It was unfair. Tony was not only the best tight end in the game, but he also never got hurt and never made a mistake. 2 missed games and 2 fumbles in 17 years? That's insane!
No kidding! If you think about it, he got one of those fumbles back with the blocked punt and recovery lol! What a stud!
Never made a mistake then proceeds to list mistakes…
@@MrSPIDEY21 it’s just two fumbles in 17 years lol
It was unfair that he never got a superbowl at least once
Holy shit, man’s a workhorse
The way he caught the ball while sitting down 😂😂😂😂
I had forgotten about that play 😂😂😂
I didn't even know that happened
Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, lol. Not that Tony G needed any luck
Facts yo
🐐
I remember when broncos used to put their best corner champ Bailey on Gonzalez
Tony G and now kelce. Us chiefs fans are spoiled at TE....also imagine a young Tony G with mahomes
Too much 💯
PetroFor3 Kelce’s a champ baby!!!
that's so true
They’re very different players TBH. Kelce is a phenomenal TE tho
fr we have been spoiled and the future is set for us
2:02 The ball LITERALLY just fell into his arms, that has to be the best catch I've ever seen
Bro I was about to drop that time stamp, was absolutely sick. Never seen that play before you'd think it'd have as much attention as the Antonio Freeman MNF catch
He LITERALLY put his hands out 4 it
How is that the best catch you've ever seen? It was literally just luck, he didn't even have to do anything but put his arms out and let it drop into his hands.
Notice how he adjusted his feet as it fell into his hands lol 100 field awareness lol
Gonzalez and Gates were so good at getting the ball in traffic, with such great body control.
julius peppers played hoops also
Gates was sooo big and crafty 💯
Did not expect to see a SPECIAL TEAMS highlight. TE GOAT.
Gronk
@greysonG10 Gronk fanboy go somewhere else with that bs opinion. I still got Tony and tbh Kelce is ahead if Gronk now. The only thing you got for Gronk is rings which is a team accomplishment.
@@greysonG10He doesn't have longevity, stats, and I could argue Tony and Kelce peaks were and are better.
He was sooo good for a long time and what he singlehandily did/brought to the table to revolutionize the TE position can't be understated. and talk about the spectacular catches w/multiple defenders draped all over him, just had an endless montage tape of those plays. slam dunk easy 1st ballot HOFer.
🥺 *DEEP SIGH OF NOSTALGIA* 🥺
Back when you were able to dunk over the crossbar…
Long over due dude is a Legend and a FHOF
I know he's not the 1ST NFL guy who played and had major skills in basketball. But he was the one that really stood out by it. Every catch was like a rebound
I'm not a chief's fan but I'm a Tony Gonzalez fan. TG has done so much for the te position. He also was role model for the Latino community and NFL fanbase. Thank you Tony for all you have done. Can't wait to see you take your place in canton.
Man I'm just sad we never got another Latino Football player that played an explosive position in our times😢
@@elpatronmamba2911 Aaron Hernandez was pretty incredible. Patriots with him AND Gronk would’ve had 10 SB’s 💯
What Made This Guy So Great Was His Domination, His Longevity, And How He Changed The Tight End Position. The G.O.A.T
Gronk is
@@ryanclarke2911 stfu biased pats fan.
Nah Gronk was by far lightyears better.
@@greysonG10 Gronk probably the most overrated player ever he was phenomenal but people calling him the GOAT is overrated by a mile…dude had Brady in his prime his whole career
@@BigfatKuntWiener Lol, you're slow bro. Just because Gronk had a good QB to throw him the ball, doesn't mean he was overrated. Two of the things that made Gronk great was his blocking abilities and his YAC. I'd like to see a stat on broken tackles, and yards after contact. Because no tight end ever, was as good in either aspect. You're making excuses, plenty of the leagues great tight ends had great QBs. Sharp had Elway, Kelce has Mahomes, Gates had Brees and Rivers, Graham had Brees and Wilson. So who cares if he had Brady?
14(!!) pro-bowls is absurd
Cute...How many of those were SUPER bowls though?
Barney Fife ? He's one player
treywar25 Again, at the end of the day SB’s matter. Like when Shannon Sharpe (basically) got himself fired from CBS Sunday football after making that argument for the greatest QB’s and having a SB ring was one of the requirements or requisites...and he was seated right next to Dan Marino.
Barney Fife championships measure how good the team was, not the player
@@shermanchester68 that's the most stupidest argument I've heard especially for a tide end 😂
Getting ready for the Pats fans who have zero respect for the history of the game spamming "gronk was better".
Chris Kreager I’m a pats fan, if gronk played anywhere near the amount of time and if he wasn’t as injury prone he would have been 10x better than Gonzalez
Gronk is second all time to Gonzalez imo. With gates third and witten 4th
I think you could make the case for either. I think gronk was more dominant, he got 80 tds in 115 games (many of which he was injured pretty bad). Took González 270 to get 111. Plus gronk is essentially an extra tackle, although González could block too. Longevity, durability and consistency are important though. Both are freaks
Yeah well one had Tom Brady and one had... well, you name me 1 QB who threw to T.G.... I'll wait...
@@kasibabi6901 trent green..matt ryan..alex Smith...do u watch football or u just really wanted to know lol
One of the greatest tight ends in NFL HISTORY it sucks that he never won a superbowl
He is the greatest tight end EVER
Never even reached a Super Bowl and has only 1 playoff win...that’s worse in my opinoon
@@jonathand.9555 Thats what happens when you play for the chiefs and falcons
@@jonathand.9555 Didn't realize winning a SB let alone a playoff game is all on one player 😂
He was on the sidelines in February cheering for the Chiefs. He gave Travis Kelce a winners hug. I just wish he could have played with the current guys. He made a cute video working out in the field saying he was coming back to the Chiefs. Love the man. He made football fun to watch.
The 1 dislike was from a raider fan because Gonzalez scored like a touchdown at least everytime they face one and another.
Andy Yang I’m a raider fan but loved watching T Guns
Im a raider fan i never hated on tony he was a truly talented TE
Nah, all the dislikes are from Pats fans crying that Gronk is better.
@@brothermichael8442 Or 16 year old Kelce fans that are tired of hearing their dads tell them Tony is far greater than your new guy..
@@brothermichael8442 I hate the Patriots and gay little Brady but Gronk has always had my respect.
4:34 yo did everyone see that Denver broncos defender completely miss Trent Green it's like when you play Madden and you press X but hold down right trigger the wrong direction happens to me all the time lol
Lmao that dude was going in for the kill holy crap
😂 😂
The guard came over and got him, saved the play.
But Trent had some fkn beautiful balls in this video 💯
…and I love beautiful balls 😋
“The best ability, is AVAILABILITY.”
Shut up man, Gronk was far better than this guy.
That Guy is a true pro on and off the field he always let his play do his talking
I'm Tony Gonzalez?? University of California?
😂😂😂😂
Lmao classic 😂😂
If only this guy played now with Mahomes, the Chiefs would be even more unstoppable than they are right now
Kelce has a chance to be even better
@@slimischillin7753 Nah, Kelce more of a product of a GREAT OFFENSIVE system. He's just a big guy who ALWAYS HAPPENS to be wide open. He's definitely not as ATHLETIC or EXPLOSIVE as Tony G.
@@freddymasters2377 you’re sleep and something tells me your football knowledge is lacking. Kelce does benefit from playing in a good system with a good quarterback and coach, but you don’t just be big & magically become wide open. There’s more to his game than that & I’ve watched him his entire career here & I’ve seen his constant progression that he’s made from his first year to now. Kelce > TG. Some of the stuff was out of TG’s hands. Like he didn’t get to pick his quarterbacks or head coaches. But even as an athlete, kelce is right there with him. Maybe TG had a lil more quickness to him when he was younger but kelce has that shake that Gonzalez never had
Too soon
@@gaythugsmatter7029 not really
Great job on all of the great content keep it up the hardknocks and the highlights are amazing
Thanks!
My mother has a funny story about Tony Gonzales. I was born and raised in KCMO my whole life, and my mother has lived here for hers too. Before I was born she went to a Chief's game where there was a meet and greet afterwards. All the lines to the players were completely full, except for one guy who had nobody lining up for him. It was a rookie named Tony Gonzalez, and it just so happened that my mom was his biggest fan. She had a big poster of him, rushed over, and asked him to sign it. They talked for a little bit because nobody else was lining up for him and she remembers him saying, "I almost didn't make it. I wanted to be the running back but I wasn't fast enough." That was the first and last time the words, "Tony Gonzalez." and, "Not fast enough." Existed in the same sentence.
why did nobody want to meet a 1st round rookie?
He's open every play his route running and his footwork for his size is what made it easy for him he's one of a kind for sure never gone see a te that quick on his feet Ever again
He crushed the competition!
Man was having all pro seasons in his late 30s
My all time favorite player!
Tony Gonzalez is one of the greatest tight ends of all time, he is the NFL's all-time leader in receiving yards and receptions by a tight end, along with ranking third in overall receptions. He played 17 seasons in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons. He also had a basketball background during his playing days at University of California. He finished his NFL career with 1,325 receptions, 15,127 yards and 111 touchdowns.🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
He put up crazy numbers for a tight end had 14 pro bowls and I don't think no tight end is going to break his career catch record and yards
The iconic crossbar dunk is giving me some serious nostalgia. Thank you tony for giving us chiefs fans hope and entertainment
Bruhh so many catches in triple coverage 💪💪💪
Best TE in NFL history
This is my first-time watching Tony Gonzalez it's his B-Day today so Happy Birthday to him!!!!!!!🥳🎉🎂 01/27/23
Tony gonzalez is one of the greatest athlete of all time
Love Travis and Tony! LET'S GO CHIEFS!!!
Who's watching Tony Gonzales during quarantine in 2020 , Corona virus 😷
That moment you realize Tony was basically a #1 WR playing TE..
Tony G paved the way for guys like Witten, Gates, Gronk and Graham. Welcome to Canton.
And up and comers like Kelce, Ertz and Kittle.
Tony G
Greatest who ever lived
Caught literally everything. Kelce is great and will probably be a hall of famer but Gonzalez had hops and just caught EVERYTHING.
How dare people even mention Gronk in the same breath as Tony Gonzalez. Watching Tony throughout his whole career was an absolute treat and I was a Dolphins fan unfortunately lol
Ima a gronk fan and I agree tony g is a whole another breed
Actually, Gonzalez shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Gronk. Nice try though.
@@jqwiiiiqqirmnsnnsnnsnnsmjjrj Gronk had a dominant few years, but didn't have nearly the longevity, Gronk isn't the greatest of all time, and has already been passed in basically every category by Kelce. Pats fans need to stop deepthroating Gronk. He was great, but he wasnt ever going to be the GOAT.
2:00 wtf he was sitting as he caught that.
I knw a lot would say I'm wrong bout ths but if ATL had Tony in the Super Bowl I believe they might hve win tht game
I DISAGREE, because MATT RYAN IS AND WILL FOREVER BE A DUMB ASS. AND HIS DUMB ASS SWITCH ALWAYS TURNS ON AT THE WORST POSSIBLE TIME.
If tony played on today’s Chiefs, Pat Mahomes would have 60 TDS and a Super Bowl win
Nah he have more than 60 with Tony
the retro nerds I just have 60 because I think he’d get 10 with Pat as his QB. The only good QB he’s had in his career was Matt Ryan, IMO.
White guys with backpacks and small dicks I’m aware of that, I’m just saying how much better they’d be with 2 HOF TE’s
well they got the win at least
@PATRICK MAHOMES MVP 2020-2030 Tony is better than travis tho
Best TE ever
It's not even up for debate
Facts
God bless you guys Always keep God first
I love your vids.❤️. And also. I have ideas.
Best TE ever period
This man is unreal foreal 😂😂😂😂
I was just watching him on tv with his family. All 8s kids look different..like the rainbow family!! Gene's are crazy!!
4:33 that guy got thrown
I hear so much Gonzalez that it just doesn't seem like a word anymore
He was the finest looking TE ever to play the game.
Not only is him not having a ring an injustice, he never even got to a superbowl.
Green, Smith and Ryan as your QB...that won't happen sadly!
@@jeremybrown9611 Gonzalez never played with Alex Smith. He left KC I think a year before Smith was traded there. I assume that's the Smith you're referencing.
@@KMC5240 Yes I meant Alex Smith, guess I gotta check that, thanks!
@@jeremybrown9611 I double checked, and I was a little off myself. Gonzalez left KC in 2009. Smith joined KC in 2013.
He absolutely set the standard and paved the way for others, but even with great tight ends like Gronk and Kelce now, none on are his level. Nobody blocks as well as he did to go along with the playmaking. He was Mr. Reliable in KC for years and was my favorite player growing up as a kid. He even asked for a trade to have a shot at winning a ring and did it the right way. What more can you ask for?
Great player, he is in some episodes of NCIS
Him and Gronk are the best to ever do it. If Gronk stayed healthy he would have broke all of those records but he didn't so Tony G you're the man.
Availability is the best asset one can have
No what ifs. The fact that he couldn't was proof enough.
Tony was 1000 times better than gronk. Tony was faster , more Athletic , Tony was as strong as gronk , and he was HEATHLY. GRONK was on a better team with a better QB that's why gronk win so many ships , imagine Tony with Brady ....
Shannon's in that convo bro, some would argue that it's Tony and Shannon. I'm just saying can't have a TE convo w/o including Shannon and Gates as well!
Light Yagami Production and WINS are what matter ultimately. You want stats, go to a CPA, you want RESULTS...Get Gronk.
It’s crazy how the play at 0:53 has Mahomes-Kelce written all over it too
Tony Gonzalez was my idol growing up, I remember I was so happy when I found out he had the same birthday as me lol
He was sure hands hard to cover hard to get position on and he never fumbled.
I'm a Pats fan but TG was the GOAT of TEs. I hate he didn't get a ring before he retired.
Easily my favorite player when I was in Elementary, had his jersey which I must have worn 500 times 😛
The real best tight end ever
ye for now its not even close
Absolute monster
1:57 talk about right place right time
.. that was meant to be.
Like Tony Gonzalez
They called Rakim, "The God MC"; I call Tony Gonzalez, "The God TE", those numbers shows it, the gold jacket and bronze bust validates it
Best TE in NFL history. No debate
My dad played high school basketball with this dude
He's the Goat
Nice.......
This man did all that with Elvis Grbac, Damon Huard, and Brodie Croyle as his quarterbacks. For a good chunk of his career he had garbage QB’s, defensive head coaches, and just horrible Chiefs’ teams overall from ‘99-01, 04-09. The only really good situation for him in Kansas City was ‘02-03 when Trent Green was healthy and that offense was hot. Imagine if he had a hall of fame QB his whole career like Brady, Rogers, or Manning. You could probably go ahead and double his career numbers and there wouldn’t even be a debate about who the greatest tight end is.
Imagine him Gronk on the same team and lined up out wide. Try stopping that. You couldn’t.
That’s basically what the Pats were set for with Aaron Hernandez. They would’ve won 10 SB’s with him.
What is it with the chiefs and great tight ends. Gonzalez and now Kelce.
Best tight end in the NFL Jay Novacek of Dallas Cowboys from the early 90s
man that QB is excellent - just as good as his receiver
Trent Green was good
Tony Gonzalez one of if not the greatest TE's in NFL's History to never win a super bowl i know it sucks that he didn't get one but he was such a graceful astounding of a player in his career with Kansas City and Atlanta
Happy to see Kelce pick up after Tony.
That entire mid-2000's Chiefs offense kinda deserves its own highlight film.
Trent Green, Priest Holmes, Larry Johnson, Tony Gonzalez. You had Dante Hall returning kicks and Eddie Kennison had solid hands.
And that offensive line. Holy crap they were a brick wall to try to beat.
Will Shields and Willie Roaf. Not to forget Casey Weigamm and Brian Waters basically built the careers of those who they blocked for.
The Chiefs failed to do anything in the playoffs because their defense was so bad.
tell me about it.
I’m still mad Matt Ryan didn’t throw him the ball when he was wide open in the end zone costing them the nfc championship and his first Super Bowl appearance
Tony Gonzalez made Elvis Grbac into a 4000 yard passer and Damon Huard/Tyler Thigpen look competent.
Gronk? Without Brady, he’d be Brandon Pettigrew
Tony Gonzalez is GOAT, HE IS BOAT
the ref at 11:47 lol
Tony gonzales ie the most extrondinary tight end
Crazy how this aged I’m not even a chiefs fan but they staff know how to pick that TE position Travis Kelce is a few REC and TDs away from breaking Tony Gs Chief career record
Lowkey he put the ref on a poster LMAO @11:50
Holy shit Matt Ryan played with Tony Gonzalez... The colts qb curse continues.
Superbowl or not Tony is the best to ever play tight end in NFL history. If he's available to pick you don't pick anyone else but him. Trading him was the dumbest move the Chiefs could do, and that right there lies why he never got a SB.
Man Imagine If Tony Had Patrick and Andy Reid
If you had an all-time Kansas City offense, I don't think there is a better two-tight end combination than Tony Gonzalez and Travis Kelce. Both players are great for different reasons.
Tony played in an era where rules were different and defensive players didn't get flagged for every little thing mean during that era they were hitting harder than now and people say gronk is better of breaking tackles smh
LaDainian Tomlinson. THE JACKRABBIT
We didn't get his backstory like many other players featured in NFL Throwback. 🤔
His success is even more impressive considering how shitty most of the Chiefs quarterbacks were (besides Trent Green)
Sadly trent was the only good quarterback he had. I wish tony could have gotten an elite qb to see what he could have really brought to the table
It's like watching Aaron Hernandez but back in the late nineties
One of the best tight ends that should've won at least three rings
No he shouldn't have, he didn't even come close to winning 1 ring. How should he have won 3?
@@greysonG10 well if he had the right qb and better coaches he definitely would've won 3 because he was definitely a playmaker
2nd most receptions in NFL history
5th most reception yards in NFL history
100 TD receptions at Tight End
More receptions reception yards and touchdowns than any other TE in NFL history
TG... Do some pike pushups to roll push ups... Do some dip bar walk and turns... Do some walk on hands... Reverse planks... Like your driving and parking... Do some jumps... using a pole... to get height... Do some practice kicks using a pool ball... Leg in then kick... Jumping... 1 v 1...
