Why they hell should rings ever be a knock on any player? It takes a team damn it!
Chris O'Keeffe cause it's like scoring a 100 points in a game and not winning that's why. Stats are good but rings are great
@Almon Joseph Yeah, but in all sports, there are people who have rings that really didn't do anything special to earn them. They weren't even really good players individually, just average. But they have rings anyway because they were part of a good TEAM. Winning is great, but it doesn't fully define or determine individual ability, I'm with Chris on that one...winning is a team effort! From management, all the way down to coaches and players and sometimes a bit of luck
Almon Joseph the guy played with the Chiefs and falcons give him a break
Mad_Intalect couldn't say it better myself
+Chris “Critical” O'Keeffe Exactly. The only position where rings should be of conversation is QB. A tight end doesn't take a 7-9 team and make them 12-4. a qb can
It's hard to say the best ever, but who can deny Tony's greatness, simply the best.
“Hard to say the best ever” let’s compare their career stats: Tony G: 1,300 receptions, 15,000 yards, 111 TDs. Gronk: 600 receptions, 9,000 yards, 92 TDs. Let’s look at their awards: tony G: 15 pro bowls, 10 all-pros. Gronk: 5 pro bowls, 5 all-pros. “Hard to say the best ever” bro it’s not even close 😂
I wish Tony won a couple rings. He deserves it very much.
Travis Kelce looks like his heir apparent!
@@AmirKhan-yv8jmno lol
Without any disrespect for gronk, Tony Gonzalez deserve this rank because he gets all those stats without a quarterback in the same level as Tom Brady
fathie yanuar still had a very good Matt Ryan
Fathie Yanuar Ramada He had Matt Ryan for a bit...
@@JavierHernandez-zv4of Before Matt Ryan was considered an elite quarterback
Gronk gave tom Brady a boost. Gronk can destroy with any team. He would be taken over any receiver or anyone.
Fathie Yanuar Ramada and he played twice as many years in the league as gronk
One of my favorite players when I was growing up and still is
Clearly the best, dude's stats are better then Hof wide receivers by a large portion
James Burgess he was good but definitely not better then Shannon
Javier Woolrich Sharpe?
MizzY Moss Shannon Sharpe who had John Elway throwing him the ball. Tony Gonzalez had double digit TDs with Tyler Thigpen. No question for me that Gonzalez was better.
Large margin*
James Burgess qa
I agree its not that he was great its that he was great for sooooo long. Until the very end. He retired as still one of the best tight ends in football that last season. That's mind blowing.
2:18 did anyone else say “shut up Luke Rockhold”? I’m so glad Bisping took his soul
this man is the greatest i mean on third down he converted almost every damn time not even a joke
As a Falcons fan I'm glad we had him for as long as we did.
Imagine if Vick was his QB.
Not to mention the best part of Tony Gonzalez. He's amazing player intros.
"Can't call him number one w/o a ring on ring on his finger."
Dude this ain't basketball, Gonzo is the G.O.A.T.
Its a flawed thought-process in basketball, as well!
Trombonebone that statement lol was so idiotic he definitely is number 1
@@ellismarcelle321 But at least it makes sense to compare rings in the NBA due to how much smaller the rosters are. An NBA player can directly affect the game on offense and defense, something an NFL player cannot do.
Bisping knocked the sense out of his dumb ass
@@E3litecompany No question!
"I'm Tony Gonzalez?"
University of California?
All these people saying Gronk is the GOAT are all 13 and are the same type of people to say Odell is the best wide receiver in the NFL.
Other way around bud, Tony G isn't even a real TE. Just a bigass wide receiver.
***** Shit my dude played like one haha
Fuck you and Odell. After Gronk Retires then you will know
right ...and it helps when you have Tom Brady
Joseph aviles tony g had a run game which also helps
The greatest tight end to play the game
As a Georgia boy, Tony Gonzalez was the best tightend in the NFL in Kansas City and Atlanta.
Easy choice, no debate whatsoever. Tony is the best BY FAR
People only saying Gronk because they don't know who Tony is
Nope, even many analysts who have covered the game for decades and fans who have watched the game since before Tony was in the league acknowledge that Gronk is the best. Tony WAS the best, no doubt, but if you look at what Gronk has accomplished with many less seasons under his belt, you can't say he won't smash Tony's records. It's only a matter of time. Not to mention, Tony wasn't half the pass or run blocker that Gronk is.
Matt Centeno first of all dumbass it is true. all you patriots fans do is run your mouth about how much better your players are then others when you haven't even seen the others play. And of course they are going to say that, they themselves are caught up in current times and or just saying that to spark interest in viewers.
lets see how good gronk is without brady
Justin B28 You called him a dumbass but used then when you should've used than lol. Anyways Gronk in his first 6 seasons has better stats THAN tony did at 10. Oh and by the way Gronk missed 2 seasons worth of games
Justin B28
Haha I'm not even a Patriots fan. I'm a huge Eagles fan and always have been. That doesn't mean I can't appreciate greatness when I see it. Also, I have seen plenty of others play from different years. It is sounding more and more like you're simply a salty Patriots-hater, which weakens any validation your argument has. I am unbiased and clearly you are not. So explain to me how I'm the dumbass lol
Tony had no name QBs and still racked up monstrous stats. Gronk had Tom Brady and an already successful Patriots Roster.
Very Great Tight End!!!!
Tony Was always my favorite player when I watched Nfl as a young kid I'm old af now lol
Nice to how an athlete from a different sport weighing in.
yall are really young and ignorant if you think Gronk is better than Tony Gonzalez
I also think you have to be ignorant to think that by the end of his career gronk may be as good as tony gonzalez
Karl Budde if he stays in NE of course hes a system player
a1 a2 he is not a system player. He benefits from a system devised by a soon to be hall of fame head coach, but he is still a monster which you can see from yards after contact
Well I'm young I guess but still Gronk plays great. Think about it he had major problems with his back so he got surgery. Then arm problems. Playing against the Browns and tears his ACL and MCL and up to now plays like he has never been affected by anything. You tell me Gronk is a beast in right now if he continues to play he's for sure to surpass everyone including Tony G.
Oh and I'm pretty sure Tony G said that Gronk is one of the greatest TEs he's ever seen and thinks he could break Tony G records.
Coming back and watching this, I think kelce is coming up on this spot real quick especially due to the rings
He is number 1 at player introductions too.
Yeaaaa. The best
He had the triple crown of tight end records at the time of his retirement. Only another chiefs tight end could break his records: Travis kelce
His heir apparent lol
From a Raider fan, if you couldnt tell by my username, i agree. Gonzalez was too nice
TE is the best position in football! That's why I love the game of football because of the TE.
Andrew Warren te is like a fb
Absolute zero ...but can catch better
@@isaiahs675 bro what are you talking about? 😂 can FBs finish 5th in all of receiving yards? Bro I’m questioning your football IQ
@@Max_fb8 bro this comment was 5 years old
If everybody says “everybody forgets Tony played basketball”, did anybody actually forget? 😂
Best go to guy and best safetly blanket player for any qb
GOAT
Tony is the best TE of all time hand me then W's please
Them*
L
ChiefLuis103 W
W
imma PATS FAN I love the DUNK TOUCHDOWN MOVE.
As a Gronk fan, I have to agree. Gronk had the best season a TE ever had (2012), but Tony rarely missed a game and did it for much longer.
No doubt
Greatest ever easily
WTF Luke Rockhold is doing on this video?
OR
WTF is he saying?
Get out of here man...
after getting Ko'd he thought he was a football expert
Bro I was about to comment this but I knew someone else was thinking the same 😂😂
I feel it’s a agreement between Shannon and tony cuz rings to speak volume and he do got numbers
Tony Gonzalez never had John Elway as a QB or a RB like Terrell Davis or a defense like Baltimore had when Sharpe won his 3rd ring in 2000. Gonzalez always had mediocre QB's throwing to him until he got to Atlanta. Shannon Sharpe was great but he's not better than Tony G
The Jerry Rice of Tight Ends
? Not even close. Do not insult Rice like that. Difference is championships. The ultimate stat.
@@damonkinney7081 that BS and you know it! Championships dont show how great the player is, it shows how good the team is! Championships shouldn't even be in the question when seeing how good a player is! It's the most overrated stat of all time
Damon Kinney lol championships are team accomplishments
Chris Butler Hes a salty Pats fan, what did you think?
Hella accurate
The man dunked footballs over the goal post. how fucking bad ass is that!
I remember the first time they did this list, Gonzalez was number 6 or 5. They fixed it.
Of course it's tony Gonzalez
🐐
I’m a Patriots fan and Gonzalez IS the best TE ever. No contest. Tough and very athletic. Only missed one or two games in 17 years, that won’t happen again.
He deserves a ring. Just give him one
So many great NFL players without rings. Dan Fouts, Kellen Winslow, Wes Chandler, Charlie Joiner, Chuck Muncie, Leslie O’Neal, LaDainian Tomlinson, Philip Rivers, Dan Marino, Barry Sanders, Eric Dickerson, Randy Moss, Bruce Smith, Jim Kelly, Warren Moon, Fran Tarkenton… and I feel sorry for every one of them.
This is why Luke has been knocked out so many times since this has been released.
Lol I’m a bit late but why is he even there?
yeah, no arguing with this one...
Orextritin sharpe has 3 rings
cray 3K so? Martellus Bennett has a ring too, are you gonna try and convince anyone that he's better than Tony G?
Bryce Brooks 3 rings and great stats> slightly better stats no rings > 1 ring and shitty stats.
cray 3K Tony's stats > than Sharpe's stats. The point was rings have no business being discussed when comparing individual player feats.
Its a game decided by two diff squads. Only so much control u have if youre a wide receiver or a tight end ect. Cant control what your QB does or what your defense does. Rings is wrong way to go in this sport.
I’ll take Shannon over him. Shannon was just another level man, he was just the guy!
I’d take a look at their stats before you make that decision. 👀
barring injury, Gronk will own all the Tight End records
Shannon Sharpe.
Best te
Lol this is why ole Unc and his milds are number 2 for me
This is the only guy you can put above Gronk. Tony was a monster, my god.
I'm sorry, but I have to agree with the folks that made this list. Yes, Gronk is dominant, and has won 4 titles, but Tony literally came from a basketball background, and just smashed the position. Even went from not being able to block, to being a consistent blocker for both teams. It's not Tony's fault that he was a part of 2 poverty franchises.
One of a few jersies I have worn.
What's the name of this song or 🎵 background music 🎵 @ 2:12?
Its times to change this... gronk has 4 sb rings... how crazy was that..
Lol that doesn't mean anything. It's a team sport. Tony is clear cut #1
This Rob Gronkowski's spot now
Lol no
I feel like this list more than any other has the most people claiming each entry deserves number 1
I think that comes down to the multidimensional nature of a tight end
Size, Power, Hands, Blocking, Durability
Everyone weights these values differently and I think it leads to the discussion
When the TE use to hoop in college that the TE you want! He about to make defender look like puny humans! 😤
he's the greatest, the numbers don't lie. yea no super bowl but that's a team trophy. purely individual player he's top
anyone know the song in the last minute of the video?
My Dirty Bird Brotha!
Tony G's 2nd all time in receptions
NO WAY!!! NO 1 WITHOUT A RING!!? NO WAY!!!
Prime Gonzalez and Prime Gronk... that would be such a fun TE duo to watch
it says Flacons in the description
In my book #3 on this list should be #1. Kellen Winslow Sr. invented the concept of a tight end that could line up as a wide out!
Look at their career stats 😂 bro it’s not even close with pro bowls and all-pros either. Clearly Tony G is #1
@@Max_fb8 You must also look at the fact that Tony G played in an era with much less downfield contact allowed. Thus his guadier stats. Kellen Winslow Sr once scored 5 touchdowns in a game. Name me one other ball-catcher that accomplished that feat.
How does this channel misspell "Falcons" in the description?
Mackey, Sharpe, Gonzalez
Look in desc they spelt falcons wrong lol
Saints fan, I was gonna be pissed if it wasnt Tony lmfao.
Rings matter!!!! It show your a winner !!!!!
dont know YET one person cant carry a whole team
dont know YET it take a team learn english
Another thing that should be mentioned is the quarterbacks Gonzalez played with and still ended up being a dominant player. A lot of the other tight ends on the top 10 list played with much better quarterbacks than Gonzalez played with.
thelovebat exactly
Was number 1
Super Bowl is a team achievement. You can be the greatest Wide Receiver and never win any Playoff games i.e. Megatron.
TO and Moss is in that conversation people actually think Marvin Harrison was better cuz of his rings than those two
Gates about to pass him this season in td
Second greatest Chief of all time, behind DDT
Ty Chaney Derrick Thomas?
@@jamesyhsiao Exactly!
PM2 is the greatest Chief ever followed by Jamaal Charles,Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, Willie Roaf, Buck Buchanan, DT and Albert Lewis.
I'm a young Chiefs fan, so I didn't get to watch him play, but I can only imagine the dread Chiefs fans felt when he left, like, how do you even think of replacing this guy? and then the Chiefs draft Travis Kelce...
I forgot he played for Atlanta
My top 2 is Tony and Shannon
He was jimmy graham and Gronk combined
I hate the people who judge players on how many rings they have. It’s not like that player is the whole team...
He has the records and he is the best, but if we're basing this off rings, it's Shannon Sharpe.
Man O War
Teams win championships not players by themselves
Shannon Sharpe played with a HOF Quarterback in Elway and a HOF running back in Terrell Davis in Denver
In his tenure with the Ravens Sharpe played with all pro Running back Jamal Lewis a linebacking Corp led by HOF Ray Lewis all pro linebackers Adalius Thomas Jamie sharper and Peter Boulware as well as HOF cornerback Rod Woodson
do the greatest offensive lineman of all time
Best TEs are Gronk Winslow Gonzalez Sharpe in that order
The crazy thing is that another Chiefs took his spot as the GOAT TE
Kelce isn’t close to the player Gonzalez is. Just happens to be in the perfect system. Dude is not even close to the athlete and pass catcher that Gonzalez is
Gronk has to be greatest TE of all time
Rings don't mean squat for an individual player it's the team. Individual it's stats
Pretty sure mr Kelce is coming for this spot soon...nothing against Tony, cuz dude was a beast. But watch kelce take the thrown when it's all said n done!
If only Gonzalez could've had a ring
It's a damn shame he never got at least one Superbowl ring 😥
It is gronk
what about jeremy shockeyyy?
Todd Heap for the honorable mention #RavensNation
I'm going with ol shay sharpe
TonyG
Tony's got the stats, but the impact is with guys like Shannon Sharpe, Ozzie Newsome and Kellen Winslow Sr.
