Thanks Steve. May I go backward one step? How did you remove the one-piece instrument panel (gauge cluster, etc.) of a 1969 Firebird? I need to remove my factory radio. I see 4 screws at the top of my instrument panel, and 2 screws at the bottom center of the instrument panel (the front plastic facia around the steering column), and then I can remove 2 bigger screws under the plastic facia which hold up the steering column. I also removed the ash tray from the dash. But what preliminary steps did I miss? Do I need to disconnect the car battery first? And then what do I do AFTER I remove those 8 screws that I already mentioned? My goal is to remove my factory radio.
Sorry for the delayed response. The radio is a pain on this car! Yes, d/c the battery. I actually removed the glove box cover/box to get access to the right side of the radio. My mechanic dropped the steering column and pulled the cluster out....which gives you good access r and l. Sounds like you are on the right path. Let me know how it goes. Steve
Great information, Steve, thank YOU for taking the time to document this!
Very Helpful !
The 69 is easy compared to the 67/68 firebird ,its much like a 68-74 X body nova Ventura omega Apollo
