I didn't hit him per sé, just used a self-defense technique called the two handed push off. When the police arrived, he kept bleating that he wasn't a trained soldier, (I was) and the police called him a bully and told him that he had picked a fight with the wrong person. People make mistakes and instead of being helpful these idiots compound the problem. The one way scenario: It was obvious the old boy had made a mistake coming down the one way the wrong way but the dashcam driver, instead of stopping short to allow the old boy to use the gaps to turn around, has to drive right up to him and force him to reverse. He then seemingly revels in his holier than thou attitude with "Dashcam off to police" and hopes the old boy gets his licence revoked. He needs to read The Water Babies.

    • @-A-lm5xb
      @-A-lm5xb Před 8 měsíci +6

@secondsofyourlife445 You're kidding, right? British roads are terribly designed in many circumstances (I don't even know where to start), and I've been driving them in all sorts of vehicles for 45 years.
I totally agree that lack of education on the roads is a lot to do with the problems, especially in towns. How many times have you driven down a narrow street and the woman coming the other way just keeps on coming until she has nowhere else to go?
How many times do you have to brake hard because somebody has just swung into the junction you're approaching and cut the corner?
How many times do people pull out on you and think it's your fault for not letting them out?
How many times have you been stuck in a line of slow moving traffic on a long trip because there's a slow moving vehicle at the front of the queue and everybody is terrified of overtaking because nobody knows how to overtake safely any more (or do it at all)?
How many times has a bus stopped and the car behind stops behind it, stuck out on the middle of the road so nobody else can get through even though nothing is coming the other way, because for reasons only they can understand they didn't know that a bus with a left indicator likely means the bus is about to stop?
Or drivers stopping and holding up dozens of cars behind them to let one car out?
Or stopping at Give Ways and roundabouts when you can clearly see, even from behind them, that there is no other car around for miles? I could go on all night, but it's all bad driving that nobody seems to care about, least of all the authorities.
The problem is we have now become TOO safety obsessed, particularly where speed is concerned. Driving standards have fallen because nobody knows how to overtake safely any more, or how to use lanes on a motorway, or a dual carraigeway, when to pull over and whose right of way it is on a narrow street and so on, and so on. The result is you get tired and frustrated drivers, sick and tired of having to waste an hour to get across town not just because of the road design, traffic light and so on, but by poor drivers bobbing along at 15mph without a care in the world, totally oblivious of what's behind them?
The problem is the government don't care. Police are instructed to use technology to catch speeding drivers which is responsible for a small percentage of bad accidents, while councils spend millions to catch people in otherwise empty bus lanes and parking on double yellows because they have literally painted them everywhere so there's nowhere else to go, while all the real bad driving issues are ignored almost completely. The main reason for this is they don't lose money for a minor, low speed accident. As long as nobody gets hurt they don't care about everybody's cars getting smashed up, and although it may seem commendable to be so concerned about public safety on the surface, the reality is it's all about the money. We're now at the current situation because a lot of drivers are sick of being penalised and held back for no apparent reason, and are now just so fed up of it that they're past caring and just doing their own thing, hence all the poor driving.

As for his argument about the cammer not moving to lane 2 fast enough... that argument is bollocks of the top order. Cop basically saying that cammer should have cut him up - which would actually have deserved pulling over... and due to the erratic driving of the cop (accelerating to overtake someone on the left) definitely not safe to do. The way insurance cases are covered here when a cyclists runs into a collision with a car driver is that the car driver is typically considered at fault by reasoning with the idea that the cyclist is the more vulnerable road user there.

But then further on, the Merc pulls into the left lane then decides he wants to go back to the right for no apparent reason (right indicator on), not sure if he was trying to goad the truck driver or not but if he was wanting to turn right there why did he pull into the left lane? Not handled well by either driver but doesn't make sense to argue with a 20 ton truck.

0:30 When will drivers realise that pedestrians have priority, this driver had plenty of time to see what was happening and even though the pedestrian was crossing against the lights, the driver should have given priority by slowing down. the remaining pedestrians were obeying the light and waiting. 0:32 So the cam driver just drives on irrespective of the possibility that the van driver might have been injured. This happens so often in this type of video, why have drivers become so selfish? 5:07 Approaching a roundabout, whether light controlled or not needs far more caution than this cam driver showed, the collision was his/her fault , drivers have to be aware that things happen suddenly at these junctions and they need to approach with even more care than normal. This happened to me during a lesson when my pupil 'panic braked and there was a rear end collision, the driver who ran into the back of me lost his case -- even though he was a solicitor! In this case the cam driver should have been aware of the light and ASSUMED that the vehicle in front would stop, poor anticipation. 5:30 How did they not see each other, mainly because the idiot in the red car decided to take a chance and emerge into a gap that wasn't safe, distracting both drivers R 308 BKV driving without due care and attention. The other two should have slowed down to avoid the danger. 15:04 We all feel like doing it at times, chasing a driver we think has offended us! In this case the 'chase' was totally unjustified, dangerous and close to reckless driving! Stupid is a way of life for some people. 19:15 This is one of the worst mistakes a driver can make; why not let the other driver in?? Surely half a second does not matter even in today's rush? Having an idiot in front of you where you can see him is better than worrying what he is doing behind you, (for the sake of woke or she). 22:20 This looks very much like a version of 'crash for cash, taking advantage of an "impatient" BMW driver, the crasher deliberately rolls into the BMW. Of course I could be wrong, the Juke driver might have been asleep, on the phone or in a trance. 23:05 It is never understandable or justifiable to brake check absolutely never the idiot in the Jaguar could have killed several people in a fit of pique.23:50 It is amazing how many drivers think that hazard warning lights are there to stop you being fined for dangerous or thoughtless parking.28:10 In today's heavy traffic conditions it is not a good idea to be Mr or Mrs polite and stop on a main road to allow half a dozen drivers out, the position here is a good example of what can happen, it causes confusion and accidents. certainly, if you are in a queue in the main road and you have a gap in front, allowing one driver to escape the junction is fine but it is not the driver's responsibility to allow a whole street to empty. In this case the box junction was an extra consideration but there was space for a vehicle on the other side so the exit was clear. 34;49 while the speed limits (crazily) do not apply to cyclists , they can be charged with “Dangerous cycling” in which case a fine can be issued. Adult cyclist should bear number plates and hold certificates of insurance in my opinion, 2021 in the UK 4,353 people were injured by cyclists, 111 of them died the victims in most cases could not receive compensation because no insurance cover was in force. In the case shown in the video, however, the police driver was entirely at fault and the allegation that the cyclist accelerated made the officer look an even bigger fool. 36:19 You don't have to be a plonker to driver an LGV but it helps if you have to plead insanity! 40:53 If there was any justice, this clip should be presented to the police, resulting in the revocation of the van driver's licence -- disgusting driving.49:42 This is an illustration of the oldest road equation in the world, one idiot plus one idiot equals two idiots. The Merc driver was equally at fault for taking up the challenge from the Biffa Bonehead. 53:08 So, he takes the time to turn round and follow another driver to remonstrate with him, explain that he was going to the aid of his daughter, that's why he was on the 'phone, his daughter's accident could easily have been caused by Mr Richard Kedd, also on his 'phone. Sometimes you see more intelligent actions from a lobotomised frog. 56:31 So you endanger your children to prove a point one idiot plus one arrogant idiot equals two and half idiots.

32:24 The cyclist came through the Wellington Arch and ignored the sign to the left "Cyclists use crossing", so he crossed Apsley Way in the wrong place and was not using the designated cycle path on the pavement which passes to the left of the pylons of the Commonwealth Memorial Gate. Had he done that (like other cycles we see coming towards him) he wouldn't have been in a position for the police van to pull out in front of him.

35:01 As per the Highway Code, informed by the Road Traffic Act 1988 section 36 , cyclists 'must obey all traffic signs and traffic light signals' meaning if there is a signed speed limit, cyclists have to obey that sign. If there is no sign showing the speed limit then there is no sign for the cyclist to obey and thus there is no speed limit for them, technically. As there is a clearly signed 20mph speed limit on that road, then the cammer is required to keep to that limit the same as every other road user. The cammer needs to check their highway code as their comment is a clear indication that they, not the police officer, are the one not up to speed with cycling law...

@@rb5174 Ah, yet another cyclist who thinks wrong things about the road and their obligations when cycling. I quoted the highway code to back up my post, cyclists MUST obey all traffic signs and traffic light signals. A speed limit sign is a traffic sign under the law. I bet you can't find the part in the highway code that says cyclists don't have to obey signed speed limits. Quote it if you can. I know you can't though. You''ll only be able to find incorrect websites that say that, and unfortunately for you, third party websites are not legally binding under the law. If you look at the actual legislature, you'll find it is indeed true.
The rule is Rule 69 in the Highway Code within Rules for cyclists (59 to 82)
You MUST obey all traffic signs and traffic light signals.
This is, of course, backed up by legislation. When the word MUST is used it is a law you MUST obey, unlike when they use the word SHOULD.
I just checked the relevent legislation, and the posted 20mph limit is indeed legally a sign under the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016 (if you have trouble finding which bit, it's PART 2 : Signs and road markings indicating speed limits)
As such, cyclists have to obey a posted speed limit as it is legally a 'traffic sign'.
Find the exception in legislation and post it. If you do I'll gladly accept that you are right, but just posting what you did just shows you are wrong, yet baselessly asserting.

You are right, cyclists are to obey road signs and in this case the limit was 20mph. I went ahead and measured the distance from when the cyclist touched the red line up until the first stone pillar, turns out ~62 metres in 7secs works out to be 9 m/s or pretty much bang on 20mph... All that aside, imo the police van pulled out in an unsafe manner, if a car did that to a police biker the car would've been stopped.. either way it could've been dealt with in a much better way for both parties.

We don't see what happened a few yards before the junction, so blame is hard to attribute. Maybe the driver was impatient with the cycle in the car lane, maybe the cycle swerved into the car. Either way, if the cycle was cycling in the cycle lane, that accident would not have happened.
