Excellent progress Mark, one wing a day is plenty, I agree 👍🙂

Your videos on using polyester as covering convinced me to try it. I've been putting off covering some builds due to the cost of coverings.
    Thank you for your videos.

It looks great! I had a friend do this on a foam wing using a water based poly urethane once. I have never saw this over a wooden frame. I am following your channel now and am very interested in how you do the final finish and fuel proofing. It looks great and thanks for sharing!!

Hi Mark beautiful work. do you know how much weight is the polyester you use for covering I really appreciate the info. thanks

The polyester that I used has a weight of 70gm/m which I think is very favourable to commercial textile covering such as Oratex (100gm/m). It does require the addition of dope to seal however this adds minimal weight.

I tried the weight by "feel" in the shop weighed it when I got home it turns out to be 70gms per square metre.

How many coats of dope do you use to seal the covering

Where do you get your polyester from? The price of heat shrink coverings has become eye watering lately. Maybe polyester is the way to go?

Its sold as dress lining £2.50 for a metre, check out your local habidashery store.

Its Mod Podge , it seems like a thick PVA glue. I have also used Gorilla wood glue and cellulose dope.

Trust me, as I open a can of dope to paint or spray she comes out to the garage to complain... I don't even need to use any. But for some reason she can open nail polish remover and fumigation the whole house and I'm delusional about the smell.
