    Thanks I assumed that I was using the tape wrong or that it was of bad quality.
    Also that stabilizer looks like it would make for a nice vintage flying wing. 😀

    Nice contrasting colour Mark I would just add if you haven't got thin masking tape to go around corners you can always stick a length on a window and cut it down to eighth of an inch wide 👍

    I'd be worried that the dope on top of the masking tape would shrink, causing the tape to buckle. When I've used this technique I've used a non-shrinking varnish such as fuel proofer or another paint colour.

      I see your logic but I have now completed the painting and it's fine. Any clear varnish would work but I'm very impatient this very much thinned down dope dries in seconds. Thanks for checking out the video hope it was useful.

    Nice tip, but i do not get it sorry, if you paint the edge of the tape do you get bleeding under the tape any way?
    I really want to understand the tip because my painted lines are always really bad.
    Thanks for sharing!!

      Ill try to explain a little more clearly.
      If you started with a base colour of yellow for example and you wanted to paint a red stripe these are the stages.
      Paint the yellow and allow to dry thoroughly
      Mask off the stripe
      Paint along the edge of the tape (the part that you want red)
      Any "bleed" will be yellow and will therefore not show
      Once dry paint the red stripe
      When your strip is dry peel the tape back on itself you will be left with a sharp clean line.

    Thanks for this video. Could you please tell me what is the first paint that you apply on the edge of the masking tape ?

    • @MarkCroucherRC4fun
      @MarkCroucherRC4fun  Před 6 měsíci

      In this case it was thinned clear dope to match the base colour of the base. If the model had a base colour of yellow then the first paint would match this colour.
