#AKK #DualAntenna #VTX - Věda a technologie
I forgot to add the photo that shows how the stock AKK antennas were mounted on my drone: ibb.co/W0R2NBG
It might look like I didn't push the VTX to it's limits, however I got much more interference on my goggles than it shows on the video while recording the footage using the Power Play DVR.
Thanks for the clarification! Was wondering why you were turning around so early!
I can see it being very useful for long range one in the read top of the quad one in the front bottom
My guess this would only help in a high multi path area... ? I would ask to see a video flying inside an arena/warehouse.. and test it against a single antenna one or fly it as configured with one.
Please do another video testing this in different environments.
Thanks, I will try to test it in a multipath environment.
If they send on the same frequency you will have a lot of signal cancellations and the rhcp and lhcp added together will result in a linear polarized signal... The concept doesn't make sense.
I thought the same thing. I'll bet an Aomway cloverleaf antenna on a cheap AKK vtx will outreach this setup.
If they're offset by 90 degrees they'll never see each other
@@briandoesathing3478 Only if the antennas are ideal. They are all not. Thus you will have interference. And it breaks the basic idea why we use CP signals --> to suppress reflected rf.
Either they have a new kind of physics at AKK or it is nonsense.
You're absolutely right. For this to work, you'd need to separate the two omnis at larger distance much larger than the wavelength corresponding to 5.8GHz so that they incoherently mix. And yeah, omnis are never ideal, you'll get weird blind spots.. I don't know. As a physicist, I'm kind of skeptic. Perhaps, the antennas are finely tuned and optimized. The only next level advantage I can get from this is if we, phase each each antenna accordingly. It would be possible to direct the emission by beam shaping to the receiver (us with our diversity receiver). Our wifi and phone networks already do this. It shouldn't be hard to do this. It would just be mainstream rf/microwave technology that already exists applied to our hobby. This would change the way we approach long range flights drastically. DJI does the same with their industrial drones. The do some sort of beam shaping by phasing multiple antennas on their new Matric 300RTK. It requires two way communication, to ping each others' location.. Hmmm... While typing this, maybe this a good startup idea. hahaha Then again, DJI will probably eventually do this. I'm pretty sure they do the same with their digital FPV system.
@@ociroid
The beam shaping for quads would be difficult due to the rapid change in rotation. I think all the heavy lifting needs to be done on the receiver end. Better to have a tracking ground station, but that's an extra tripod and cord.
Hey Gal, I think this dual antenna, broadcasting both RHCP and LHCP would shine better if you'd have the same setup in the goggles, and probably in an environment with many more obstacles like trees and concrete.
I think this setup would be better picking up both the mirrored and unmirrored signal
Thanks Uria. I've tested it in an open area using LHCP and RHCP on the VRX without a great success. I might test this VTX again in a multi-path environment but I can't promise that it will happen.
A comparison in flight with AKK's other 20x20 VTXs would be interesting. The FX3 ultimate and the A20 come to mind.
Thanks. Eventually I will come up with a good method to compare VTXs.
Great video dude keep it up 💥✨
Thanks, I appreciate it :-)
Hi Gal, what do you think, better or not ? 🧐
Not sure if it's better than a standard VTX.
@@KremerFPV With a receiver with two antenna (diversity) ?
Gday Gal, very awsome vtx, great flying, very cool review mate.👍🛸
Thanks mate!
Hi Gal. After seing your video , i have something to come in my mind.. Do you think that DJI Air Unit works on two different power like AKK or there's two times the same power.
Hi there. I do think that it works with different power outputs but I need to get another ImmersionRC RF meter to confirm it.
Will there be a significant improvement if both is rchp or lchp? Has testing been done if it improves punch trhu trees wall from using a single antenna?
I didn't notice a significant improvement when testing it outdoors. It might work better in a multipath environment but I have yet to test it in this environment and I doubt that I ever will, sorry.
Did I miss something, or did you not fly it with the antennas it comes with? I would have liked to see how it performs stock. Guy, why would they use a LHCP & a RHCP antenna and not two of the same?
Thanks for the tests! 😎 🤘
Yeah im interested in knowing if 2 right or 2 left or 1 of each.
@@argyleskyfpv461 👍... If the antennas it comes with are good, it's a pretty decent deal! 😎 🤘
Please see my pinned comment buddy :-)
I don't want to call this a scam but there are not two independent RF chips on this thing. so they presumably just parallel two antennas? Doesn't cut this the impedence in half despite doing other weird things? I don't quite get what AKK is trying here.
Great video as always....🙂🙂🙂 Huge thumbs up from me.
Interesting idea, I'm actually surprised it hasn't been done before?
As their is one rh and one lh on the vtx then I presume on our diversity receivers we'd mirror this? One rh and one lh on our goggles.
Thanks! I actually tested LHCP and RHCP antennas on the goggles and the result (as shown in my video) wasn't good.
@@KremerFPV My first DJI goggles arrived yesterday. Will be a week or two until I try the digital still awaiting parts to build vista in. Used it for first time last night on analogue using Eachine Pro58. The Receiver is surprisingly good!
@@gmivisualsjason3729 That's exciting! Let me know how it's like after trying digital for the first time ;-)
I always wondered about this. We have a diversity reciever. Why not 2 antennas on your vtx. Great review.
Thanks!
Because both antennas don't work at the same time in Diversity RC. Only the antenna that has the higher gain at that moment works.
How hard is it to install in a 3 inch quad? Which quad did you install it on?
Shouldn't be hard. I used it on the Mr Croc. 5" frame (see my pinned comment).
What camera should I buy fix wing ?
There are many options out there...
@@KremerFPV Geez, there are people out there like me who are noobs and would like some suggestions. I have a fixed wing Bix3 and also want to fpv. What do you suggest for 1km range?
@@a.k.3659 1KM is not that far and you can get there easily even on 25mW, especially when using a wing. This is a budget friendly option: czcams.com/video/R1WlCMTOLhk/video.html
Rush VTXs are also great and worth the extra money spent.
would you recomend this on 2024 as a 700mw single antenna vtx?
Well I believe that there are better options out there. Check out RushFPV's VTXs.
@@KremerFPV thank you 🤗
That's a really interesting concept! Fantastic review and flying, Gal! 😃
Maybe this system could have better RF performance in bandos and so on? Who knows...
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks Mario. That's a good question. I hope I will be able to test it out again. Take care and stay safe!
Hi Gal, your osd in this video, seem not a cross sign. This is happen to me.. Do you know why?
update the fonds in betaflight osd.
Update the fonts on your flight controller. Make sure to power up your drone first.
Can I put that in my fix wing ?
Sure
Using lhcp and rhcp makes no sense.
Using 2 rhcp or 2 lhcp antenes in a 90 degree orientation do make sense.
I want one!
Time to hit the CAD for some TPU holders. Who will be 1st to post one on Thingiverse?
Nice video my friend 👌
Thanks Nuno!
Can anyone explain to me what this test about. Range test for fpv or battery test or something else.
This is a test for a double antenna vtx. The test was done with two different antenna on the goggles.
Sorry if it wasn't clear Alex :-)
I was testing a new VTX that has two antennas. Usually a "normal" VTX is only using a single one.
How can you get that arrow on the screen?
Once you install and configure a GPS you can use it. czcams.com/video/YQeOmeMGpvE/video.html
Awesome 👍😊👍
I think that a dual VTX is not a bad idea, but I think it would be much better if one were RHCP and the other Patch, or LHCP and Patch or 2 LHCP or 2 RHCPdiferent orientation and not RHCP / LHCP like this VTX AKK does not help much, besides the design of the orientation of the antennas as you know is also important.Thxs for you great video.
If you put a patch antenna and you turn or pitch. You will totally lose your video. For patch you need a vtx with at least 3 or 4 patch antenna with high angle.
jmc jmc Thxs for you answer! 👍
Look like a Air Unit kkkkk nice video~👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤩
looks like it's just added weight instead of better performance
Exactly.
You could have gone even farther especially with the 400mw option! Amazing innovation from AKK that I can already see benefit in many occasions!
Please see my pinned comment.
Dope
New era would be HD like the dji air unit or caddx vista. This is old shit with two antennas that doesn‘t make sense at all. 🤣
Can u use a LR antenna for one
You mean LHCP and RHCP antennas?
I tried the combination and it didn't work well.
@@KremerFPV I mean a long-range and pogota
@@makesomemore_ well you can try. I haven't tested it.
@@KremerFPV thanks
So your conclusion? Just a PR stunt to have two antennas?
Patrick Barry
Yeah, i also asked AKK about that in their FB channel, but they claimed a higher output power. But they measured with another antenna.
I think that I said it - I don't see (for now) an advantage in using this VTX over a standard one.
Wao. Very good brot
Thanks!
1st !!
Thanks for the video
My pleasure :-)
Marketing..to look like DJIs
Sleeping Bear that’s all that is. Still the same analog.
Well, let's see. Clearly this is not any kind of diversity vtx. The fact that when you have two antennas connected, the power is reduced to half on each, compared when you only have one antena connected, is proof of this. So, flying in an open space, if the receiver has RHCP antennas, all the LHCP signal will be rejected, and you're effectively with a vtx at half the power for the reasons above. In an open space, if the receiver has also a RHCP and a LHCP antenna, as you won't get any signal bounce on walls, you're effectively getting the same signal as a standard transmitter with one antenna. This is pointless but does not hinder your experience, the problems starts if there are signal reflections. In this case, for example, if you have RHCP antennas in your receiver, the LHCP part of the signal thats is being transmitted when bouncing back will turn into RHCP (bounce backs inverse the rotation), and this delayed signal will be all absorbed by the RHCP antenna! This is the kind of signal you don't want to get and the reason why we use polarised antennas in the first place (to reject bounce backs)! If you use both RHCP and LHcP in your receiver (similar to the transmitter), you'll absorb even more noise, and signal degradation will be worse! This reminds me of a certain well known brand that made a single antenna that was both RHCP and LHCP. Needless to say it was a total disaster. But, as all this is just theory and I might be wrong, I would like to see tests of the situations I mentioned in a space with a lot of reflections, and compare it to a perfectly normal vtx that only uses one circular polarised antenna, and both vtx at the same advertised power. Test at more than one power level. Prove me wrong please...
Thanks Bruno. Your thorough explanation explains why I got worse video when using LHCP and RHCP antennas on my RX.
I will try to test it in a multipath environment but I can't promise if / when it will happen.
That's easy. New Era = New Laws of Physics 😀
wow diversity vtx..thats a nice innovation for analog
Honestly...this product is gonna flop. Diversity with two identical polarized antennas would make sense...two different antennas is just a bad idea.
