It reminds me when i knew my boyfriend (Now my fiancé) eleven years ago. The first five years we have a long distance relationship (We live between 100KM and 450 KM given the year). Each time we met we were so excited, and when i knew we would live together i was uncontrollable, because i was soooooo happy.

Every time someone said to would you like a mince pie and they pulled out that tart thing I would automatically say that's not a mince pie 😒🤢
I remember this one time when my family and I visited my grandad when he lived on a boat and he asked me " do you want a mince pie kiddo? " I said yes thinking it was a mince and cheese pie because I hadn't eaten all day so I was hungry.
When he came out with a big 12 pack of FRUIT mince pies, and I was so disappointed but I didn't want to show it so I took two and so at them into the water 😂😂😂

You need to go to the South Island, find Fairlie (inland from Geraldine and on the way to Tekapo), and eat their pies. Mince and cheese is the best in New Zealand but there are many other fantastic flavours (e.g. Steak & Mushroom, or Salmon & Bacon). Delicious! Pity the North Islanders don't have easy access to the Fairlie Bakehouse. More for me!

If you land in Auckland go to the BLUE ROSE Sandringham, it's a fusion of different cultures mainly Maori and Pacific island food's put into a pie

We wouldnt call that a mince pie in Aussie its just a plain meat pie the fact that its made with minced beef is just a given - mince pies are more asociated with fruit mince pies that you see around at xmas time. If its a steak pie or another variety it would be described that way eg. chunky steak., pepper, cheese and bacon etc.

@@justwo There must be 50,000 bakeries in Australia half of them claim to have have won some sort of award or other for their pies, sauasage rolls, vanilla slices etc.We travel Australia a lot with our caravan last year we did the full lap of the mainland and have also road tripped both the north and south islands of NZ 4 times. Bakeries are favourite places for us like they are for many people when on the road. I can tell you that pies in both countries are pretty much the same regardless of the claims each may make about whose are better. There are the same varieties available and the quality will vary from excellent to terrible . Sometimes it depends on how long since they were baked or how long they have been sitting around in the warmer. Meat pies have always been popular in Australa I read that meat pie was actually on the menu in 1788 at the first feast they held after landing. Pie carts began appearing on the streets of Sydney as soon as the first flour mill was built in the very early 1800s. Meat pie is a dish brought by settlers from England and are common in places like Australia, NZ and South Africa.
