean has been discovered means that... Reaper leviathans could exist
Terrifying :)
I am not scientist so take this with grain of salt, but the level of oxygen in our planet right now just made it impossible for anything larger than a blue whale to exist
@@ryoid6001reapers are smaller than blue whales
@@ryoid6001 so sea treaders COULD exist
we are also heard unknown sounds from ocean
Great vid! I have almost forgotten your calm, soothing voice you use for your lore vids… so glad lore is back!
Thank you kindly! Glad you enjoyed! :)
In the small town of Crestwood, nestled between rolling hills and green pastures, lived a man named Michael. His story was one woven with threads of joy, sorrow, and the enduring bond between a man and his faithful companion.
Michael's father, a wise and gentle soul, gifted him a furry friend named Rex when he was just a young boy. Rex was a loyal companion, always by Michael's side through the ups and downs of childhood. The duo became inseparable, creating a bond that transcended words.
However, as time passed, the inevitable cruelty of life unveiled itself. Rex, with his wagging tail and soulful eyes, succumbed to the passage of time. Michael, who was still a boy when he witnessed the fragility of life, couldn't comprehend why dogs didn't live as long as people. His heart ached with a pain that only those who have loved and lost could understand.
In an attempt to fill the void left by Rex's departure, Michael's father decided to bring a new, young pup into their home. A ball of fur named Buddy entered Michael's life, full of energy and boundless enthusiasm. Yet, despite Buddy's exuberance, Michael couldn't help but remember the lessons taught by Rex - the quiet wisdom, the shared secrets, and the unspoken understanding.
As the years went by, Michael and Buddy grew older together. They became each other's confidantes, weathering the storms of life side by side. Michael, now an old man with silver hair and a lifetime of memories etched in his eyes, often found solace in Buddy's unwavering companionship.
But, as fate would have it, the hands of time continued their relentless march. Michael's once vibrant spirit started to wane, and his steps became slower. Buddy, too, aged gracefully, his once lively antics replaced by a calm and comforting presence.
On Michael's 84th birthday, as he sat on the porch of his weathered home, Buddy nestled by his side, the two friends shared a reflective gaze. Michael, in the twilight of his years, whispered words of gratitude to Buddy, acknowledging the profound impact the little pup had made on his life. And as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting hues of orange and pink across the sky, Michael closed his eyes for the last time, leaving behind a legacy of love and companionship.
Buddy, now an elderly dog with a heart heavy with loss, lay beside his lifelong friend waiting to join him. In the quiet of that evening, the townsfolk could almost hear the echo of a bond that had transcended time and mortality - a testament to the enduring power of love, friendship, and the bittersweet beauty of a life well-lived.
Huh :)
I study marine life and my favorite anglerfish has to be Ogcocephalus darwini or the Galapagos batfish or the most common name being the red-lipped batfish which look’s hilarious
Haha I looked it up and I LOVE the batfish! :D
You can tell me for hours and hours just how horrifying and dangerous oceans and unknown places in general can be. Yet my desire to explore those places just gets stronger and stronger.
Glad the lore videos are finally back! Sometimes we all forget that the best lore is the real-life one.
You were destined to be a marine biologist :D
@@TheLastBacon The ironic part is: I don't want to work as a marine biologist, in the future. I'm actually more interested towards astronomy and studying exoplanets (you can notice I like exoplanets from the fact my username and profile pic are an exoplanet).
Same. Also, what exoplanet is that? Or is that just Mars?@@trappist-1d587
Ohh wait trappist 1-D that makes sense. Good choice :)
The anglerfish has always been my favorite species of fish ever since I was a kid. I was a weird kid.
You weren't weird you were cool =)
They are super cool for sure :)
Im hoping for more of this real life stuff. Your passion (I assume) influenced from subnautica gives this a unique, more passionate feel unlike most channels that cover wildlife, so, do more pls 🙃🙏
Thank you kindly! I'd love to do more :)
Where I live we eat the common monkfish or European angler _(Lophius piscatorius)_ and I have to say that it is delicious. It has a mild flavor that is perfect to serve with different dreassings. Also, it has few and big spines, so they are easy to remove.
I love the deep sea anglerfishes, but my favourites are from the frogfish family. Their tiny fish arms, the colors and camouflage, and sometimes their pompoms and their constant annoyed face xD
Oh that's super cool! And yeah I googled the frogfish and they're so cool! :D
Amazing vid bacon. Nice and informative, well done! I wonder how the deep sea anglerfish tastes tho. Doubt ill ever get to try it myself.
I wonder too :) Thank you kindly!
…watch yourself
Hearing anglerfish... *ptsd from Outer Wilds triggered*
To Bacon: if you haven't played it... you should play it! Without spoilers for the game... there is a void with white lights in the darkness... some are anglerfish, others are exits...
I definitely want to! :)
Nice format, Mr Bacon! Hope to see more videos like this one, because no fiction could be more creepy, than reality)
Thank you! More shall come :)
we need more of this :3 your voice and tonality is perfect for it
Yay thank you! More small come :)
Well made video as always!
Yay thank you! :)
I kind of like this new content you’re doing with this video. Thank you for sharing Bacon.
Thank you kindly :) Just trying some different stuff!
@@TheLastBacon I think that it works well for you and what you do. Hope you are well and I will see you in whatever next video you make.
I would LOVE to just dive into the inexplicable depths 😮
I'd be terrified to :)
It's unfortunate this video didn't get more views. Your voice is perfect for nature fact videos like this!
Thank you :) I really enjoyed making this one!
Hey bacon I have a cool idea for a subnautica challenge:
Cyclopses, when as close to the surface as possible make a surface you can stand on, so my idea for a challenge is to cover as much of the map as possible with land by using many, many cyclopses
I like the idea :)
awesome video, I hope to see more stuff like this
Thank you very much :)
I'm really liking these real-life ocean videos, probably even more than the Subnautica ones. I gotta say in some of those photos the anglerfish look so bizarre and alien they could almost be Subnautica creatures...also holy cow I didn't know they got up to a meter long 👀I thought the biggest they got was like the size of your hand, that's kind of unnerving xD
Yay thank you :) And yeah you're totally right some of these look like aliens.
Hmmmmm. The last bacon as a wildlife narrators.
I'd be up for that
I'd be down :D
same
That’s fascinating, I didn’t know it was more of a female trait to have that classic light nemo engraved in my brain and I didn’t realize it plays an even bigger role in their survival considering it’s also to help them find a mate. I enjoy your videos, I am absolutely fascinated and obsessed with the depths of the ocean, probably why I can’t get over Subnautica as well xD When you look at what’s down there it really feels like we are in a different planet!
Thank you kindly :) Yeah it's really interesting for sure - I didn't know either before researching for this vid.
I love the felling of seeing a notification on my screen saying you uploaded a new video
Thank you kindly! :)
I really liked this vid. You should do more about other deep sea creatures
Yay thank you! :) I’d love to!
Gotta love it when real life creatures are scarier than creatures of subnautica😔
Haha ikr! :)
I love your videos so much
Thank you kindly! :)
Please do more of these I love them 👍
I’d love to :)

that angler fish when i was younger scared me so badly.. and the barracuda in the start, maybe thats why im so afraid of the ocean
I feel that :)
didn't even watch the video yet but i bet that it will be another cool video
Really hope so :)
To be fair, with the small amount we have actually explored of the ocean (Around 5% has actually been SEEN by humans) it makes you wonder - what ELSE is out there in the depths of our own waters.
I mean seriously.
We talk about how subnautica and what not is terrifying that we forget the real life horror area - Our Oceans.
Yep absolutely :) It's a terrifying thought!
Nothing large. Sorry, but take a marine bio course and you'll probably be disappointed. We have other ways of learning about the existence of animals besides just _seeing them directly._ Anything equally as large as a whale, or larger, would have noticeable ecological ripples that would hint us in to its existence. Also, animals _move around._ They don't stay in one place. We don't need to explore every inch of the ocean to find a theoretical gigantic, moving creature.
So, sorry to disappoint you. But at least if you were _scared_ of the idea, you can rest easy knowing it's totally false.
HI Nice vid Fun to Watch and now I wanna taste the anglerfish lmaoo
Same haha :)
Lore of real fish is scarier than Subnautica lore
You're not even wrong :D

Very Iconic in a terrifying way.
Absolutely! :)
Hey! It’s me! Well, sort of. I know I know, no photographs please…no seriously, I’m sensitive to bright lights. There are actually a few male anglerfish that don’t latch on to females. I’m one of them. The rest usually sit at home playing games and watching CZcams videos…again, like me
0:53 honestly, surprisingly I was complete opposite. I absolutely loved that scene as a kid to the point where I figured out how to work the scene select in the DVD menu just to rewatch the scene over and over
Oh that's interesting about the scene :) For me it was super spooky!
you said somethin sciencey that i understood im still confused though cause im dumb but good video mate
Haha glad you still enjoyed :)
Hey bacon! Just wondering which channel I should put my creepypasta, id put another teaser but if better not. Instead ima give you the image that it’s based off. Look up “the threat beneath the ocean” and look at images
Maybe in the Subnautica channel :)
Need more vids like dis…

Heck yes :)
Just watched this at night, hope i dont get a nightmare for this
By the way Greta vid!
Hope you don't either! Thank u :)
Okay but, if they ever find anything resembling crashfish, I’m moving to mars ASAP
Haha you and me both :)
Someone send a game warden down there, I don’t think the anglerfish have licenses to fish
Definitely not :D
plz upload more of this
Would be fun :)
from subnautica enjoyer to marine biologist
i only see one way this ends
Haha the only logical evolution :D
Some type of deep sea fish like anglers, will have teeth so big they need to have holes in their skulls to close their mouths. Side note, Moray eels have pharyngeal jaws. Isn't that wonderful?
That's crazy! Life really is wonderful :)
42th day of asking the last bacon to make a series of him playing outer wilds(gonna keep asking before he does)
:)
I have been able to convince myself that all of the deep sea creatures are really cool, or not scary, all except this thing! I have tried but to no avail. I know realistically one could never hurt me, but I can't help but think this thing is just down right disturbing.
Yeah these are just built different :)
@Roanokegaming Needs to be recommended this video. If anyone has seen his content He is obsessed with Angler Fish lol These definitely are fascinating Demon creatures lol
Yay he might like this one then! :)
This would spice up subnautica if there were more medium sized fish like comb jellies and gulper eels and especially giant squids
Would be awesome for sure :)
@@TheLastBacon except there’s already a giant squid like the kraken from the Cthulhu mod. Hey at least the garg isn’t real!😅😅😅
If this is a New Series i'm mess with it
Maybe! :)
RARE MOMENT!
The Last Bacon has posted a video about real life creatures instead of Subnautica!
Rare indeed :)
bro i love your videos your the only subnautica content creator i watch bcs i find your videos intresting and you got me into mods
Thank you so much :)
are you gonna make a video on the subnautica 3 leaks?
its confirmed the release date will be in 1H25
I thought about it - but tbh much still isn't known so I'll probably wait for more news :)
the life in the ocean is very intresting
It really is :)
here have been skeletal remains of dinosaurs that were up to 36 meters in length. I wonder if anything could theoretically get larger.
Okay, land animals can only be up to 120 tons (American) the article I read did not specify for oceanic animals though. It would be cool if we found a hycean planet with low gravity and high oxygen to test this, though. (Cough cough 4546B)
Even 36m is already crazy :)
Larger than a glow whale!@@TheLastBacon
If there was something larger than that in the deep ocean, we'd have found it by now. Took a bio course in college, which included marine bio. There are dozens of other ways besides actually catching a big fish on camera to determine if it exists. Washed-up remains, carcasses, spawn, a giant ecological niche that can't be explained. Creatures also _move,_ so even though most of the ocean is unexplored, it's extremely unlikely that something massive just... exists somewhere, and we haven't found it. Not with our modern technology.
Hate to burst your bubble, but I see this, "The ocean is so unexplored, there could be monsters!" thing on almost every deep sea video, and it's sort of tiresome. The idea is cool, which is why it grabs people, but it's simply not possible. If you really care about marine biology and new discoveries, though, there's dozens every year. Tiny animals, of course. But some of them are fascinating.
That is true. I always was interested in marine biology. I never believed that there is an animal on earth larger than the blue whale, and it does not surprise me if that is near the size limit for animals or even organisms on earth.@@bugjams
Today, we look at something more terrifying than video game monsters, monsters from real life.
Haha exactly :)
btw that special organ, known as "esca" literally stands for "bait" in italian (but i assume it refers to the same word from latin)
