- The Mooer Preamp 017 Cali MkIV is insanely close to the Mark IV Channel of the Mesa Boogie Mark V. Let me know what you think?

the demonstrated IRs should work with any other device as well. the preamp models of the Mooer GE300, preamp xw and other products are probably the same So the results you're getting should be similar.

Wow! That sounded amazingly similar! Thanks for the useful video!
Damn, I'm just getting into the preamp rabitt hole and this is amazing. I'm considering going amp-less.
Cool video. Sounded great and easy to understand. Well done!
Excelente demostración
Impressive that they would be so close to each other! I may look out for that one now. btw, could you do a comparison between a mooer cali MKIII and the original or the Duel Rectifier vs Mooer's version...?
Damn, they have at least 3 Mesa Boogie preamps...
Wonder which one has the best sounding cleans. The cleans of the MK III are described as more "open", but who knows if thats also the case with the pedal.
I love the sound of the Mooer! Of course a real Mesa Boogie Mark series would be sick as hell but since I'm on a budget right now I've been looking into these Micro Preamps again. I used to have a Cali Mk 3 but got rid of it because the gain wasn't right. This video sounds close, but in your experience is the 017 tight enough for metal without an additional boost? Not looking for crazy gain, but stuff like Metallica would be perfect
I think it heavily depends on the IR you're using. The build in IR sounds somewhat dull, with an IR loader like the two notes cab m you will get very good results. (The cab m also features a power amp sim and advanced EQ possibilities)
I'm sure the Cali mk 3 can also sound good if combined with a better IR .
Do you think that will sound good in front or on the loop of a real amp? Great video
It sounds killer in the FX loop return. Tested on a Diezel Einstein and Mesa Mark V. The power amp does not make a huge difference in sound. The cabinet is more important to the sound. Feeding this into a fender twin will probably sound very different due to the speaker.
How do you switch from one to the other because the switch is flawless while you play
As described o recorded the playing you're seeing on a looper. Then I used this signal to record the tracks on the Mooer and the real amplifier afterwards. In the video you can see both tracks in cubase in the bottom of the video. I cut the two tracks so that you only hear one track at a time.
You activate de graphic eq o mesa boogie?
EQ is active and setup as shown in the video
You’re using the Mark V DI with an IR?? 🤦♂️ Mark Vs normally sound way better than this, not to mention how many sounds you can get out of this amp that the Mooer can’t do. This video is deceiving.
Everyone knows that the mark amp series is the pinacle of the Mesa product portfolio. The amount of Sound you get from these amps is excessive. Especially the 5 band EQ is a string tone shaping tool. I see the moor of a snapshot of a specific mark IV sound. It does not offer the whole variety of a real amp. But the gain structure is so close that those two devices can sound very similar in a specific setting and a good IR. If you're looking for that kind of sound the mooer is a steal deal. I use it regularly for jamming at home to avoid tube wear of. Also it could be a nice backup if your amp breaks down on a gig 😉
agreed. The video is deceiving as the real amp sounds cheap here. One should compare with the best sounds available both the amp and the pedal, here they made the amp sound low quality with IR's and eq's.
mooer sound BETTER LOL
