    Story 5: OP does NOT deserve 2/5 buttholes. They are just following the agreement they made with their parents. They’re 100% right when they told their parents that if they want OP out, then they can evict them legally. Expecting OP to let them break their agreement because “boo hoo, your sister isn’t happy enough with the decent shelter she already has” is bs.
    Yeah, it’s not their house. But their parents are effectively, their landlord. You wouldn’t allow a landlord to just kick a tenant out without legally evicting them just cuz it’s “not their house”, so why do OP’s parents get a pass?

    Story 5: I don’t think it’s fair to give her an AH score. She lost her partner and job, she’s had a bad year, and her parents who offered to help her changed their mind in a second for no reason at all. Who buys a flashy car (or any car) when unemployed?!
    I also went to the OP post and saw that the sister still owns their house, so they’re choosing to be homeless, and are moving in to spite OP and her parents are just going with that.
    Ok, the place is not hers, but is it crazy to expect your parents to help you in a time of need? Or to remember that they don’t have just one child? If I was OP I’d move out and cut all contact with them, but not before I speak my mind to them and send them all to hell!

How is she a 2/5 for not wanting to give that up for her well-off sister?! Like yes, fundamentally it isn't her house. But it feels like her family is completely undermining her situation and her time, effort, and finances. If you want to give her an AH score for it not being her house, fine. Only for maybe a year, and it has been far less than that at the time of this post (you can look through OP's own posts, they go over their intent a time or two). Story 1: NTA. As an animal lover and cat owner myself, that one struck a nerve. I'm glad OP got her cat back and I'm wishing her and Whiskey the best. Screw her ex-fiancé and Kim. Pregnancy is an EXPLANATION, not an EXCUSE for some of Kim's actions, but she not only uses it as an excuse/shield, but also does premeditated shit like this which she probably would have done if she wasn't pregnant. What a horrible person.
    Story 2: NTA. Part of me kind of understands that Abby is blinded with joy when she's finally able to have a son after tens of miscarriages, but if she keeps spoiling her son like that, it's going to come back to bite her in the future, hard. I cannot, in the slightest, blame OP for being frustrated.
    Story 3: NTA. Anna didn't shave her head out of her own conscious choice and support of her cancer-ridden mother, she did it because her mother emotionally blackmailed her to. Yes, the wife is self-conscious and going through an extremely traumatic experience, but it's completely within Anna's right to not want to shave the hair she put so much care into, especially since she's 17 and might face hell for it socially. OP was right to get mad at his wife, she has no right to emotionally manipulate (and gaslight! "Oh, it was Anna's choice") her own daughter.
    Story 4: NTA. It's well within Anna and OP's dad's perogative to not want children at the wedding, but OP is literally the groom's daughter. She should have definitely gotten a pass. ESPECIALLY SINCE SHE WAS ABOUT TO BE 18 ANYWAY!
    Story 5: Eh... NTA, honestly, because, yes, you're right, it's not OP's house, but if it's a large house, then why is the idea immediately to kick OP out and have the sister live there? Is it because OP renovated the house to the point where it's livable now, so her sister wants it? Giving OP 2/5 is a bit too harsh imo. Maybe 0.5/5 buttholes is more justifiable, and that's AT MOST. She's nowhere near the plane of buttholery that her family is.
    Story 6: Easy NTA. OP doesn't deserve this treatment and owes nothing to a gaslighter and backstabber. I would have walked out, too.

    • @Gaster601
      @Gaster601 Před 10 měsíci +3

      I wouldn't even go that far and give story 5 OP 0/5, just because she didn't even do anything wrong. She IS a legal tenant, so the law speaks for itself and the parents can evict her if they choose to do so. The parents didn't even acknowledge that she invested money into the property to make it livable again and they also ignore the fact that not only OP but also Olha and her child are living there. By the looks of it, they wouldn't be cool with Olha moving in with their daughter into their house by the way how they act towards their own flesh and blood.
      OP also gave an update that states that her spoiled brat-sister still OWNS the house they lived in but chose to abandon that one, so they CHOSE to become "homeless". Not only that, they still have enough money go buy a fancy car, so a lack of money for renting a place is out of the question.
      r/slash is completely off his meds in that situation. 2/5 is laughable if we look at other ratings he gave.

  • @Chatagorath
    @Chatagorath Před 10 měsíci +10

    Story 5: OP does not deserve a butthole score at all! The parents said she can live there as long as she wanted which is a verbal contract. If the parents want her out they need to evict her legally. And why do people think if you have a family and you don't you have to bend over backwards for that family. If you decide to breed you do not get preferential treatment at all!

  • @lizziefirkey6385
    @lizziefirkey6385 Před 10 měsíci +15

    Story 5: Let's not confuse legality for morality :P Yes. It isn't OP's house. But they were told it was theirs as long as they needed. Judging by the text in the story ("last spring" + "recent drama") it's been, at best, a year since OP moved in. In the grand scheme of things, that's not a super long time. And that's assuming it hasn't been, say, a few months instead.
    Plus, OP has been doing work on the house. Depending on how much they've done, the combined cost of labor and materials could be far more than rent.
    I dunno. I don't think the OP is an AH for not wanting to leave, especially given the circumstances. Why uproot someome when the other person you want to house also has a viable option?

    Okay for the 5th story I mostly agree with you, but double check these lines that the parents say when OP is struggling: "My parents invited me to stay there (rent free), told me it was my home for as long as I needed) then the other line after the favorite one & her family ran into trouble: "Almost immediately my parents and sister approached me to swap (I move in with our parents and sis and her family take my place)" & yes while it is the parents houses, they still made an agreement & they're trying to go back on it for the favorite child, obviously I won't go into the sister's family staying with the parents because we all know why, because the parent's don't want to deal with them, so they're going back on the agreement they made with OP for their favorite child, & claim that the sister's problem is just as bad as Olha, how are they gonna compare the sister's situation to Olha's when the sis & brother-in-law are still loaded, they have enough to get a flashy car, so what's stopping them from just renting an apartment or a rental house? Simple, they don't want to, so effectively they want to take OP's house which they claim is too big for her (yet Olha & her child are there) & send her to the parents, forgetting about the situation that not just OP is in but the other mother & child. This is literally the "Do It FoR dAaAaAaAn" story all over again, so Rslash, I've always listened to & love your stories, but dude, it legit sounds like you gave OP a AH score just for not giving into favoritism or refusing to be guilt-tripped.

    First Story, NTA: Kim is constantly being disrespectful to OP and even went so far as to try to get rid of OP's family member (I see pets as family members) and OP's fiancé tries to justify it by saying she is pregnant. So what if she is pregnant? That doesn’t give her the right to be a horrible person. I’m glad OP got rid of her scumbag of a fiancé. The fact that he was in on this messed up plan (all behind OP's back by the way) to get rid of OP'S CAT is baffling. Keep the cat, get rid of the fiancé
    Second Story, NTA: I get that miscarriages are traumatic and all but Abby needed that dose of reality. Her parenting and lack of discipline for her son will cause a lot of harm down the way. Hell, already his behavior is so bad that OP considered excluding Abby and her son (which I don’t boame OP). If Abby keeps refusing to discipline her child and he keeps acting like this, she can’t be surprised when both her and her son are hated by everyone and shouldn’t be upset for why her son can’t make friends
    Third Story, NTA: OP's wife emotionally manipulated their daughter into cutting her hair to "show support". There are a lot of ways to show support than forcing ur child to cut her hair. OP's wife is a red flag in my opinion and she shouldn’t be surprised when her daughter hates her for this.
    Fourth Story, NTA: Lmao, OP's dad and Anna are just mad because they are getting the rightful bashing they deserve for excluding OP from the wedding when she was literally about to turn 18. It would’ve been a different story if the wedding was a year before OP turned 18 but 2 days after the wedding is crazy.
    Fifth Story, NTA: I have to disagree with Rslash. OP's parents can’t just basically give OP the house and then suddenly take it back, especially after OP put a lot of money into renovating it. If they want OP to leave the house, they could pay OP for all the renovations but if they are going to refuse to do that then they can evict OP, which they are refusing to do
    Sixth Story, NTA: The crazy thing about all of this is that TOM told OP and Stacy kept quiet about this affair. Stacy ruined OP's relationship and still expected OP to attend the wedding? Yes, it wasn't her house, but it was a promise made to her by her parents that they suddenly flipped on. I thought you were going to give a 0.5, but a 2? Imo, she didn't deserve a score at all.

      As other comments are pointing out, OP has said the sister+BIL do actually own a house (on top of having enough for a "flashy" new car too). They're most likely in this situation to try and escape drama and/or legal issues relating to the *shady company.* This doesn't justify their entitled behavior already, but in addition:
      Their parents have room for them as stated.
      OP has her own shit to deal with (losing her job and her HUSBAND).
      Don't forget that she put a lot of her own money, sweat, and tears into fixing the house up.
      Unless OP is lying or there's more missing context she's really a 0/5. Being legally screwed isn't a justification for AH points by itself, what matters is who's the one fucking people over, and Rslash mentions zero of these others elements in his score.

    Story 1: Btch got off easy. I'd have been far less kind than OP...
    Story 2: If you love your "miracle baby" then raise him properly before he pisses off the wrong person and gets the sh!t beat out of him or worse.
    Story 3: Severe emotional manipulation. Her shaved head isn't gonna cure you, but it might cost you a relationship.
    Story 4: Being anal about an age limit makes sense for liability, like when I was 3-4 DAYS too young to go meet Beluga whales on vacation in Alaska. Kicking your own daughter out of your wedding for being TWO DAYS too young is just AH behavior. Someone had something against her. They weren't just "following the rules." It's a private wedding, not a fking business worried about getting sued because someone drowned in the whale enclosure. No one would have even looked at OP and thought "hey, that's a LITERAL CHILD! THIS IS UNFAIR!"
    Story 5: 2? Really? Over a technicality? This isn't "am I legally in the right" (which OP just might be anyway) it's "AITA" and no, they're not being an AH for wanting their parents to be fair and keep their promises. By your standards maybe I'd give OP a .5, but even that feels wrong. FFS, dude.

    Story 3: this angers me. My mom went through chemo during the pandemic (she had early stage breast cancer due to what she did for a living as a science teacher and being around radioactive material) and she had to shave her head. She never asked me to shave my hair or enforced it. She knew I had other ways of supporting her by just taking care of her, wearing a scarf that I gotten from performing with my school band at Susan g Komen walks/races, and just praying for her. She is cancer free and has had her hair come back since.
    But this lady is so terrible. She does realize that there are other ways to support you without needing to shave their head, right? I know some people do it, but that is because they want to.
