I would say no the second person asked me if they could have 30 seconds of my time. If they somehow got past that, I’d straight up hang up the second they started getting pushy about coming today. Also the straight jacket line makes this feel like a scam. You should avoid hyperbolic speech in sales. A) it’s cheesy and B) makes the entire thing feel inauthentic and too good to be true

Some people say they don't want to buy anything but if I talk to them for a while sometimes they change their mind and buy from me just because they like me after talking to me. I'm just looking for some shortcuts to sell my icecream or non dairy when I get a no. More people say no to icecream than they say yes. Try to sell icecream it's the same as selling anything else.

It happens in the automotive industry. It's just doesn't happen too often but when I was selling cars we would have a high demand for certain used cars that we didn't have in our inventory. Therefore, we had to find which previous customers had those used cars that were in high demand. Of course the negative equity is going to roll over to the loan of the new vehicle, but if the overall cost benefits is better than what the customer has with the trade-in such as warranty, mileage, vehicle maintenance, features, etc. Then, it all makes sense

Be confident, practice with people, make them pretend to be a customer. It lets you relax while learning how different people will object and with less stress you’ll be a little more quick on your feet. It will be easier to be creative, when you think “damn, that was good” REMEMBER THAT SHIT!
It’s impossible to learn in one week or month. Learn your product, build value, learn to close after time. If you can get appointments and bring people in you’re managers are going to help you learn. Believe it or not, the managers are there to sell cars too! They get paid on that shit. So if you can show them that you’re willing to get people there and put in work they’ll start teaching you more. We had one guy quit after 7 hours! They see so many salesman before and after you they can’t waste time on people who aren’t made for this.
My last piece of advice, if you are working a deal and you don’t really know what to do, listen to what the managers say. Whether you can explain it or not just follow them. They understand the moving pieces better, trust that they know what they are doing. Stay hungry big dawg.

I had such a sad excuse of a car salesman a few months ago - he couldn't close me. Went across the street and talked to a dude who got me into a car that was $150 over the payment number I wanted.... it just took persistence, trying to help me, and reasoning with me.
At the end of the day, my payment was a little higher, but overall I'm satisfied with the car I got, he educated me on why my payment would be higher vs. being stuck at a payment with a car I wouldn't be happy with - it's crazy how much you can accomplish by simply explaining and reasoning. Like I said, at the end of the day my payment was higher, but I love my car.... and I had a good experience.
The only difference was one salesman gave up too quickly and didn't want to put the work in..... the other salesman across the street took the time to see what I wanted, let me drive a few cars, then explained why it would cost more when it came down to features.
    Persistence pays off!

I learned alot from this but for me, IF I were on the other end of that call, Once she said, "He is getting so crazy, we're about to put him in a straight-jacket." is where I would've said no thank you and hung up. I HATE stupid statements like that. For me, I would be more willing to have come in with the, "The market is changing and we're offering over NADA for your trade in, I would love to get you in a new car or truck with a fresh waranty." Or something along those lines.
I am not saying this doesn't work or is a bad idea. Just stating that listening to it from the outside and having received those calls before is why I would respond differently. What I am curious about is if this method is tranferable to other sales industries and / or can you modify the delivery / punch line and still be successful?

Haha. Mercedes has tried to buy back my custom built Mercedes SUV about 70 times now with letters. After first few calls told them to stop. Stuff on the lot back in 2018 new was about 86k but only had 10% of features I wanted. Had custom built all I wanted for 100k. New cars post corona most are trash now just like the houses. My service advisor who I trust said my GLS series they no longer have racing engine in there with air suspension they have cheap spring shocks and clunky transmission and drive like sh&t. Mine accelerates like butter and rides like a cloud. New Mercedes is egg shape where you hit your head on the roof and they call it sporty or some other nonsense to save production costs. It has little more tech than mine but everything else styling, room, parts mine is superior. My service guy said to equal what I have now would have to buy the Mercedes Maybach SUV for 200k plus. Will just keep what I have. People that own nice cars that make six to seven figures a year don't give a sh*t about trading in their vehicle to get more than 10k what it's worth. Their time is worth thousands per hour. Now someone who bought for 50k a car that makes say 75k a year income and now can get 10k more they might have interest in it. So you have to know your customer. People with money make the rules. Anytime someone wants my business they do it on my terms or I go elsewhere. When you are highly successful you have leverage. When you are in the masses you become a pawn to businesses and a statistic.

First off, I love Andy, so let's clarify that! Second, it's the principle. In fact, that used phone may hold its value more than most used cars, which are depreciating machines, thus making them a liability if you are not using them to make money anyways. But to my point, everyone who is either in the industry or who understands markets from a broader perspective WILL know that this is just a tactic and although you COULD end up getting a good deal, most times, unless you're actively in the market for a new vehicle, you are not.
In the Automotive Industry, the one doing the "winning" in the deal is usually NOT the customer. And not even the dealerships, but the banks...JS

That is just because you don't want to be sold. You either fall in the category of a disagreeable customer who is going to always say no. No, even if you have very little-to-no understanding of what it is that you're saying NO to. Or you fall in the category of an Analytical customer who has done a ton of research and when asking a question about the product/services, you already know the answer to the question that is being asked, but you want to see whether or not the Salesperson knows what they're talking about. If the salesperson is honest, straightforward, and overcomes all your objections than he/she has a better chance at closing you. Since you just said it doesn't matter how good the Salesperson is, you're answer is always no. You're just a disagreeable buyer
