  • Hey guys, in this video I am using a Charvel Model 5A with EMG JH bridge pickup in Standard E tuning, with RADAR(Carvin Legacy IR)as the cabinet section.
So signal chain is guitar, 017 preamp, Radar, then to my Apogee Duet audio interface and to Logic Pro X.
No post processing is applied, just raw sound.
I really like this preamp a lot.

I've been interested in the 017 for a while, your demo is perfect! I used to have the 008 based on the Mark III, but I found the gain wasn't really right. This one seems to be more in line with the Mark amps, but I noticed you used active pickups. In your opinion, is the gain still tight/heavy enough for metal without a boost pedal, with passive pickups? I know it all depends on the individual guitar/pickup, but I figure it would be worth asking

I think it depends on which passive pickup used, but in general passive would just work fine. The 017 is tight enough for me.

Hello. I want to buy the Carvin IR that you use in most of your videos. Which one is yours exactly?... Thank you.
