@ Ty Dixon- lol, I think it was more of Shannon's insecurities being around Tony. Everyone praises Tony more than Shannon as being one of the greatest tight ends ever. When Shannon started taking his jabs at Tony, Skip just came to defend Tony which was funny (as he took some shots at Shannon- like what he ever contributed to his Superbowl wins- lol, a major burn). Still, Shannon knew how to stand his ground and he just keeps coming at you. When Tony thought he could get one in towards the end about the tally for Shannon saying Skip and his desperation for attention (which was a pretty good burn), Shannon comes right back and nails him regarding him dyeing his hair. lol, which made even Tony laugh. So I like that type of debate background :)

I'm French, and we ain't got much NFL going on here.. I've been watching sports talk shows for 10years , to listen to news on Basketball.. I was tired of being left behind when they were mentioning football.. so I started to pick an interest about 3 months ago . To that point, in knee couples famous names, like Brady, Manning, Michael Vick, etc.. didn't even know Shannon and Cris Carter were former player...
3 months later, I have come to love the game so much, that I know all the back stories..

I was at the no punt playoff game. I was in the player's parking lot when Gonzalez came out. He gave his momma a hug and limped to his car. He knew it was his last chance at a SB with the Chiefs. You could feel the sadness.

Yes Shannon played in a run heavy era and changed the mood for a tight end. He broke records and was prolific. But each time he won Championships he had an amazing supporting cast. The Broncos did have a HoF quarterback throwing him the ball and many other players to take the heat of the defenses. Sharpe made amazing catches, some contested, but many of them if you watch his highlights he was wide open because others were there to take the heat. Same thing for that Ravens team of 2000. Monstrous Defense that was lights out and Jamal Lewis running well. Tony Gonzalez was in a more pass heavy league and was the main threat of the KC Chiefs. He lead the team in receiving 8 TIMES. Like come on bro. And even did it again for the Falcons.

Y'all are forgetting something. Tony played a lot more in the era of passing. He came in the league in 1997. Shannon came in 1990z when the league was still all about running. Shannon broke that mold. The first TE to get over 10,000 yards ever, and he lead all TE in major categories when he retired. If Shannon played in pass happy league in his prime, it wouldn't be close who is the greatest. Tony was an absolute beast though.
