Thank you this was helpful
Glad it helped
Thanks and a good prez as usual. What I'd like, mainly for travelling, is the ability to start on one device (iPad mini) and complete it on my iPad Pro when home.
Hi. Thanks for clip!
Just wandering bud there anyway to cache the backup files to t5 and not the app and pad storage ?
such a helpful video! I was so frustrated with my very limited IPAD gigs
You're welcome!
Hi I am using a Ipad Pro 11" 2020 and I just bought a Samsung T7 SSD can you please tell me which file system type i should use fat32,exFAT or NTFS thanks.
This is great. Truly a game changer especially with my 32gb iPad. Thanks for the tutorial and spreading the knowledge!
you're welcome, glad you like it!
@@editorskeys Unfortunately...I discovered that this only works with thunderbolt and usb-c capables. My 2 year old 7th gen ipad is not supported by the recent update. 😔
Thanks!
Welcome!
Great tip. Is there a way of exporting the project file to my Samsung T7?
Thanks for this, I couldn’t work out how to export back to my drive!
You're welcome, glad it helped!
Uncanny! Just waiting for my Samsung T5 to be delivered after seeing one of your earlier videos on Lumafusion 3.0. Great channel and content. Thanks!
Ohhh lovely. Looks like we delivered at the right time too!
Where did you get your Magic keyboard cover it from?
I am interested in editing with Lumafusion on a iPad Mini with 64 GB of memory. I have talked to different experts who disagree if you can do this with a 64 GB iPad Mini, or if you need to get the 256 GB version of the iPad Mini. One expert said the Lumafusion program needs a lot of memory on the main drive to process. Of course we would being connection to a fast SSD externally to store the project files and renders. Could you please elaborate if 64GB would be enough. I enjoyed this video you posted.
Hi, really enjoy your tutorials, thanks for your hard work, just a question, I have 3.07 but the option for external hard drive editing doesn’t appear?
I am having the same issue! Did you ever get it sorted out? Looking for advice!
i am using lightning to usp convertor and connected external hard drive via powerer UsB hub.. Still There is no option For External drive in Preference section of lumafusion setting.😒
is this workflow working on gen 1 ipad pro (2018) ?
Hello, can lumafusion read the black magic raw footage ? They usually appear as folders , inside you will see only photos , in premier pro we can import them as video I need to now if lumafusion can do the same ?
I have a regular external hard drive, if I get an adaptor for it, will I be able to use it on my ipad and be able to use it for editing videos on Lumufusion
It’s only for iPad with usb type c? Because I have the last version of LumaFusion on a iPad with lightning port and I can’t see that option….
You have to use the camera kit dongle for older ipads, so you have a usb and lighting port to provide the extra power.
Hey how can I take my Sony footage and upload it to hard drive without I pad ?
I love being able to edit with the external hard drive! It’s been a lifesaver as I’ve slowly filled up my iPad storage. Do you have an advice on cleaning up Lumafusion files to free up more space?
That would be useful. There’s a clean up option within the app but a review of how to use that would be really helpful.
Hey yes good shout, there is a cleanup function within Lumafusion so I might create a tutorial on how to use that.
Agreed…this would be a very popular video…I think we’re all in that situation.
Cheap Ipad 9 can do it?
can we do it with sd card only?
I would like to save a finished video to a usb flash drive to give to a friend, how do you do that?
Does this external drive editing work as smoothly on a 2018 or 2020 iPad Pro?
Or is the editing more jerky on the older 2018 or 2020 Pro?
Hi, my lumafusion doesn’t have external editing option. I using ipad 2018 gen 3. Its not working for my ipad? My ssd already reading to ipad, but it say still need copy files from ssd to internal ipad memory. What should i do? Thanks in advance
Same here, I don’t see the option 😅I hope we don’t have to buy a new iPad Pro
Great video, thank you. I have a question though, my LumaFusion doesn’t have an option to add ‘Files’ to the export section. I can’t find any setting that may enable it.
You're welcome!
Hey, I have the exact same problem with this! did you ever solve it?
@@user-jn3sm1wb1e unfortunately no, I’ve ended up using different software.
Great video, however files does not appear when I go to add/edit destination, as it appears on yours.
Let me check
Nice vid : is it possible to have LumaFusion save the project to the external drive as well rather than on the internal iPad storage
Hey Bill yes its now possible to keep the footage on the external drive now. Handy for iPads with smaller storage
This is an absolute game changer. Does it work on the iPad Pro 2018 or is it necessary to have the 2021 model with the M1 chip ?
Hey yes this works on the 2018 model too! (Mine is the 2018 👍)
With the hard drive connected to your iPad aren’t you still supposed to be able to upload your edit to CZcams through the iPad?
I always use Samsung TT external with my laptop to editing video easy fast.
Nice!
Can we use ssd on iPad Air 4 , foe external video editing ?
You have to use the camera kit dongle for older ipads, so you have a usb and lighting port to provide the extra power.
el video esta cortado, no permite exportar al disco, solo trabajar sobre el, al exportar carga pero no refleja la exportacion
This doesn’t work for me at all … I I can do a project on it and look at it and render it and then when I come back to open it again to make changes to files and not recognize even though the external hard drive show up in the file manager any suggestions, I have a about 25 projects going and it’s causing me a huge problem
Files won’t show up in the export window when I want to export to external drive
File sources is not available on my device. It’s saving but not anywhere
Same, the file option does come up for me, did you find a solution?
I have an iPad Air 2 there is no option to turn on, thought that was coming in iOS 15
Hey I think the iPad Air does not support it (or do you have the most recent iPad Air)
iPad Air 2 lightning isn’t fast enough only usb c will work, excluding most iPads
When I import footage from my Sandusky into my project it works fine but the footage freezes after I disconnect the drive. What am I doing wrong?
Hi, when you're editing from an external drive the drive has to be connected at all times, it can't be disconnected. Hope this helps! Thank you.
It takes a while to export to the SDD, are there any charger and SDD adapters for the ipad?
If you get the apple keyboard it has a second port you can charge from
What happens if you open a project without the drive attached?
Hey Liam it loads the project but tells you will need to connect the drive 👍
It tells you to connect the drive and press refresh only for LumaFusion to not recognize the hard drive plugged in but can clearly see its connected in my files app located on the newest iPad promavailable
Is normal HDD possible?
Yes!
Is it called "Linked Folders" now? I can see "Files"
Still not possible on Android
Wallet saver.
Great to hear!
LumaFusion really needs raw video support.
You should mention that it doesn’t work with lightning connector
Hey I think you can grab a lighting to USB adapter for the older ipads 👍
LumaTouch says lightning not fast enough, does not load option into preference
e
False your paid to say this, it doesn’t work
It does work. Follow the video
Save yourself a lot of time and hassle this feature is useless. You can not work off the hard drive. If you do you will be left with useless projects when LumaFusion doesn’t recognize your hard drive plugged in
You can edit off a hard drive we do it every time we edit. You need to update Lumafusion and Turn on ‘Edit from External drive’ in settings. Hope this helps
