  • A BBC News Arabic investigation has uncovered systemic child abuse inside Islamic schools in Sudan, with boys as young as five years old routinely chained, shackled and beaten by the “sheikhs”, or religious men in charge of the schools. The investigation also found evidence of sexual abuse. For 18 months, reporter, Fateh Al-Rahman Al-Hamdani, filmed inside 23 schools across Sudan. He found boys shackled and chained and witnessed brutal routine beatings.

I see people want to pass judgment and escape that blames lies on them as well whatever religion or non-religion you want to claim because in this we are all human and most of us don't follow our books or use moral compass like we should. I am a Somali American, to see the pain and suffering these children are going through - is heartbreaking 💔.
My siblings and I used to go to one these (camps) I refuse to call it a respectable place. Our father found out (through us) we were getting whippings. Once he heard of it, he took us there straight away and said to them “if you ever touch my children I will kill with my bare hand”. Thankfully we never went back.
I don’t have a good enough relationship with him now, and he’s back in Africa but watching this I thank him deeply. May these children live a happy, normal life.

Wahhab also rejected the veneration of Muslim saints and prayers at their shrines, a practice that had become widespread by the eighteenth century. Wahhab pointed to hadiths in which Muhammad himself condemned this practice, calling it shirk, the combination of idolatry and polytheism that is the worst sin of all in Islam: associating partners with Allah in worship. The Wahhabis were often just as brutal as the Islamic State is today. In an 1803 attack that could have come from today’s headlines about ISIS, the Wahhabis entered Ta’if, a city near Mecca, massacred all the men, and enslvd all the women and children.”

It is so shameful the parents ignored their kids saying they were being mistreated. they wanna cry how horrible it is, and they're so shocked and justice must be delivered. They need to have justice brought against them, in some fashion, because they left their kids there, and chose not to believe their kids who spoke up.

I don't understand why any sensible person would send a child to be raised by total strangers at such young ages. This is insane.

The parent at 09:12 is not serious. So after reading and hearing all these stories, he still proceeded to take his son to one of these khalwas. FFS 🙄

He was aware it happens but didn't think it was that close to home. Majority of these people are poor and it's the only chance to give their kids an education.
