I think they gave you the wrong pie the hangi pie doesn't have mince in it, the hangi pie has chunks of pork and pumpkin

Muzzas has been my local since a young boy when they were in Mt Roskill. Same recipe , same method. Made with love. The best.

Mince in a hangi, you would know the unique taste of hangi meat, it would be a pulled pork or chicken filling and if they put any root vege in it like potato, kumara or pumkin you would know.
i literally was excited you got the hangi pie to see they totally gave you the wrong pie :(
Nice video guys! I must inform you however that you missed the ULTIMATE pie flavour at Blue Rose Cafe - you must return and sample the PALUSAMI pie (taro leaf cooked in coconut cream and onions, topped with some very rich and tasty corned beef)🔥🇼🇸 So good that we've banned it in our household! 🤣
BTW You want the best pie flavour in the country? Can't go past Farlie Pies salmon and bacon. Best pie hands down. You can find them somewhere in Mid Canterbury.... unfortunately they don't supply Auckland (probably still hurting over our Ranfurly shield win in '85 lol)

When we visited New Zealand in January and February this year, I found the creamy chicken pie from The Fat Bastards Invercargill the best pie in NZ and was only $6.50
We actually have gotten that a few times, it was Mado’s top favourite pies also haha
But there is definitely better!

I live in Ellerslie and that first shop you visited is my local. Such a small world. New York Pepper Steak is my favorite there.
My favourite pie crust is from bountiful earth in Swanson. Open only in the weekends, so yumm.

Try Colby Lunch bar at 4f ashfield rd . ON the north shore .Wairua valley. They do a great pie with different pastry.
Have had a pie from all those places. Blue Rose and Levains...10 out of 10 (as Mado would say). Haven't been to Muzzas for years, back when they were in Mt Roskill...further up Richardson Road... the road I grew up on. Sorry about those little wet wipes you encountered in Ellerslie... which isn't dodgy btw. Very nice suburb.

@skorpiogrl I live 3 mins from Royal Oak in Onehunga. Some good pies in Onehunga. MrTs waygu beef and cheese is arguably the best of them all

I've been to the last bakery you went to plenty of times and the Beef cheek and Jalapeno pie they mentioned is awesome but everything through the entire shop is great, the rolls, pastries, pies, sausage rolls, donuts, breads are tops

Turbos don't get turned off when you stop. They turn off by themselves after a short time. Just saying that might be what you're seeing.
They never turn "off" lmao. They activate at a certain RPM. Always Functional just really start spinning at the right RPM.

Torbay bakery won the latest supreme pie award, in fact their pies have numerous awards, so has Mairangi bay bakery both on the shore, over the bridge. good luck 😢

So glad you visited Blue Rose Café but I think you were given the wrong pie. The Hangi pie has a wonderful taste of meat & veggies, not Mince. They have awesome goodies, cakes, etc. It's dangerous!

Had to laugh when you were trying to rate the suburbs. Muzzas is in the most prestigious suburb of those you visited, some of the mist expensive real estate in Auckland across the road on the slopes of Mt Albert.

Great video...Only thing that was missing from your pies is we quite often put a little tomato to sauce on top, still great without it but? A bit like what salt and pepper is on your dinner

Or Bolton st, chick veg'n cheese or steak mushrooms & cheese @ bakery in new Lynn or Mahini bakery in Swanson, Potato Top, & chocolate fresh cream mud cake.
You should have been here about 45 years ago and tried a Mc Gregor's mutton pie from Palmerston ( south island) best ever, or a Laurenson's bakery mince pie in Dunedin.

Brilliant work guys!! I might be a bit biased… but Id say Aotearoa’s best pies are down here in the South Island. ‘World famous’ Sheffield Pies👌, Hope River Pies in Lyttelton🤤, The Fairlie Bakehouse🤠, and one of the greatest, the pork belly pie from the Greedy Cow in Tekapo😚🤌

Also it seems they gave you the wrong pie. They gave you a mince pie. Not the hangi one at blue rose. You should go back and try it and the pumpkin one. Delicious.

Hey guys in regards to cars running their engines some modern models have the option of cooling down the engine so even if you turn off and take the key with you the engine still runs for a few minutes then shuts off automatically. Side note, loved watching your South Island travels in the van! Can’t remember what you named her but yes. Great stuff!
no what you are refering to is a turbotimer , the car idles for a few minutes feeding a supply of oil to the turbo as it slows down to idle speed

I drive a red Holden Ute, and would pull up outside Muzza’s Pies, and a Steak and Bacon pie would be in a bag on the counter waiting for me when I walked in! Had to give them up (Doctors orders, over weight ) I’ll be back!
Sorry to break this to you, but it looks like you had the Bolognese pie at Blue Rose - not the Hangi one. I personally love the Bolognese pie there, totally yummy, but the hangi one definitely isn't mince!!!!

You have to try the pies out in glen innes point England it’s not in the main area town it’s going pass holland avenue just left of the roundabout you should see it the mince and cheese is so tasty I don’t think people know too much about it unless you live there

My go to is Mount Richmond not to far from Ellersllie. Big chunks of steak, mince and cheese, bacon and egg and many more. Pies usually $5.

You guys should try the pies at Greenwood corner in Manukau Road, Royal Oak. Their pies are so yummy & have better lighter pastry than the pie shop in Ellerslie.
