      Yeh cammer was more focussed on the phone call than surroundings. I have a small amount of sympathy, but it was his fault and I'm sure insurance will see it that way as well.

      I always indicate right if I pull in for oncoming traffic so everyone knows... they're not confirmation-of-what-you're-doing - they're signalling-your-intention. Also, driving just isn't a suitable divided-attention activity.

      @eoftruth9797 love to see you explain how a person is any less likely to use their phone if they have a different device that frees up the phone's use from navigation 😂or how you explain how talking on a hands free call is any different to talking to a passenger, or are you suggesting talking at all in your car should now be banned too?

    • @mgprewett
      @mgprewett Před 2 měsíci

      @4165Using a hands-free phone does not significantly reduce the risk compared with holding a phone; various pieces of research indicate tat you are 400% more likely to crash compared with not using a phone. It has been argued that talking on a phone is no different to talking to a passenger. However, research has found drivers talking to passengers are less at risk than drivers on phones; it is theorised by researchers that conversations with passengers are modulated because both the driver and passengers can see what is happening on the road [5].

      If you can identify the cause, was it truly an "accident?" Describe to me a traffic incident and I'll tell you who could have avoided it and how, and why it doesn't qualify for that implication of "accidental." Inattentiveness and impatience are the biggest two, but there's also "the city should have cleared the streets better" and such like. It's almost never an actual accident.

    • @darthkek1953
      @darthkek1953 Před 2 měsíci

      @@mattia4165 If a passenger is distracting you then you shouldn't drive with them. But it is the case a phone call is more distracting. If the other person cannot see you it was found to increase the accident rate by 3x. Passengers in cars adjust their conversation to the conditions, and drivers temper their responses knowing the passenger is 'in the same boat' as it were. And conversation tend to be slower (fewer words and concepts per minute). But in a BT phonecall there is a denser information transfer, a desire to "keep the ball rolling" and it becomes a dominant cognitive task rather than a secondary one. This is what the studies have found, to be they are plausible.

      Yes, it does make an enormous difference as ample research into the subject has shown. A passanger in a car has awareness of what's happening, and will shut up when they see the driver dealing with a hazard rather than chunner on, distracting them.
      If you doubt this watch the countless CZcams clips where the person on the phone doesn't even know an accident has occurred, compared to the reactions of vehicle occupants who anticipate accidents even when they don't occur.

      @darthkek1953 Před 2 měsíci

      The Highway Code says not to move out of the way, and people have been prosecuted for doing so, and that lights and sirens mean the emergency vehicle MUST GIVE WAY at red traffic lights. It never gives them "right of way."

    • @YorkshireBeanie
      @YorkshireBeanie Před 2 měsíci +1

      Actually. depends on the situation. As someone who works for YAS i agree the maneuvre is abit piss poor and god knows why they've done it. as training focus's on "Advanced driving" IE Looking / planning far ahead.
      Training i presume has slight variants depending on course and trainer, its changed over the years, when i did it emergency driving was a 3 week course (D1/D2 emergency ambulance driving) and now i believe its a 4 week course.
      I was taught to hang back at junctions, depending on the junction sometimes switch emergency systems off. however you always get some people wanting to "Help out" by going through the red, and in that case ill switch everything on and sirens included to give them a littlebit of protection so other cars arent thinking "Why the fuck is he going through a red"
